MAY 4TH SQUARE + OLYMPIC SAILING CENTER in Qingdao China
The May 4th Movement happened as a result of Article 156 of the Treaty of Versailles. It transferred German concessions to Japan rather than returning them to China. There was huge outrage over this which prompted mass student demonstrations on May 4th, 1919.
We spent the day hanging out in the square, walking around the Olympic Sailing Center and watching an amazing drone air show.

Olympic Sailing Center in Qingdao China
The Qingdao International Sailing Centre is a sailing marina located on the former site of the Beihai Shipyard by Qingdao's Fushan Bay at Shandong Province in China. It was constructed for the 2008 Summer Olympics. It hosted the Olympic and Paralympic Sailing competitions.

Hi family, we visited the Iconic May Fourth Square. This large public square is in Qingdao's central business district. It is located between the new municipal government building and Fushan Bay and is composed of Shizhengting Square, the central square and the coastal park. Named after the nationwide protest May Fourth Movement that started in Qingdao, the square is best recognized by the large May Wind sculpture near the seaside. The square is a popular tourist destination, and is bordered by the city government to the north, the sea to the south, and residential and commercial buildings on either side.
Also, during the 2008 Beijing Olympic games the sailing competition was held at this very spot.
In this video, we had some beautiful reactions from some Chinese people as they approached my family as asked for pictures with us.

Chinese sailor Guo Chuan finished his circumnavigation challenge in 137 days, 20 hours, 1 minute and 57 seconds as he piloted his Class 40 boat to the Olympic Sailing Center in east China's Qingdao on the morning of April 5. The completion of the global voyage made him the first Chinese sailor that succeeded in sailing single-handed and non-stop around the world.
