Kiev Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Kiev in Ukraine.
Kiev is the capital of the Ukraine and, as with Rome, is built on seven hills. It is dominated by many churches and monasteries. The Latin Quarter originated in 1837 according to the design of Vicenti Beretti, with splendid buildings such as the National Philharmonic and the Baroque Opera and Ballet Theatre that is a more recent building because the original burned down soon after its construction. A unique monument of architectural splendour and culture overlooks the upper town, Sofiysky Sobor Cathedral, that was modelled on the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul. The Orthodox Church is one of several mainstream Christian religions the most well known of which was established in Russia. The city’s river is affectionately known as Father Dnepr. It is large and an ancient trading route between the north and the Black Sea. The river flows beneath seven bridges that connect both sections of the city. The Babi Yar Memorial is located at the north western edge of the city in the once two and a half kilometre long and fifty metre deep Babi Yar Canyon. Today it is known as a place of gross inhumanity and is one of the biggest mass graves in history. A place of tragedy and contemplation. Following Independence, Kiev has been transformed. This Soviet city has turned into an East European metropolis. But its culture, history and ambience of bygone days has managed to survive right up to the present day.

Took a day trip from Kiev to visit a missile silo base in central Ukraine. It took about 4 hours to get out there but it was totally worth it. We got to crawl around on missiles, tanks, motorcycles and more. Plus we got to push the button. Totally a psychedelic experience.

Kiev, Ukraine: Europe's Greatest City ????????
■ Kiev, Ukraine's capital, has seen more hardship over the past 100 years than any other city in Europe. Yet the city still stands proud on both sides of the banks of the river Dnipro.
For the past 45 days I've been studying Russian here. This film shows are some of the amazing people I've met and things I've seen over that period.
From hardworking normal citizens to great tourist attractions. From the sublime beaches along the river Dnipro to fantastic church art. These clips hopefully serves to give people and impression of what Kiev is truly like.
Kiev is paradise on earth during both summer and winter in terms of the open green spaces scattered all over the city. Towards the end of this film I go through some of the tragic history Kiev have suffered through and explain why this place deserves the title as Europe's greatest city.
As I did in my last movie I encourage people to visit Kiev or Ukraine for a holiday and spend money in the economy. Since then I've had my parents visit and they absolutely loved the city. They thought it was safe, beautiful and an extremely interesting part of Europe to wander around and explore in.
For first time visitors I recommend the Hotel Ukraina on Kreschatyk street. It's an old classic Soviet style hotel and used to be the most expensive hotel in Kiev during the days of the Soviet Union. The rooms are relatively modern and offer great value for money. The location of the hotel is also sublime.
As for time of year to visit Kiev, personally I love the winters when the city is covered in a thick layer of snow. If you can't handle minus 20 Celsius though, Ukraine's warmest months are June and July.

Is Kiev Safe? Kiev Ukraine Travel Guide - Kiev Food, Attractions & Chernobyl Radiation Zone!
Kiev Ukraine is a safe and happy place to travel! This Kiev travel guide will give you some perspective on attractions, food, and we’ll even visit the Chernobyl radiation zone - 9:12
Like all great cities, Kiev (or Kyiv) should be experienced by a local (just my opinion). We got pretty lucky with three amazing locals who showed all over the city. We arrived at night (immediately had vodka and Ukrainian snacks in the parking lot) and went straight to a lively little restaurant called Korchma Taras Bulba. They had dancers, amazing traditional Ukrainian food, and of course... more vodka! The young waiter was also named Daniel, so him and I made an instant connection. Young Daniel brought us kholodets, homemade sausages, smalec, “Ukrainian sushi,” Vrenyky, and Deruny. We quickly learned that Kiev food is delicious and very cheap!
The next day we went sightseeing to the Golden Gates, Sofiyivska Square, St Andrews Church, and then ate breakfast at Kanapa. The cottage cheese pancakes were life changing and every breakfast option I had was only €3! We finished off the day with Kiev street shopping, Lviv Handmade Chocolate, and a must visit to Pyana Vyshnya (aka Drunk Cherry Bar). We then ate dinner at Rebernia where I had the best ribs of my life!
Ok...let’s talk about Chernobyl. Confessions... I didn’t actually go on this trip, but my friend who came with us did and provided all the footage and information. Chernobyl today is a 1.5-2hr bus ride from Kiev and takes all day. Radiation is still high in certain areas and you’re basically walking through a ghost town. It seemed like a downer for me, so I decided to hang out in Kiev instead.
Our final day in Kiev brought us to the Kyiv Food Market and the absolute gorgeous holy area of Pechersk Lavra. We finished our Kiev travels at St Michael’s Golden Domed Monastery.
Kiev is 100% safe and 100% awesome! Your dollar really stretches in the city so take advantage of that. Food is cheap is you can literally find every type of cuisine in the city of Kiev. Have fun! Budmo!

Chernobyl Tour | Pripyat | Ghost Town | Kiev | Ukraine | Exclusion Zone | Adventure Tours in Ukraine
The beautiful and deserted Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in the North of Ukraine.
Just over thirty years ago, when the Soviet Union still existed, this area was prosperous and promising, with population over 130 000 people and around 50 000 of them lived in the unique town Pripyat - one of nine population centers in the USSR with the status of Atom City. Since the sadly famous nuclear disaster that happened on the 26th April 1986, the town Pripyat has been abandoned and is known today as the Ghost Town Pripyat. After the accident at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, civilian population from this area was evacuated starting with the people from Pripyat, and they never returned to live on this land...
Today the area has prospering nature and wildlife, the New Safe Confinement (a.k.a Sarcophagus II) covers the Unit No.4 that exploded in 1986 thus keeping the surroundings safe from its radioactive leftovers. The levels of radiation are within norms, thus making the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone safe and legally open for tourists from all around the world. Tourism into the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone is developing quickly, and the abandoned beauty of the Zone welcomes travelers from all over the world to witness the quiet and empty streets of Pripyat, the greatness of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the New Safe Confinement, abandoned villages and the not so abandoned town Chernobyl... As a bonus you’ll witness the gigantic Radar Duga 1 (a.k.a The Russian Woodpecker) responsible for tracking Nuclear Missiles back in the day, and many other locations.
The professional English speaking guides at Adventure Tours in Ukraine will tell you all the stories about the days long gone and will walk you down the overgrown streets and alleys once full of devoted Soviet citizens, working hard to make the USSR greater and more powerful than ever.

Ukraine Apartment Tour in Kiev
Come join us for a Ukraine apartment tour in Kiev as we showcase our airbnb rental property that we stayed at for just over a week. Overall, our apartment in Kiev was spacious and the location was fantastic just off of Pushkinska Street nearby Taras Shevchenko Park (Парк ім. Тараса Шевченка).
AirBNB Discount Code:
Our Apartment in Kiev:
We were nearby, in terms of short walking distance, many great restaurants, pubs, cafes, malls and grocery stores. It was just a short walk from the metro station and we felt safe and comfortable in our neighborhood. The apartment itself had huge ceilings and was very spacious but definitely had a faded 70s and 80s vibe in terms of the furniture, kitchen and bathroom. This we found kind of fascinating and since everything was functioning just fine it was actually kind of cool.

Ukraine Apartment Tour in Kiev video transcript:
Well, hello there. What are we up to today? We are up to an apartment tour here in Kiev (Київ). Yeah. We're going to show you yeah our Ukrainian apartment that we've been staying in for just over a week. And it is right behind through that arch. Yeah, and we're on a beautiful street. Yeah, we really are. Like check out these buildings. It looks like it could be it looks like it could be in Paris or Buenos Aires. Like it is pretty amazing. Alright, so let's watch for traffic and lead the way. I'll follow you.
Well, here is the building. Lots of construction happening as you can hear. This building is not quite as nice as the one that we just walked by. You can tell that is has got a bit of faded charm here.
A little bit rundown on the outside but it is quite nice inside. We are only on the 2nd floor, which is a nice surprise.
Okay, so time for the tour. We've just come in through the main door and first up is the bathroom. Is the bathroom. We may as well show you the bathroom.
We've got a tub and a shower. You kind of have to climb into this tub. It is pretty high. More than what I am used to. Yeah, the shower is perfectly adequate. I wouldn't say it was my favorite part of this apartment. Like it did the job but um it was okay. It wasn't huge.
And moving on to the rest. What have we got? Sink. Toilet. A washing machine which is always super exciting. That is mandatory. That is a must for us now in an AirBNB. We need to have a washing machine.
The most exciting part for me is just the sheer size of this place. This is a big a nice big apartment.
As you'll see. Tada. This is our living area. And we've got some lovely teal couches going on. Yeah. Bit of a retro vibe. Definitely a retro vibe. Maybe stuck in the 70s or 80s slightly.
If you come this way we've got our kitchen. We have another table with some chairs and little stools. We have like our coffees and our little snacks here.
So I do a bit of cooking here. I just made pasta but look at these pots. Oh yeah. They are like some heavy duty like old fashioned pots. And this kitchen also has like a super 70s 80s feel to it too.
Yeah. Check out that. Check out the microwave. Green. Yeah, green. I think there is green color reminds me of vintage I don't know why. Yeah, I don't think this color is so popular anymore. A big fridge.
The bedroom. Come in the bedroom.
We had a really nice big bed. It was really comfy.
final thoughts about this apartment here in Kiev (Київ). We really liked it. The location was fantastic. It was quite central. We were nearby like metro stations. We were nearby parks, restaurants, bars and cafes. Also the other really cool thing was the price. It was in the upper 20s like just under $30 US dollars.
We really liked the city and we would have liked to stay in Kiev (Киев) a little bit longer. 1 week flew by. Bye.

Most Beautiful And Famous Places To Visit In Kiev Ukraine TOP ATTRACTIONS!
1. Monument of Eternal Fame.
It is the monument in honour of the soldiers who died in the Great Patriotic War.
The monument is situated in the centre of the park of eternal glory. It was opened on November 6, 1957.
At the foot of this monument you can see eternal fire.
In the Soviet time, the fire is lit only on the day of victory and holidays, meaning which is victory.
The Motherland in Kiev is part of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine during World War II.
Inside the pedestal there is a museum, there are three floors of exhibitions.
Also, there are two observation decks.
In this height overlooks the entire city.
2. Pedestrian Bridge, or Park’s Bridge.
This bridge connects city and Truhaniv island.
There are many different cafes, where you can buy shashlik, or barbeque as you know it.
Also, there are many beaches, where you can swim, take a nap under the sun or just relax.
Also, you can have an excursion on these beautiful ships.
People Friendship Arch is the construction that was built in 1988.
It is in honour of Russia and Ukraine friendship.
In the evening this arch is all in the lights, so it is really beautiful place.
Also, here is an observation deck, where you can see all the city.
Andreevska church was built in 1744 by famous architect Rastrelli.
It is only one architecture in Kiev by this famous artist.
The temple built in Baroque style has the cross form, in the center the only dome towers, and four corners decorate decorative turrets with poppy-heads less.
3. Down from it there is an Andreevsky descent connecting the top city to lower.
According to some historical researches, the first way on the place of the current descent was paved on a crossing point of boundaries by two hills still in those days when on one of hills the Lithuanian lock was constructed.
You can buy here vyshyvanka, you can buy here bulava.
The Bessarabia market — the sign sight of Kiev which recently celebrated century anniversary.
It is difficult to present that at the beginning of last century the Khreshchatyk came to an end with a dump, where the local bandits, nicknamed bessaraba, reigned.
The city authorities cleaned the waste ground from stuff and street muggers, wanted to put a monument to Khmelnytsky, but changed the mind and equipped the market square.
4. Maidan Nezalezhnosti, or Indepent Square.
It is really the most important and the most significant place in Kiev.
And of course the most popular and the most visited, among tourists and residences of the city.
And, of course, a direct participant in such significant and well-known events outside Ukraine as Ukraine without Kuchma in 2000, Orange Revolution in 2004 and EuroMaydan in 2013.
5. Golden Gate.
What Kiev residents call Golden Gate a symbol of the city — actually newly rebuilt pavilion.
The real Golden Gate is inside this massive construction.
The pavilion reconstruction was built to keep the unique monument of defensive architecture of Ancient Russia which reached our days.
Golden Gate performed not only defensive function, but also served as the main entry into the big city, its sight.
6. St. Sophia Cathedral, symbol of Kiev became a museum.
So, church services are held according to the schedule.
In cathedral the fullest ensemble of original mosaics in the world and frescos of the first half of the 11th century and considerable fragments of mural of the 17-18th centuries remained.
7. Sofiyskaya Square — one of the central and most ancient squares of Kiev.
At Sofiyskaya Square the bell tower of St. Sophia Cathedral and a monument to Bogdan Khmelnytsky is located.
8. St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery is rightfully one of the oldest monasteries in Kiev.
On the territory of the monastery there is a cathedral church in honour of Archangel Michael in the style of Ukrainian Baroque, rebuilt in the middle of the 1990s.
Since 2001, the Ministry of Culture of Russia has transferred the original fragments of the Mikhailovsky Cathedral frescoes and other objects stored in the Hermitage to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
9. So, guys, we continue to show you not only touristic places, but and romantic places.
So, now we are in National Botanical Garden in Kiev.
So, in this park you can get acquainted with landscapes typical for a particular area, by visiting the thematic corners of the park: “Central Asia”, “Nature of Crimea”, “Altai” and so on.
Garden Pearls - Orchidarium, a vine garden and magnolia garden.
The world of subtropics is waiting for visitors to the greenhouse, the pride of which is a rich collection of cacti of various shapes and sizes.
