A Walk Around The Opera District - Paris
One of the most famous districts in Paris is also one of the most recognizable: Montmartre with its Sacré-Cœur Basilica can be seen rising high above the Paris rooftops from across the city. The 130 meters (426 feet) high hill is famous not only for its remarkable church, but also for its bohemian past. The village within a city once was the home to artists such as Salvadar Dalí, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh. The picturesque Paris neighborhood still draws millions of visitors every year.

The Place Vendome is one of the city’s most famous and beautiful neoclassical squares. Completely surrounded by sober buildings, it currently houses some of the most famous high-end stores, such as, Dior, Chanel or Cartier. The square was previously called Place Louis le Grand, Place des Conquêtes, Place des Piques or Place International, and is nowadays an example of the opulence and luxury found in Paris.

Paris 9th Arrondissement - 20 in 20 Day 9 - From Pigalle to Opera Garnier Paris
Paris' 9th Arrondissement is full of good food, even if it doesn't have tons of big tourist locations, it does have the Opera Garnier as well as Pigalle and a number of smaller churches. Grab my guide to Paris here: for tons of recommendations on places to eat in each arrondissement of Paris, including the 9th district.

FAQ:
How long have you lived in France? On and off for over two years.
What do you miss most about ho- NACHOS
You're always talking about living on some ship. WHAT SHIP? - I made a Draw My Life video that explains a lot here:
Where are you from originally? - Pullman, Washington - a small university/agricultural town near Idaho (and yes, the potatoes are amazing).
What do you film with? - I've made a lot of changes recently, but I try to keep my gear list up to date if you want to see what I use and buy some for yourself:
What do you edit with? - Adobe Premiere - it's pretty much all I've ever used since high school.
Aren't you ever freaked out by leaving your camera behind to film yourself? - Yep. But not too badly - I tend to be careful when I do.
Why are you living in #Paris? - Because I've always wanted to; I feel at home here:
Do you speak French? Oui.
You talk a lot about the books you're working on, what are they about? - They're sci-fi (and fantasy) and I've got a decent pitch for you here:
Do you make money off YouTube? - Ha, no. I wish. It took me over 500 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - The easiest and best way to support me is through Patreon, where you can pitch in as little as $1/mo to help me make better videos:
I don't trust this Patreon thing - can I just paypal you? - Here's my ko-fi if that's your thing (and coffee is your game):
But I want to send you something tangible! - I do have a wishlist on Amazon, though it's a bit complicated with the international shipping situation. This is the US one:

An evening stroll in the Paris Opera quarter
This is a hand-held stroll through the neighborhood of the old Paris Opera (Opéra Garnier), just after sunset. Since it is hand-held, I couldn't prevent the camera from jiggling a bit, but hopefully I held it still enough to still make the video worthwhile. The occasional sniffle you hear in the background is me, since the chilly air made me sniffle. The stroll starts on the boulevard de la Bonne Nouvelle, and continues west for 23 minutes and one mile to finish in front of the Opéra Garnier.
The video consists of just two long, uninterrupted, hand-held tracking shots. If Hitchcock and Scorsese can do it, so can I!
Ironically, some of the periodic jumps in the image come from the image stabilization on the camera, which holds the image still until it decides that the frame should have moved, in which case it quickly shifts the image. This is especially obvious in the up-and-down axis.
The constant noise is the real thing. Paris is a tremendously noisy city.
Turn on closed captions for some simple narration.

The 9th arrondissement (IXe arrondissement), located on the Right Bank, is one of the 20 arrondissements of Paris, France. It contains many places of cultural, historical and architectural interest, including the Palais Garnier, home to the Paris Opera, Boulevard Haussmann and its large department stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps.
Further North, you'll find the Moulin Rouge, Pigalle and more! People used to be a bit worried about the safety of this district but now it's seen as a very hipster, up and coming neighbourhood.

Concorde Opera Paris
Hotel Concorde Opera Paris has confirmed its prestige as a cultural and artistic landmark on the occasion of its centennial, following the lobby's meticulous restoration and its listing as a historical monument. Located at the heart of the 3-Parises - major business venues and La Defense district, the greatest cultural sites and the department stores on Boulevard Haussmann, Concorde Opera Paris truly enjoys a privileged location.
From the very first glance, visitors are impressed by the facade, showing the kind of chic that will forever be fashionable. One steps in through a monumental entrance, lined with pink granite columns that are reminders of the hotel's opulent beginnings. The lobby is remarkably decorated in purest Napoleon III tradition. It is adorned with mirrors, bronze sculptures, crystal chandeliers and marble columns, also featuring paintings and sculptures specially commissioned from artist Charles Joseph Lameire. The layout is the work of designer Hierro. It successfully blends the building's original 19th-century style, the Industrial Revolution and a touch of contemporary feel, thus perfectly illustrating the hotel's modern yet historical atmosphere.
The hotel boasts 266 spacious, tastefully-decorated guest rooms, each of which exudes an ambience of sophistication and prestige. The 13 meeting rooms provide the perfect setting for any event, conference or meeting held in central Paris.
