Vlog 037: Oregon City, OR
March 2017
Visiting Oregon City, Oregon on a very rainy day. Started the day by grabbing breakfast at Yvonne's Restaurant. Then strolled through the downtown area and to the Oregon City Municipal Elevator, the only municipal elevator in the United States. We tried to go through the historic McLoughlin House Museum, but were unable to due to school field trips. We finished up our day in Oregon City at the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.

Foggy Oregon City from the McLoughlin Promenade
McLoughlin Promenade is a 7.8-acre linear park on the bluff above downtown, which provides spectacular views of the Willamette River, Willamette Falls and downtown Oregon City. The site features a .4-mile pathway that runs along the bluff from the municipal elevator to the VFW Hall. Seating and picnic areas, viewpoints and historical markers also enhance the Park.

A fun activity with the kids or out of town guests is to ride the FREE trolley through historic Oregon CIty. With frequent stops to get off and back on at any time, you can really enjoy the sites and city. Downtown Main Street to the historic McLoughlin District and even down to the Willamette River. This video clip shows the exhilerating run down Washington Street hill. Look at the smiles on the girls faces! Hold on tight, those polished wood seats are slippery around corners.

Oregon City Elevator - Time-Travel Photos
View the linticular prints (in layers of 3) that line the Oregon City Municipal Elevator by the artist Bill Asbill. These photo allow for the viewer to see three different eras in time with different angles of sight. The old Oregon City is featured alongside the new Oregon City as well as the elevator construction from 1955 is documented here as well & whatnots.
The Oregon City Municipal Elevator is a 130-foot (40 m) elevator which connects two neighborhoods in Oregon City in the U.S. state of Oregon. It is the only outdoor municipal elevator in the U.S. and one of only four in the world. The upper portion contains an observation deck which accounts for its flying saucer appearance.
There have been two elevators at this location. The current elevator was built in 1954-55,[4] and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014
A historic city elevator ... with some Burley Flake
....a look at an old outside municipal elevator in the small village of Oregon City, just south of Portland...originally built in 1915 and then reconstructed in 1954-55. And a quick review of the new blend from Mac Baren, Burley Flake, a Burley dominated flake containing tobaccos from 3 continents....besides Burley, this flake also contains ripe Virginia tobaccos and a small portion of dark fired Kentucky.

An Abduction in the Park
I take you all to my favorite park in the Portland area: Tryon Creek State Park in Lake Oswego. The park is both massive and provides a great feeling of bliss and solitude. After a fun trek through the park I bring you all a story from 2002 when a young a high school girl vanished from the park, leading to a frantic missing persons search. But the story didn't quite end the way that these cases usually do.
