Travel Guide to Portland, Oregon l The Expeditioner
In this travel video tour of Portland, Oregon, I travel to Portland, one of the most unique cities in the United States.
I started my trip off by hopping off a plane and then immediately hopping onto a bus. But not just any bus, a bus operated by Brewvana Brewery Tours, the mostly women-run craft beer brewery tour company. Portland, or know as Beervana to some, is home to 55 breweries within its borders, and is truly a beer-lover's paradise. On my tour we made stops at Rogue Ales & Spirits, Laurelwood Pubic House & Brewery, Widmer Brothers Brewery and Sidecar Bar, where I had the chance to sit down over a pint with the founder and owner of Brewvana, Ashley Rose Salvitti.
While in Portland, I stayed at the Tiny House Hotel, a hotel made up of, you guessed it, tiny houses. In the next portion of my video guide I give a tour of my crib to show what it's like to live and stay in a tiny house.
Then, in an effort to get a chance to experience the famed brunch scene in Portland, I stopped in at The Tin Shed Garden Cafe, located down the street from where I was staying in the New Alberta Arts District.
In the interest of learning more about food, I headed to the downtown location of the Portland Farmers Market, located in a beautiful stretch of downtown Portland. Here, I got a tour of the grounds with Mona Johnson, then had the opportunity to meet up with some of the vendors, including Matt Choi of Choi's Kimchi Company, and famed chef and artisanal pickle impresario, David Barber of Picklopolis and Bingo! Sandwiches.
In need of a little peace and serenity, I then visited the Lan Su Chinese Garden, a peaceful and beautiful oasis in an otherwise busy and hectic part of downtown.
When visiting Portland, there's no reason to spend all your time in the city, especially with so much to do outside the city limits. The next day I took a road trip with local Matthew Domingo to explore the Columbia River Gorge and the numerous trails and waterfalls just off the road you can check out.
Then, to wrap things up, we stopped in at Hood River Organic near the riverside town of Hood River, an organic orchard and farm run by East Coast ex-pat Dan Thall, who gave us a tour of his land. Once the day ended we then headed out to happy hour at Solera Brewery in the imposing shadow of Mount Hood and then into town for a dinner featuring mushroom pizza with mushrooms Dan had grown and recently delivered to the restaurant.

Driving Downtown - Portland 4K - Oregon USA
Driving Downtown - Portland Oregon USA - Season 1 Episode 16.
Starting Point: Broadway .
Portland is the largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon and the county seat of Multnomah County. It is located in the Willamette Valley region of the Pacific Northwest, at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers. The city covers 145 square miles (376 km²) and had an estimated population of 619,360 in 2014,[7][9] making it the 28th most populous city in the United States. Approximately 2,348,247 people live in the Portland metropolitan statistical area (MSA), the 24th most populous MSA in the United States. Its Combined Statistical Area (CSA) ranks 17th with a population of 3,022,178.
Named after the city in Maine, Portland was settled in the 1840s near the end of the Oregon Trail. Its water access provided convenient transportation of goods, and the timber industry was a major force in the city's early economy. At the turn of the 20th century, the city had developed a reputation as one of the most dangerous port cities in the world, a hub for organized crime and racketeering. After the city's economy experienced an industrial boom during World War II, its hard-edged reputation began to dissipate. Beginning in the 1960s,[10] Portland became noted for its growing liberal political values, and the city has earned a reputation as a bastion of counterculture which has proceeded into the 21st century.[11] According to a 2009 Pew Research Center study, Portland ranks as the 8th most popular American city, based on where people want to live.[12]
The city operates with a commission-based government guided by a mayor and four commissioners as well as Metro, the only directly elected metropolitan planning organization in the United States.[13] The city government is notable for its land-use planning and investment in public transportation.[14] Portland is frequently recognized as one of the most environmentally conscious cities in the world because of its high walkability, large community of bicyclists, farm-to-table dining, expansive network of public transportation options, and 10,000+ acres of public parks.[15] Its climate is marked by warm, dry summers and chilly, rainy winters. This climate is ideal for growing roses, and Portland has been called the City of Roses for over a century.[16][17] Keep Portland Weird is an unofficial slogan for the city.[18]

PORTLAND DAY TRIP FROM SEATTLE - Oregon Travel Guide
What to Do in Portland, Oregon on a Day Trip. Seattle, WA to Portland, OR
Jaycation visits the great northwest of the USA and heads on a road trip from Seattle, Washington to Portland, Oregon. Only about 3 hours apart, Seattle and Portland are vastly different! We hop a rent-a-car and drive down the I-15 to Multnomah Falls from Bellevue, WA to start the day. After some time at the falls we drove west to Beaverton, Oregon to the Nike Company Store and for some Hawaiian Food for Lunch at Roxy's. The Chicken Katsu was fantastic! After some shopping with zero sales tax and picking up a new Canon M50 camera and lens, We paid a visit to Downtown Portland. In downtown we visited the famous Blue Star Donuts, Powell Books and Deschutes Brewery. After a quick visit to Pioneer Square and Nike Portland we visited the first Nike Clearance Store on MLK BLVD in Portland. Finally we drove back north towards Seattle and stopped by the Nike Clearance Store in Centralia, Washington. From there we drove through Tacoma and the video was over! 96 Hours in Portland, Oregon
96 Hours in Portland, Oregon - What to See When Visiting
If you only have 96 hours to visit Portland, Oregon, you have plenty of time to see a lot - and time to get outside the main city, too. My friends and I visited Portland and found lots of things to do and see. Here's our trip to Portland, Astoria, Cannon Beach, and more.
Things to Do in Portland Oregon:
Oregon has some great coffee and donuts. If you're a fan of one, or both, I'd suggest starting your day with a new place each morning. Some of places we visited:
Stumptown Coffee- one of my favorites.
Upper Left Roasters
Blue Star - unique looking donuts, good coffee too.
Voodoo Doughnut- This is in a category of it's own. This place is super trendy and there's always a line out the door. If crazy donuts are your thing, this is the place to go. If standing in line is your thing, this is the place to go. Also, cash only, but they do have an ATM inside.
Food in Portland Oregon:
I'd definitely suggest checking out the street food. Food carts/trucks line the streets and you can take your pick from one of the many. Many of them also have been on TV/food competitions.
Also, since Portland is just the hipster/trendy capital of everything they have some great restaurants to try. Here are the ones we tried
Weird things to see in Portland:
The Boeing 727 aircraft sitting in the forest. A man decided to live in the woods, but his home is not a house. It's an aircraft. He towed in a 727 to call home. It's been there for years and is quite a sight. He's even willing to give tours sometimes. Just be respectful and get permission to go on his property before setting out for this one.
Cool things to do in Portland:
Find the waterfalls - Portland has a lot of waterfalls around. Just a short drive east and you'll find Multnomah. One of the most popular ones. But there are plenty of other fun ones to find on your own too. When we visited, Multnomah was closed off to the public, but we found some alternates that were still great.
Road trips outside of Portland:
Astoria - A port city northwest of Portland. It's a quiet town, but being right on the water makes it extremely relaxing. Also, this is the town of the famous Goonies house. But I wouldn't get your hopes up if you're expecting to see it up close. Apparently, due to a lot of fans trespassing, littering, and being verbally abusive to the home owner, tours and even getting close to the house are not allowed. You can still get a decent photo from the neighborhood though. But the neighbors will probably hate you.
Cannon Beach - A beautiful beach with the awesome Haystack Rock. This is a great place to chill year-round and an awesome place to watch the sunset.
I hope you liked my video of our trip to Portland, Oregon. I'd love to go back in the summer and visit again. There is so much nature around the city and plenty of places to eat and drink in the city. Nature or city person, it's a great place to check out.

Portland was incorporated in 1851 near the end of the Oregon Trail and is the county seat of Multnomah County. The city has a commission-based government headed by a mayor and four other commissioners as well as Metro, a distinctive regional government. Located in the Marine west coast climate region, Portland has a climate marked by both warm, dry summers and wet, cool-to-chilly winter days. This climate is ideal for growing roses. For more than a century, Portland has been known as the City of Roses, with many rose gardens -- most prominently the International Rose Test Garden. The city is also known for its abundant outdoor activities, liberal political values, and beer and coffee enthusiasm. Portland is home to a collection of independent microbreweries, microdistilleries and food carts that contribute to the unofficial but widely utilized[citation needed] slogan Keep Portland Weird.

Beer in Portland, USA
Drink beer in Portland with Macca and Brianna as they visit some of the best breweries in the city.
With an amazing craft beer scene and over 70 different places to choose from it's no wonder Portland has become one of the major states to visit for beer lovers.
After trying out a few (okay, a fair few) glasses of the amber nectar ourselves we can see why so many people love drinking beer in Portland, and these places were without a doubt some of the best breweries we've ever been to, and that's saying something!
If you enjoyed us drinking beer in Portland, check out A Brit and a Broad to see what else we go up to while we were there - - and subscribe for more videos like this one -
✈✈✈
Portland, Oregon, is without a doubt one of the hippest cities in the United States.
With a highly active art scene, more craft breweries than you'll know what to do with, and some freakin' weird things to see and do, Portland is one of the hottest places to be in right now. Add in those chilled vibes of the Pacific Northwest and it's become a hipsters haven and a desirable destination for tourists, so we just had to see it out for ourselves.
In this episode we check out some of the best breweries in Portland, and with over 70 different breweries to choose from that's no mean feat!
You can’t come to Portland without checking out Deschutes Brewery though. This beer is famous throughout the States, so this was our first port of call.
Next up was Ecliptic Brewing where they’re creating some of the most interesting beers we’ve had in a very long time (including a beer aged in an old bourbon barrel!)
And finally, we finished off at Migration Brewing for a flight of nine different beers and to kick back and watch some sport. It really doesn’t come much more American than this one!
If you’re someone who loves a sip or two of the old fashioned ale, make sure you get yourself over to Portland to try out what they’re doing. You certainly won’t be disappointed!

Experience the North Oregon Coast like never before. Morrisey Video Production filmed, edited, and produced this amazing aerial video tour. Filmed with a DJI Phantom drone a Hero GoPro 4k Camera they explored many coastal landmarks including Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Historic Hwy 101, the Oregon Coast Range, and Seaside. The scenic beauty of the Pacific Northwest is comparable to anywhere in the world. Plus, when viewed from the sky it gives it a unique look that you don't always see. The Oregon Coast is the greatest place in the world to live. In 1967 the Oregon Legislature declared that all 363 miles of the coast is open to the public. The great part about the State is the great diversity in geography from the East to the West. The East side of the State is primarily high desert featuring super cold days in the winter and very hot weather in the summer. As you move West towards the ocean the weather gets increasingly humid, windy, and rainy. In fact, the North corner of the State is one the rainiest places in the United States and at times feels a lot like a rainforest. Although, when the rain clears and the sun comes out this is one of the most beautiful areas in the world.
