Thews in Japan- Tennoji Ward, Osaka
The Tennoji Ward in Osaka is full of temples. Easily accessable by public transportation, it is the area I most enjoyed while visiting Osaka. I visit some really cool temples while there: Shitennoji Temple and Isshinji Temples were my favorite and are featured in this video. This video really gives you the feeling of being there, hearing the temple gongs, smellling the incense.
The end of the video has the Queen Mary 2 at night in Osaka, docked next to one of the tallest ferris wheels in the world.

TIPS/ADVICES
›››We would recommend staying at an accommodation around Namba or DenDen Town. Both are central to where all the fun touristy things are! We stayed in DenDen Town and mostly everything was walking distance away.
›››Purchase an Osaka amazing pass! This pass is a definite bang for your buck and really allows you to see what the city of Osaka has to offer. This pass allows you free access to many attractions, discounts for certain things and unlimited access to the subway!!! It was amazing!
›››Arrive to attractions EARLY in the morning. A lot of attractions can get over-crowded during prime time. Jim and I woke up early everyday and really enjoyed the quiet, peacefulness of the attractions we visited. For example, Osaka Castle and Shitennoji can get really crowded.
FAQ's ›››
›››Q: Could you also please give me a list of where to eat in Osaka?
›››A: we highly recommend exploring the dotonbori area and let your nose do the guiding. Ichiran ramen is a must visit for sure but be sure to visit around 11-3pm as we found that there was not a very long wait at that time. We also found the Pablo Cafe right by the Glico Running Man sign was very delicious! We highly recommend the original flavor cheese tarts. Lesli is a huge fan of their soft serve ice cream for their unique light cheese flavored ice cream. Last recommendation is in the restaurant area in the basement of umeda station called Shabu Sai. It is an all you can eat for a very affordable price (2900yen). The beef was very soft and tender and they have an excellent selection of vegetables.

Namba Center Shopping Arcades, Minami Osaka City
Osaka city is famous for it's long shopping arcades, which contain both high end and low end shops that sell everything under the sun. Most shopping arcades span multiple city blocks and are open rain or shine. This is because most of these arcades are covered with a dome, which protects the visitors from rain and other elements.
Specifically the minami or south Osaka downtown is known for these shopping arcades. The Namba area near the Nankai Namba Station has two large shopping arcades Sennichi Mae and Ebisubashi Suji inside the Namba Center. Visiting them is generally a lot of fun, you can do some shopping, some people watching and then get some nice Japanese food to top of the day. Enjoy.

Shitennoji Temple (四天王寺), Tennoji Ward, Osaka City
Shitennoji Temple (四天王寺) is located in the Tennoji Ward of the Osaka City. This temple is one of the oldest temples in Japan and was built in the late sixth century AD. This temple was built at the behest of Prince Shotoku Taishi, who as a member of the ruling family of Japan at that time, was a great follower and patron of Buddhism in Japan.
Even though it is a city based temple, it is a large sprawling temple with many buildings, ponds and gardens spanning multiple city blocks. Enjoy!

OSAKA, JAPAN 2016: Dotonbori, Namba, Shinsaibashi, Shinsekai.
if you want to feel the buzz and energy of Osaka, look no further; Dotonbori is the place to go, it's the essence of Osaka!
Dotonbori is a very colorful, popular and famous street which runs parallel to Dotonbori-gawa Canal in the downtown area of Namba, in the center of Osaka. Both sides of the canal are always busy day and night. The north side of the canal is called Soemon-cho, where there are many restaurants and bars. The south side of the canal, Dotonbori Street, is a home of ‘Kuidaore’ with various eateries where you will be amazed with the famous Osaka giant signs such as moving crab, puffer fish, dragon, etc. Dotonbori is the main destination for food travel in Osaka. Osaka regional cuisine that can be found along Dotonbori includes okonomiyaki (pan-fried batter cake), takoyaki (octopus dumplings), udon (a noodle dish), as well as regional sushi and other traditional Japanese foods.
There are several famous billboards and characters in Dotonbori. One is the well-known Glico billboard at the foot of the Hikkake-bashi bridge. The Glico billboard was first installed in 1935. Its design changes with the times and it is now in its 6th generation. Next is the billboard of the specialist crab restaurant Kani Doraku. It is a huge crab with slowly-moving mechanical legs located about a 30 second walk from the Glico billboard.
Osaka is nicknamed the city of Kuidaore. Kuidaore means to eat delicious foods until your stomach is full. So I recommend you walk around Dotonbori while eating crab and takoyaki.
The entire sides of buildings are decorated with neon lamps. The illuminated signboards and neon lamps reflect on the Dotonbori-gawa Canal at night, making Dotonbori even merrier.
Famous Sights Of Osaka Japan's Entertainment District @ [ Namba ] 2013 難波 [大阪 ]
Some of the most famous images of Osaka, including the Glico Man and the Kani Doraku Crab, are located around the Dōtonbori canal in Namba. Namba is also known as an entertainment district, and hosts many of the city's most popular bars, restaurants, nightclubs, arcades, and pachinko parlors. The area is also known for shopping, with the Takashimaya department store (for older styles) and the sprawling underground Namba City shopping mall (for newer styles).

2- Food
Osaka is famous in Japan for their food. Its nickname is “the nation’s kitchen”.
Most well known: okonomiyaki, which is a dish made with meat, seafood, and noodles.
Takoyaki, delicious fried octopus balls that are sure to curve your hunger cravings at night.
Kushikatsu. Kushi refers to the bamboo skewers that the food is on and you can find meat, vegetable and even cheese varieties here. Don’t forget to dip your fried goods into the tonkatsu sauce (but strictly NO double dipping)
And of course Ramen!
Osaka is home to 200+ Michelin starred restaurants and Dontoburi is the epicentre of that.
Aside from the delicious food, Osaka is also well known for its high quality Sake, or Japanese rice wine. The sake is made from fresh water that comes from the Osaka mountains

Grand Front Osaka is amazing
YenTenjimbashi-suji Shopping Street

Midosuji (shopping street)
Osaka’s “main street,” Midosuji is a broad street All the major international luxury brands have outlets here
Hozenji Yokocho (traditional alley)
Two small blocks east of Midosuji and two small blocks south of the Dotombori Arcade, you’ll find one of the most beautiful streets in all of Osaka and it looks like it was magically transported from somewhere in Kyoto. Entering this street is like slipping 200 years back in time.
Doguyasuji Arcade (kitchen and cooking supply shopping arcade)
About five minutes’ walk southeast of Namba subway station (easily reached on foot from Dotombori
Amerika Mura (trendy district)
Amerika Mura (or “Amemura” to the locals)
5- Otaku Paradise
Den Den Town. Osaka’s answer to Akihabara and not far from Namba station, here you’ll find all the weird and wonderful Japanese toys and manga you’ve heard about on the internet. Watch your step or you could unintentionally fall into adult-only territory. (Or intentionally, if that’s what you’re after.)
Den-Den is the city’s electronics, camera, computer and pop culture shopping neighborhood. It’s about 10 minutes’ walk southwest of Namba Station, in Nippombashi, running roughly between Nippombashi and Ebisucho stations on the Sakaisuji subway line. Many of the shops here have someone on hand who can speak English, so don’t be afraid to ask for help when looking for something.
