Palmetum jardín Botánico. Santa Cruz de Tenerife
Este video corresponde al jardín botánico denominado Palmetum. Recibe éste nombre por contener una gran variedad de especies de palmeras y otras especies de plantas y árboles del mundo muchos de los cuales se encuentran en peligro de extinción. Está situado al noroeste de la isla en la capital Santa Cruz que junto a la ciudad de San Cristóbal de La Laguna conforman lo que se conoce cómo el área metropolitana de Tenerife. Para un visitante o turista es dificíl distinguir donde acaba una ciudad y empieza la otra.
San Cristóbal de la Laguna es hoy día Patrimonio de la Humanidad. Fue la primera capital de la isla y de Canarias hasta el siglo pasado. Luego Santa Cruz se convirtió por su puerto en el núcleo comercial y burocrático principal. Ambas ciudades practicamente están unidas y la población en el área metropolitana ronda algo más de los 400 mil habitantes.
Ambas ciudades contienen muchos lugares bellos que visitar tanto en sus centros históricos como alrededores. Hermosos parques, museos, edificios de arquitectura moderna o antigua y muchas zonas verdes. Está bien comunicada y con buen transporte público tanto de lineas de autobuses y tranvias. Uno de los dos aeropuertos que tiene la isla se encuentra en San Cristóbal de La Laguna al noreste

Nous sommes allés visiter le Palmetum qui est en fait un jardin botanique spécialisé surtout dans la famille des palmiers.
Le coût du billet d'entrée pour un adulte est de 6 euros. La visite a duré environ 90 minutes. Cependant, il faut dire que nous avons pris notre temps.
Ce site, aménagé sur les pentes d'un ancien dépotoir, possède non seulement une multitude d'espèces de palmiers mais également plusieurs autres types d'arbres et de plantes, ceux-ci étant divisés par régions du monde.
De plus, des ruisseaux, étangs et chutes agrémentent cet endroit.
Étant situé en hauteur, ce site offre d'excellents points de vue de la ville, du parc maritime, de l'auditorium ainsi que du littoral.

The Palmetum of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a botanical garden of 120.000 m² specialized in palms (Arecaceae). It is an artificial hill, with views of the ocean, located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. The gardens include a large system of waterfalls, streams and ponds, a museum dedicated to palms, and a display shade house. The project was started in 1995 on a former landfill and only opened to the public in 2014.[1] The valuable palm collection gathers about 600 species of palms and it is focused on the ones native to world islands.

Trees and shrubs of other plant families are also displayed, organised in biogeographical sections. All gardens are maintained with no pesticides and no fertilizers, different species of wild birds are easily seen in the palmetum.

The Palmetum is a twelve-hectare botanical garden specialising in palm trees. it is a unique project in the world as it has transformed a rubbish tip into an area for leisure and arboreal culture. It has truly spectacular plant life, the result of the collaboration of numerous institutions from around the world.

The Palmetum is one of the several gardens or botanical parks that own the island of Tenerife. It was inaugurated by the Kings of Spain in the year 2014 although it has species of palm trees and trees sown since the 90's when it began to be built.
