Giant pandas arrive in the UK
8-year-old female panda Tian Tian (also known as sweetie) and 8-year-old male panda Yang Guang (aka Sunshine) from Chengdu's Bifengxia Panda Base, have arrived in Edinburgh. It's the first time in more than 17 years that giant pandas will reside in the United Kingdom. The UK's last giant panda, Ming Ming, left London Zoo to return to China on October 26, 1994. Both Tian Tian and Yang Guang are part of global giant panda conservation program, designed to increase the panda population. Conservationists estimate that only 1,600 pandas remain in the wild.

(19 Dec 2018) 'SPIDER-MAN'S' TOM HOLLAND'S FAVORITE DRINK WAS BEER, BUT NOW 'AVENGERS' CO-DIRECTOR JOE RUSSO HAS INTRODUCED HIM TO A SMOKY BOURBON
When it comes to alcoholic beverages, British Spider-man actor Tom Holland is a beer guy. The 22 year-old actor loves a good pale ale, porter and most recently IPAs.
However, his friend and Avengers co-director Joe Russo recently introduced him to a tasty smoky bourbon.
Russo owns a Los Angeles restaurant called Simone with Jessica Largey, a James Beard Award winner. That's why he also knows a thing or two about great food and delicious cocktails. He's so serious about finding the best chefs, food and restaurants that he flew a mixologist from Scotland to take over his cocktail menu for his restaurant.
While shooting one of the Avengers films, he and his wife found themselves in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he discovered a bar called Panda and Sons where Iain McPherson worked.
My wife and I fell in love with it and every time we went back to Edinburgh, we would go quite often, we would go to Panda and Sons and it became a sort of regular thing with us, said Russo. I met Iain and then when we were putting together Simone, we decided we wanted to put a cocktail and bar at the front of the restaurant so that when you entered in the front of the restaurant, you would enter into the cocktail bar and have a cocktail experience before you go eat in the restaurant. And I wanted the best in the world to work with Jessica (Largey) who is an incredible chef, so we needed to make sure that we had someone of Iain's quality that could do a great job of not only bringing unique drinks to Los Angeles, but also complementing Jess' amazing food.
Russo invited his Spider-man friend Tom Holland to the restaurant to try some food along with his all-time favorite cocktail called Homeward Bound.
It's made with bourbon, cocoa butter, sassafras, Pedro Ximénez sherry and vanilla cherry oak smoke.
It's an amazing combination of aromatics and alcohol so you're getting two different sense experiences while you're drinking it. It's pretty incredible. You're using your nose and you're using your taste buds so it's a really fascinating drink, said Russo.
Holland helped make the cocktail with real smoke, slowly took a sip and realized why Russo was such a fan.
Yeah that's really good. Oh, that's amazing, said Holland.

TRYING HAGGIS for the first time in Edinburgh, Scotland | The Girl with Beer
I had less than 24 hours in Edinburgh before heading off to Aberdeen for a few days so I had to explore as much as I could! I started the trip at the Arcade Haggis & Whisky House to try haggis for the first time.
Haggis, for those who are unfamiliar, is a savory pudding consisting primarily of sheep's lungs, heart, and liver, oatmeal, minced onion, spices, and stock boiled in a bag, traditionally one made from the animal's stomach. Haggis is typically paired with neeps and tatties (turnips and potato) and is often served with whisky. Instead, I paired it with Haggis Hunter's Ale by Harviestoun Brewery.
We had dinner at the Queen's Arm where I had the Queen's Arm Pie with mashed potatoes, gravy and veggies. After dinner, we headed over to Panda & Son's a speakeasy cocktail bar that was recommended by many.
The next day we checked out The Elephant House, aka the birthplace of Harry Potter. Honestly, even if you're not a fan this place is worth checking out. We went right as it opened so there wasn't a big crowd but the view and the atmosphere of the cafe are incredible. I only had a cup of coffee because I don't typically eat breakfast but the other women who I was with really enjoyed their meals.
Before leaving Edinburgh, we had to stop by the Greyfriars Bobby statue. Greyfriars Bobby was a Skye Terrier who became known in 19th-century Edinburgh for spending 14 years guarding the grave of his owner until he died himself on 14 January 1872. People rub his nose for good luck, which is the reason why it's the only polished part of the statue.

Guided by my trusted guide dog Marty, I've been in Edinburgh. We travelled on the LNER train service, first class from Stevenage, changing at Peterborough. We were then taken to the Hub hotel in Haymarket and dined at the Arcade Haggis and Whisky bar before strolling back to the hotel. This video is not sponsored or affiliated.
