Day at the Beach: Kuta Beach, Nusa Dua, and Pandawa Beach | Trip to Indonesia
During our trip to Bali, we spent a day traveling to visit a few of the beaches. We went to Kuta Beach, Nusa Dua, and Pandawa Beach; all of these beaches are located relatively close to each other in the southern part of Bali.
Kuta Beach is located on the western coast of South Bali, and is a very popular tourist destination. On the day we went, though, there was a lot of trash that had washed up from the ocean, and seeing this is a grim reminder of why we should recycle and throw away our trash rather than leaving it on the beach.
Nusa Dua is an area in South Bali that has many resorts and beaches. Peninsula Island is an area on the east coast, and one popular attraction in this area is the Waterblow. At the Waterblow, you can see water rushing up from the ocean as it hits the rocks along the coast.
Pandawa Beach (Pantai Pandawa) is located on the southern tip of Bali, and is hidden behind limestone cliffs. But in my opinion it's worth going to see the beautiful blue water along this beach.

Pandawa Beach is one of the many hidden beaches of Bali. Located on the island’s southern Bukit Peninsula, the 1-km-long coastal stretch is about 8 km south of the main hub of the BTDC complex in Nusa Dua. Hidden behind large carved limestone cliffs that reveal wide views to the Indian Ocean, Pandawa Beach has impressive terrain and manmade limestone features that serve as a one-of-a-kind welcome into this coastal area. Pandawa Beach Bali is a beautiful white sand beach in the south of the island. With cliff top views and aqua blue water, here’s all you need to know.
Pandawa Beach (or Pandava beach) is located at Badung - South Kuta tourist region and one of the many beaches in Bali. In the past, this beach is well known to be one of the region's secret beaches because of the location behind a mountainous area that secluded its location to the unknown. Pandawa beach is surrounded by two cliffs with one of them, carved into the cliff face the statues of the Pandavas and the Kunti goddess. The six statues from top to bottom are Kunti, Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva.
The beach is well known as a tourist attraction and its water sport use but it is also known as a seaweed algaculture farm. It has a shallow long beach face that is suitable for farming seaweed by the locals. Water sports are also a favorite pass time for tourists at the beach.
HOW TO GET TO PANDAWA BEACH BALI
Located at the most southern point of Bali, Pandawa Beach is around 1 hour and 20 minutes from Canggu but relatively easy to get to.
We recommend renting a scooter to get around Bali. You can hire them for around 50,000 IDR per day, and it’s the cheapest and easiest way to travel.
Although if you’re not comfortable driving on two wheels then drivers are available to hire all over the island for around 500,000 IDR per day (8 hours).
For those staying in Uluwatu, it’s just a short drive from Green Bowl Beach and the Abandoned Plane.
You will pay this fee at a toll gate which is a few hundred meters before Pandawa Beach. They will give you a ticket that you must show upon on entrance to the beach.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT PANDAWA BEACH BALI
Hidden behind huge limestone cliffs, Pandawa Beach Bali was once known as a secret beach. It used to be super difficult to access because it was located within a deep valley and surrounded by all the white stone cliffs.
However, since road access opened for public in 2012, it is no longer Bali’s famous hidden beach. It’s actually a really popular spot for all locals and tourists.
It’s a great addition to all the beautiful white sand beaches in the south. The water is aqua blue and the sand is soft and powdery. It’s no wonder the word got out about this beach!
There were lots of seaweed washed up on 1km stretch of coastline when we visited. However, we did not spot any trash, which was definitely a bonus.
It’s definitely worthy of a day trip, especially for families. The seawater is calm and completely safe to swim.
On the way into Pandawa Beach, there are a few small market shops selling touristy merch. Sun loungers are also available along the beach if you plan to spend the afternoon there!
