SECRET Thai Cooking Class in Chiang Mai, Thailand | BEST CLASS IN THAILAND
It's no secret that Thai food is amazing - the aromas, flavors, and textures are all so unique... but you'll gain an ever deeper appreciation for Thai cuisine after learning how the dishes are prepared.
We took a cooking class with Thai Secret Cooking School in Chiang Mai and prepared:
• Green Curry
• Spring Rolls
• Coconut Chicken Soup
• Pad Thai
• Sticky Rice
We started the day off at a market where we learned about a few of the key ingredients in Thai cuisine. Next, we went to Mae's organic garden to pick ingredients, and then prepared our dishes.
It was an amazing experience and I highly suggest you take a cooking class while in Thailand!

10 - Thailand - Learning to Cook Thai (Chiang Mai Thai Cookery School with Sompon Nabnian)
If you've ever wondered why Thai food taste so good then head over to Chiang Mai and take a cooking class.
They'll drop you off first at the market place where you'll get a good overview of everything you need to cook truly authentic Thai food at home. We started off learning the differences between the different roots, mushrooms, onions and lettuces. Then we moved on to noodles - different kinds of rice: from Jasmin to sticky rice. Then we added spices into the mix. And all kinds of fruit that I'd never heard of. The only one I recognized was of course bananas but of course they taste so fresh, so ripe in Thailand; It is a totally different fruit. Moving on to the fresh fish department there was much to chose from. Same thing for the meat department where you'll get a couple of cuts that won't be coming to your local McDonald's anytime soon.
In the classroom, Chef Pon made everything look so easy. Just put the noodles in the pan and flip it around. Your rice comes out nice and clean. Everything stir fries. Thank you Chef Pon.
But in reality cooking is a real art. It takes a lot of practice and a lot of concentration. Cut and slice and boil and cut some more all the ingredient for our stir fry to our little banana rice cakes.
In the end it was a beautiful time learning and exploring the Thai culture in a little bit different way - through our taste buds.
- Ryan Anderson, Chiang Mai, Thailand, 15. May 2013
