A Parsi or Parsee refers to a member of the Zoroastrian community who migrated to India from Persia during the Arab invasion of 636–651 AD; one of two mainly located in India, with a few in Pakistan. According to the Qissa-i Sanjan, Parsis migrated from Greater Iran to Gujarat, where they were given refuge, between the 8th and 10th century AD to avoid persecution following the Muslim conquest of Persia. At the time of the Muslim conquest of Persia, the dominant religion of the region was Zoroastrianism.
