Pavagadh is a 800m volcanic hill having the Lakulisha Temple and Kalika Mata. It is a important pilgrimage site.

Pavagadh (Gujarati) is a Hill Station It is known for a famous Mahakali temple which draws thousands of pilgrims everyday. Pavagadh is the gateway to Panchmahal. The locations of hilly areas around Halol provide good scenery. Pavagadh Hill has total height of 822 meters and you can find many scenic trails to climb including waterfalls during monsoon time

A little above the Kali Temple there is Sadanshah Pir Dargah. There are numerous tales, songs and dramas knitting the story of Patai Raval. CHAMPANER TO MACHI ROAD TRIP ||PAVAGADH HILL ||2019

Pavagadh Hill is situated within a plain in Panchmahal district, Gujarat, western India. At its base is the historical city of Champaner, while the hill station of Pavagadh was built upon the volcanic cone itself. A volcanic eruption occurred here approximately 500 million years ago and the etymology of its name is associated with eruption: Pavgadh means one fourth hill or fire-hill, though a legend surrounding its formation is that the right foot of Sati is believed to have fallen at Pavagadh and God sent a large hill as per the request of Rishi Vishwamitra to fill up a deep valley so that the sage's cows do not fall into it. With Champaner, Pavagadh hill forms the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, which is spread over an area of more than 1,329 hectares (3,280 acres).The site is 50 kilometres (31 mi) east of Vadodara and 42 miles (68 km) south of Godhra.

With Champaner, Pavagadh hill forms the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, which is spread over an area of more than 1,329 hectares (3,280 acres). The site is 50 kilometres (31 mi) east of Vadodara and 42 miles (68 km) south of Godhra.

The hill is a southern Aravalli Range outlier, rising 800 metres (2,600 ft) above the surrounding plains. The Dhadhar River and Vishwamitri River originate on the hill. The Surya stream, which also rises on the hill, joins the Vishvamitri. There are five successive plateaus, Kalikamata Plateau, Mauliya Plateau, Bhadrakali Plateau, Machi Plateau and Atak Plateau. Plateau reservoirs (talaos) form a chain up the hill. Other features include dense forest, reddish-orange rhyolite boulders, and a natural cave just below the summit. Strong monsoon breezes blow winds upwards onto steep hill slopes.

The arrangement of the rock formations of Pavagadh Hill is stated as being rhyolite, green bedded tuffs, porphyritic basalt, olivine dolerite and nonporphyritic alkaline basalt. There are steep rock exposures whose geological formation is attributed to ancient volcanic eruptions and lava flows. Pavagadh Hill has a geological setting of reddish-yellow coloured stone, and is considered to be one of the oldest rock formations in India.

भारत विविध जाती और परम्पराओ का देश हे, और इसी वजह से यहा उसके अनेक रूप देखने को मिलते हे, जिनमे से pavagadh temple पुरे भारत में प्रचलित हे. लोग यहाँ काली मा की पूजा करने आते हे.

पावागढ़ एक किल्ला था उसपे पतई नामका राजा राज करता था, वो राजा काली माता का भक्त था. और पौराणिक कथाओ के अनुसार जब राजा किसी के साथ युद्ध पे जाता तब वो माता की पूँजा करके निकल ता था और माता की उसपे इतनी कृपा दृष्टि थी के जब राजा का सैन्य सामने विरोधी के सैन्य से कम हो तब माँ उसकी सहाय कर उसे जिता ती थी.

हर साल लाखो लोग माके चरणों में नमन करने PAVAGADH TEMPLE आते हे, यहाँ pavagadh ropeway की सुविधा भी उपलब्ध हे, पावागढ़ जाने के लिए champaner से जाना होता हे यहाँ रहने की सारी व्यवस्था उपलब्ध हे.

UNESCO World Heritage Site : Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park

Champaner is located at a distance of 50 km from Baroda and at the foothill of the Pavagadh hill in Gujarat. The Pavagadh hill composed of reddish-yellow coloured stone formation is one of the oldest rock formations in India. The hill rises to a height of nearly 800 m from the mean sea level.

Pavagadh hill was a famous Hindu fortress under the Solanki kings of Gujarat followed by Khichi Chauhans. In 1484, Sultan Mahmud Begarah took possession of the fort and renamed it Muhammadabad. These monuments are located on the Mauliya plateau, which is situated on the hill. The earliest temple datable to 10th – 11th century is dedicated to Lakulisa of which only gudhamandapa and antarala is extant. Other temples belong to Hindu and Jaina sects and are datable to circa 13th – 15th centuries A.D. All the temples are of the Nagara style having garbhagriha, mandapa and an entrance porch.

The historical monuments at Champaner consist of a series of fortifications, some of which originate on the hill top and end on the plains. The fortification is consisted of massive sandstones with intermediate bastions with beautiful balconies. Out of the massive ruins, five mosques are still in good condition. The most important among them is the Jama Masjid which is located 50 east of the royal enclosure. The structures represent a perfect blend of Hindu-Moslem architecture, mainly in the Great Mosque (Jami Masjid), which was a model for later mosque architecture in India. This special style comes from the significant period of regional sultanates.

Pavagadh (Gujarati: પાવાગઢ) is a Hill Station, and a Municipality in Panchmahal district about 46 kilometres (29 mi) away from Vadodara in Gujarat state in western India. It is known for a famous Mahakali temple which draws thousands of pilgrims every day. It is a tribal area populated predominantly by the Rathwas. The area of this locality Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park was inscripted by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2004.
