The Paxmal is a Peace Monument, whose basic idea is the peace for everyone. Karl Bickel (1886-1982) created a place of contemplation, meditation on man and his objectives, his life and his company forms. Bickel died with 96 years in 1982 Schrina-Hochrugg. The Paxmal is an exciting place of wonder.
Despite the amount of Walenstadtberg there is anecdotal farms. Alpine pasture high above Lake Walensee. Enjoy the place among the monumental Churfirsten and look down on the deep blue of the lake.

Schnüerliweg Churfirsten - Thrill | Nichts für schwache Nerven und Nervenkitzel pur
Sensationelle Wanderkulisse unterhalb der Churfirsten mit Blick auf den Walensee. Es handelt sich hierbei um keinen offiziellen Wanderweg, sondern um einen alten Jägerpfad, der direkt unterhalb der Südwände des Hinderrugg, Schibenstoll bis zum Zuestoll verläuft.

Walensee - a lake located 60km south-west of Zürich. It is situated between two cosy towns Weesen and Walenstadt. A very popular destination for sailing, bathing, and hiking. Surrounding mountains have great skiing slopes, too.

The Walensee is one of the larger lakes in Switzerland. About 2/3 of its surface in the Canton of St. Gallen and about 1/3 in the Canton of Glarus. It is also known as Lake Walen or Lake Walenstadt, after Walenstadt. Other towns and villages at the lake include: Weesen, Quinten, Quarten, and Murg.

Diese Friedensstätte auf 1300 m ü.M. auf Walenstadtberg (Schweiz) wurde in den Jahren von 1924-1949 durch Karl Bickel erdacht und geschaffen.
Dem PAXMAL liegt der Urgedanke des Friedens für jeden und alle zu Grunde. Es ist keine Kultstätte, sondern ein stiller, friedlicher Ort für innere Sammlung, Einkehr und Meditation.
Zur Erschaffung des PAXMAL standen dem Künstler nie irgendwelche finanziellen Hilfen zur Verfügung und er musste jahrzehntelang seine sämtlichen Verdienstquellen für dieses Lebenswerk allein aufwenden. Eine während vier Jahrzehnten dauernde, freie Zusammenarbeit in einem fruchtbaren Vertrauensverhältnis mit der Abteilung Druck und Wertzeichen der PTT Generaldirektion in Bern, verschaffte Karl Bickel die wertvollen, materiellen Voraussetzungen für die Verwirklichung dieses Lebenswerkes.
Als Dank für diese langjährige Anerkennung und der damit verbundenen Vertrauensbeweise als freier Mitarbeiter einer staatlichen Institution, schenkte Karl Bickel 1966 das Monument PAXMAL der eidgenössischen PTT-Verwaltung.
