A Visit to Pearsons Falls.
Although I have been near Pearsons Falls many, many times over the years I have always missed visiting it. It lies within a private nature preserve administered by a group of citizens in and around Saluda, NC. The Garden Club there charges a $5 admission fee per adult to visit the preserve, but not only is the price well worth it, they do an admirable job of protecting the nearly 300 acres of the glen, they also have created a superior infrastructure of trail, rest rooms, and picnic facilities.
If you've never seen the preserve I recommend that you do. My wife and I will return there when the spring flowers begin to open up.

Aerial View of UPPER WHITEWATER FALLS near Lake Jocassee
Here's an Aerial Shot of one of my favorite waterfalls in the south. Upper Whitewater falls flows directly into Lake Jocassee near the Bad Creek Reservoir. Whitewater Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Rockies. The falls plunge an amazing 420 feet! South Carolina's Lower Whitewater Falls drops another 400 feet. Because of the escarpment's difficult access and rugged terrain, much of the area receives few visitors and has remained wild and undeveloped over the years. In the cool, moist shade of steep slopes and rock cliffs, wildflowers and salamanders abound. This wild land is also a perfect haven for a rich array of ferns, mosses, and fungi. During the warmer months be very careful as there's lots of venomous snakes everywhere along Whitewater and the surrounding areas.
Issaqueena Falls and Stump House Tunnel, SC
Issaqueena Falls is named after an old legend where an Indian maiden whose name was Issaqueena, warned settlers at a nearby fort about a potential Indian attack. Once the Indians learned of her betrayal, they pursued her to the falls where she pretended to jump over, but hid on the cascades and escaped.
Located near Walhalla, South Carolina, is a 100 ft (30 m) high cascade waterfall in the Oconee District of the Sumter National Forest.
The Stumphouse tunnel is operated as a public park along with nearby Isaqueena Falls by the city of Walhalla. It is open daily except Christmas Day and during inclement weather from 10am until 5pm. Inside the tunnel, the temperature is a constant 50 degrees with humidity of 85%. The tunnel is easily accessible by foot, a few yards from a gravel parking lot. The tunnel is 17 feet wide, 25 feet high, and nice and cool
The structural integrity of the tunnel is solid and almost no cracking is apparent minus an enlarged vent halfway through the tunnel

Gorges State Park - Hike In and Out of Stairway Falls
In this video you get to see Seth's point of view from his hat mounted GoPro as he and Jeremy go on a hiking trip with a group called The Hi-Tech Hikers. They visit Gorges State Park and hike in to see Stairway Falls, and then hike back out. The trail to get to this waterfall is technically not an official trail, but is frequently traveled by park visitors. This is a very strenuous trail and has some very dangerous areas. Exercise caution if you decide to go off of the main trail to visit this waterfall. If you enjoyed the video and want to see more, please click the Subscribe button!
