2018 Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island
2018 Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island
United States Marine Corps Recruit Training, commonly known as boot camp, is a 13-week program of initial training that each recruit must successfully complete in order to serve in the United States Marine Corps. All enlisted individuals entering the Marine Corps, regardless of eventual active or reserve duty status, will undergo recruit training at one of the two Marine Corps Recruit Depots (MCRD): Parris Island, South Carolina, or San Diego, California. Male recruits from the 8th, 9th and 12th recruiting districts (areas west of the Mississippi River except Louisiana, and including parts of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan) are sent to MCRD San Diego. All recruits from the 1st, 4th and 6th recruiting districts and all female recruits are sent to Parris Island. Those desiring to become officers attend training at Officer Candidates School at Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. Footage from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.
Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island (often abbreviated as MCRD PI) is an 8,095 acres (32.76 km2) military installation located within Port Royal, South Carolina, approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) south of Beaufort, the community that is typically associated with the installation. MCRD Parris Island is used for the training of enlisted Marines. Male recruits living east of the Mississippi River and female recruits from all over the United States report here to receive their initial training. Male recruits living west of the Mississippi River receive their training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, but may train at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island by special request.

HORSE TALES Episode 3
On this weeks episode The Pee Dee Cowboy went to Hartsville, SC for a High School Rodeo. Now this was like nothing we had ever seen before. These kids were 15 and 16 and were riding like pros. We learned a lot and the Pee Dee Cowboy thought he was going to get a chance to ride a bull, but then chickened out at the end. Maybe next time...

Glitter and Grace Debut at Alabama Extreme Equine Productions Drill Competition, Montgomery Alabama
We are Glitter and Grace Mounted Drill Team from the Dothan / Fort Rucker area.
Our riders are a family team consisting of Carol Pendleton ( Mom) and daughters: Lydia (16), Abigail (12) and Naomi (9).
We became involved in the horse world just a few years ago and have been riding as a quadrille for about 4 weeks sincre their Drill Captain, Lydia, was given the Green Light to ride again after a major back surgery. Besides Drill the ladies enjoy many other horse disciplines such as NATRC competitive trail riding, stock horse competition, and barrel racing.
The National Anthem is sung by sister Anna and representing our men in uniform is husband and father, CW4 retired Blaine Pendleton who is a combat veteran and currently serves as a Flight Instructor at Ft Rucker. Brother Micah serves as the team's audio-visual technician and all around helper.
We chose the name Glitter and Grace for our newly formed team because, with 5 daughters in the family we love things that sparkle, and Grace represents our deep love and appreciation for God's grace in our lives as individuals and as a family.
The Team's theme verse is:
EPHESIANS 2:8 which says For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, {it is} the gift of God;
We'd like to give a special thank you to our trainers and friends: Jesse Nichols of Alabama Extreme Equine Productions and Teresa Strickland of Hidden Ridge Farm.
Carrying the flag is Jesse Nichols
