The impressive gothic castle Karlštejn was founded in 1348 as the royal treasury for the imperial crown jewels by the Emperor Charles IV. The visit is a highlight of most our tours. You can see the medieval residential rooms and walk around the castle yards and walls. We also recommend the visit of the precious golden Chapel of the Holy Cross, one of the most important places in Czech Republic. s
Walking down from the castle we can enjoy the local village full of galleries and shops.
But there is much more to see. We recommend you to extend your visit and enjoy some of the other stops that make the visit more special, such as old quarry America, local village of Beroun or amazing glass factory in Nižbor.

Personal Travel: Prague, Czech Republic (2016)
This is our 2nd trip to Prague. Love coming back here! :)
Trdelník is a traditional cake and sweet pastry. It is made from rolled dough that is wrapped around a stick, then grilled and topped with sugar and walnut mix.
Trdelník is found in several Central European countries, most prominently Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia & Hungary (where it is known to come from the Hungarian-speaking part of Transylvania, Romania). The word trdelník is of Czech or Slovak origin.
Founded in 1232, the Klementinum in Prague is the largest and most historic complex of buildings in the Old Town. It covers an area of over two hectares close to the Vltava River, near Charles Bridge. The Klementinum has undergone a rich architectural evolution. Since the Middle Ages many of Europe's great astronomers, scientists, philosophers and musicians have studied and worked here, influencing the development of its wonderful array of buildings.
The Astronomical Tower: 172 steps lead to the top of the tower for 360° views over Prague. A lift operates only part of the way, so not for visitors with walking difficulties. On the 2nd floor of the tower is the Meridian Hall, which was designed to determine noon.
Baroque Library Hall: stunning home of the Czech National Library, housing 20,000 books from the early 17th century onwards. The hall is decorated with magnificent ceiling frescoes, and remains unaltered since the 18th century.
The Žižkov Television Tower (Czech: Žižkovský vysílaè) is a unique transmitter tower built in Prague between 1985 and 1992. Designed by the architect Václav Aulický and the structural engineer Jiøí Kozák. It stands high above the city's traditional skyline from its position on top of a hill in the district of Žižkov, from which it takes its name. The tower is an example of high-tech architecture.
The Absintherie Bar and Museum was opened several years ago, with the aim to introduce not only the taste of quality absinthe but also the correct way of its serving. Many people still believe that absinthe is something dangerous and forbidden. However, nowadays, absinthe is known as premium kind of spirits, produced as pure herbs distillate. This is why all the rumours that absinthe must be green and drinking it will bring you strange sensations are just myths.
And so our Prague Underground Tour Begins.....
Old Town Square at night - just beautiful!
Our Tour guide was explaining the history of the Astronomical Clock
If you enjoyed watching it, please give it a thumbs up! It will mean a lot to me. :)

The Holy Roman Emperor, Czech king Rudolf II, resided in Pilsen twice between 1599-1600.
The City Brewery was founded in 1842 and the Škoda Works in 1859. With the population of 167 000 inhabitants, Pilsen prides itself on being the seat of the University of West Bohemia and Bishopric. Pilsen is the fourth largest city in the Czech Republic. The historical heart of the City - almost identical with the original Gothic layout - was declared protected historic city reserve in 1989. You will certainly admire the architectonic dominant features of the city: Church of St. Bartholomew, the baroque Franciscan monastery, Gothic and Renaissance houses.

Prague Travel Guide - Fairytale Capital of the Czech Republic | 90+ Countries With 3 Kids
'It's easy to fall in love among the winding cobblestone streets and snow-covered castles of Prague” - Dana Newman
The capital of the Czech republic is most definitely a hidden gem in Central Europe which is unfairly shadowed by more famous cities on the oldest continent. Prague might not be as big as London or Paris, but its old charm and its interesting history speak loudly about how this city has been able to jump to modern times with elegance and wit.
Prague, or the Golden City, as many call it, has seen a great number of kings and queens, and it has transformed from a monarchy to an empire going from independence to occupation, totalitarianism and liberation. The prominent landmarks are the shining castle on the top of the hill and its river Vltava that inspired one of its most beloved composers to write a masterpiece.
Another name used for Prague is City of a Hundred Spires, and this city is filled with many bridges, domes, palaces, and spires that convince tourists around the world to come and see this beautiful mix of Gothic, Renaissance, baroque, and art nouveau buildings. However in more recent years a great deal of construction in has transformed it into a more modern city, with state-of-the art public buildings, an underground railway, and a newly designed highway system.
