Russia: Lion cub found walking alone in Ufa city centre
A lion cub was found walking alone through the centre of the Russian city of Ufa on Tuesday before a passer-by managed to tie the cub, who was wearing a collar, to the fence.
The Emergencies Ministry was contacted and animal control experts were sent to deal with the lion, who will now be sheltered temporarily at the Park of Foresters.
It is currently unknown how the lion got onto the streets or who its previous owner was.

A Baby Lion Found in a Street of Russia's Ufa
Rescuers are used to see strange things, but this discovery seems to have surprized them, too. The lion cub was found in a street in Russia's Ufa: left all alone, hungry and scared. Fortunately, help came on time and now the little one is safe and sound.

The Day of The First-Former. Real Russia ep.113 (4K)
The Day Of The First-Former is an original holiday invented and managed by Ufanet, the largest provider of Internet and cable television in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
This is a special event celebrated at the first Sunday of September and dedicated to all children who are just started to study at school (first-formers).
It is starts with a volunteers of Ufanet coming to all schools of Ufa and many other cities who joined this idea, and photograph all of them. They also write down their names and who they wants to be in the future.
Then, just for a couple of days, Ufanet workers are making a huge efforts to print out all of those photographs on a big wide canvases and mount them all to the long fence of the Kashkadan Park of Ufa, Russia.
These canvases consisted of the photos, names and preferable professions of the first-formers are sorted by schools and their grades (classes). So, finally it creates a huge Alley of the First-Formers.
But, still it’s only a little part of the whole holiday in the Kashkadan Park.
During the holiday there works many areas dedicated to different professions and interests.
The areas of the Fire and Police Departments, Ambulance and Emergency Service.
Concert scene for perfomances of children’s collectives.
Dance floor for master classes and competitions of dance schools of Ufa, presenting all kinds of styles and genres.
The Animal’s World for pet’s exhibition.
The City of Creativity for hand craft, arts and robotechnics.
Portable TV and Radio studios where kids can record their greetings for future’s broadcast.
And many other interesting things to do.
In the culmination of the holiday are salut and thousands of balloons launch.

Russia: Not your usual pet - Russian family adopts lion in Nizhniy Novgorod
Most families adopt a dog or a cat, but this family in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod chose the king of the jungle, a lion cub named Kiara, as a pet for the family, Wednesday.
SOT, Olga Dementieva, Owner of lion (Russian): The lion appeared at our house just three days ago. Sometimes we keep her in the little cage, because she is really very playful. She gnaws our slippers and shoes. I think it will be a quite difficult to keep such animal in the apartment.
SOT, Olga Dementieva, Owner of lion (Russian): It is okay, you know, I think it is fun and unusual [to keep a lion as a pet]. It is hard at night because she is going crazy, scratching and trying to climb onto the bed. In the beginning I was very uncomfortable; I was worried, because we live with my younger brother. But they became friends very soon and have a great relationship now. We all became accustomed to it.
