The Voronezh Russian song and dance ensemble is one of the leading Folkloric ensembles in Russia. Over a number of years the Chorus has been enjoying nation-wide popularity performing unique songs, dances and folklore of Sothern-Russian Voronezh culture it has managed to preserve. The female voices are characterized by their depth, richness, mellow velvet timbre. The singing harmonizes with spectacular dances based on folklore traditions. The whole colorful performance is accompanied by a folk-instrument ensemble which presents its own solo show pieces. Reviving old truly folk art forms the ensemble uses all genres variety Voronezh folklore has to offer.
The range of music performed by the Chorus varies from songs a capella to traditional folk rhymes and songs of contemporary composers as well as stately khorovods (circle dances) and vigorous folk dances.
The outstanding achievements of the Voronezh Russian song and dance ensemble have received wide acclaim. The Chorus is a repeated laureate of national and international festivals, shows and competitions. The Ensemble has visited not only all Russian regions and republics of the former USSR but has also toured more than 45 countries abroad. The mission of the Chorus is to promote Russian folk art and bring fame to Voronezh land.
In 1986 The Voronezh Russian song and dance ensemble was awarded a title of honor academic chorus for its contribution to the development of the folk professional art.
Currently, The Voronezh Russian song and dance ensemble is regarded the jewel of Voronezh land representing singing and dancing culture of the South Russia on stage. Its artistic director is Vjatcheslav Pomelnikov , a People's Artist of the RF, a professor and a composer.
For seventy years the ensemble has presented a great many of unforgettable performances, some of which became a classic of genre. Nevertheless, the ensemble keeps on entertaining its audience with new singing, dancing, orchestra numbers, vocal and choreographic compositions and concert program parts.
In 2010 Vjatcheslav Pomelnikov and his ensemble were awarded the Award of the Russian Federation Government in the Arts.

In January 2018, The Danish Broadcast Corporation (DR) aired a concert called “The Morricone Duel” performed by The Danish National Symphony Orchestra /DR SymfoniOrkestret, The Danish National Concert Choir with various soloists conducted by Sarah Hicks.
The score is available on all regular Streaming-Platforms.
The music performed was titles from a wide range of western movies and mafia movies reflecting different perspectives on an Italian-American movie and film music style.
Featured composers were Ennio Morricone, Bernard Herrmann, Nino Rota and Sonny Bono with music from films by Sergio Leone, Quentin Tarantino, Brian DePalma and Francis Ford Coppola.

Pei-Wen Liao, fourteen-year-old Taiwanese virtuoso performs with the Voronezh Philharmonic on October 18, 2008, conductor, Mak Ka-lok. Due to time constraints of YouTube, this is a ten minute excerpt of her 25 minute bravura performance of the Max Bruch Violin Concerto in G minor.
About the conductor: Mak Ka-lok is an Austrian conductor born in Hong Kong and has won many prizes in the Hong Kong School Music Festival and under his direction, first prize for his high school band. He obtained his Diploma of Arts in 1980 from the Vienna Music Conservatory, won the International Conductor Competition of Modern Music in Austria and obtained a diploma from the Toscannini Conducting Competition in Italy in 1986. Mak is now the principal conductor of the Voronezh Philharmonic Orchestra and has made over 50 recordings in Russia. He has worked with various orchestras in Europe and has toured in Hong Kong and Taiwan. Pei-Wen Liao credits Mak Ka-lok for showing her how to project the sound of her (un-amplified) violin above the entire symphony orchestra.

In 2007, Alexandra has performed with the Munich Kammerphilharmonie in the most famous Gasteig concert hall in Munich in Germany. The same year, she has performed the Paganini violin concerto with the Cairo symphony orchestra in Egypt. In 2008, she has performed the Mozart violin concerto with the Sibiu Philharmonic In Romania and the Lipetsk symphony orchestra in Austria.

Victor Bunin was born in Voronezh in 1936. His first musical impressions were connected with his father, famous composer Vladimir Vasilievich Bunin. After his family moved to Moscow, Victor Bunin became a musical student at the Musical College of the Moscow Tchai-kovsky Conservatoire under Olga Mukhortova, and later, Mirra Sever.
After graduation from the Musical College, Bunin studied at the Moscow Conservatoire under professor Samuil Feinberg (in 1956 - 1962), and then went onto post-graduate courses with professor Victor Merzhanov.
In 1961, Victor Bunin appeared in All-Russian piano competition and made off with the first prize.
The pianist's agenda is well-packed with recitals and tours in Russia and abroad (Great Britain, France, Italy, Yugoslavia, USA, Syria, Ireland and other countries).
Victor Bunin has made regular ap-pearances with Russian orchestras, including the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and All-Union TV and Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Konstantin Ivanov, Boris Khaikin, Eduard Serov, Gennady Tcherkassov, Vassili Sinaisky, Emin Khachaturian etc.
His extensive and diverse repertoire includes the traditional Western classic works in addition to late nineteenth and twentieth century composers (Tchaikovsky, Rubinstein, Rachma-ninov, Scriabin, Medtner, Alexandrov, Feinberg, Prokofiev, Vladimir Bunin - the pianists father, - Razorenov, Golubev, Rekhin).
Victor Bunin recorded vinyl and compact discs for many recording companies, among them - Melody, Russian Disc, EMI and others. He also participated in three films for the All-Union Central TV and appeared in several TV concert programs.
Since 1963, Mr. Bunin has taught piano at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, Central Music school and Music college (both under Mos-cow Conservatoire).
Since 1993 he also has taught at the Syrian National Conservatoire in Da-mascus and at the Lebanese National Superior Conservatoire in Beirouth.
Many of his students became prize-winners of different international piano competitions. Professor Bunin held master classes around Russia, USA, Italy, Ireland, Finland, Lebanon; he participated in the jury in several piano competitions in Russia and Europe.
He is the honoured member of the international association Skalkottas - Feinberg in Paris. In Russia, he was awarded the title of the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation.
Professor Bunin is the author of two books dedicated to the great Russian pianist, composer and pedagogue Sa-muil Feinberg (S.E.Feinberg. His life and work; Pedagogics of Samuil Feinberg; both published by Musica publishing house in 1999 and 2000). He has also written a number of articles on the subject of musical performance that were issued in different music magazines.
