Exploring Caves and National Park | Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng | Vietnam Travel Vlog
We think Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng has to be one of our favourite places in Vietnam! It is home to the 1st and 3rd largest caves in the world, and was where some of the filming took places for the movie - Kong : Skull Island! The caves are incredible, especially Dark Cave, which has no artificial lighting, where we had to zipline to the entrance! Paradise Cave was huge, stretching 31.4km long!
We also explored the national park, which is breathtaking! Amazing views and nature. We didn't spot much wildlife, as it is so vast and dense, but we read that the Asiatic Black Bear is known to the area.

About Paradise Cave:
Paradise Cave dubbed as “underground palace” Heaven is one of the wonders of the magnificent and magical world most. Cave is nestled deep in the World Natural Heritage National Park Phong Nha Ke Bang, terrain catto neck, dating formed today about 350 to 400 million years. Heaven is located at Km 16 from West Branch edge of Ho Chi Minh road about 4km of Son Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province, the center of Dong Hoi city about 70km to the northwest edge West Road branch in Ho Chi Minh . Phong Nha way about 25km journey west branch north Truong Son Street, very convenient way.
Paradise Cave newly discovered cave in VietNam and it was considered the largest complex of caves in the world. This system of interconnected caves was discovered in 2005 by scientists from the British Cave Research Association with the help of a local man. It is the most beautiful cave in the Phong Nha Ke Bang area, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The whole length is 31 km long but only 900m was opened to the public.
Paradise Cave, the cave was discovered by a local man in 2005 and 5 first km of this cave was explored by explorers from British Cave Research Association in 2005, the whole 31 km was explored and publicly announced by the British cave explorers. This cave is 31 km long, longer than Phong Nha Cave which had been considered the longest cave in this national park.
I am not really into cave but this one is not like anything i had seen before. Looking at the pictures i was spellbound by the beauty and dream of the day to visit.
Paradise Cave: he height can reach to 100 m and 150 wide. The limestone formation is also more spectacular than that of Phong Nha Cave. In 2012, a new scorpion species Vietbocap thienduongensis was found here. The British cave explorers was impressed by the beautiful and spectacular stalactites and stalagmites inside this cave and they named it Thiên Đường Cave (Paradise Cave).
Paradise Cave
Thiên Đường Cave (Paradise Cave) is a cave in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, UNESCO’s World Heritage Site, 60 km northwest of Đồng Hới city.
According to experts, Paradise is more beautiful and magnificent than Phong Nha and Tien son.
A local named Ho Khanh said that Paradise Cave was discovered and attracted the attention of many scientists, explorers, international community, tourists in Vietnam travel.
In February, the crew of “Where 2 Next?“, a pilot television series about no-destination traveling, stopped in at Paradise Cave (Dong Thien Duong), part of the new Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park cave system that just opened to the public on December 24th, 2010. It was magical. Barely anyone there, we were of course, too rushed for time, and trying to take it all in was almost a futile effort. Besides the principal photography for the show I managed to shoot off a few stills to try to capture a rough perspective of the scale and beauty of this cave. Definitely a highlight of our trip for me, the Paradise Caves were unlike anything I have ever seen before in my life.
Paradise Cave (Thien Duong Cave) is newly-discovered cave in Quang Binh Province. Its length is 31 km. The widest spot is about 150 meters. It brings a fantastic beauty that make tourists in Vietnam Tourism praise.
It was discovered in 2005 but after five years of mining, paving the way, building the up-and-down way, Paradise Cave is opened by Truong Thinh Group in September 2011.

Welcome to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park
Designated a Unesco World Heritage site in 2003, the remarkable Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park contains the oldest karst mountains in Asia, formed approximately 400 million years ago. Riddled with hundreds of cave systems – many of extraordinary scale and length – and spectacular underground rivers, Phong Nha is a speleologists’ heaven on earth.
The Phong Nha region is changing fast. Son Trach town (population 3000) is the main centre, with an ATM, a growing range of accommodation and eating options, and improving transport links with other parts of central Vietnam.
The caves are the region's absolute highlights, but the above-ground attractions of forest trekking, the area's war history, and rural mountain-biking means it deserves a stay of around three days.

Jungle Boss Trek in Phong Nha National Park
What an epic adventure, trekking through the mangroves of Phong Nha National Park. Huge thanks to Jungle boss for making it happen, allowing us to bring our DJI phantom 4 drone with us to capture the park from above!
The trek took all day including 7km of climbing through the jungle mangroves to reach 2 beautiful caves and a tranquil lunch spot next to a fish infested natural pond! This trek had it all, we highly recommend Jungle Boss.
We went to visit Elephant cave first, before swimming in Tra Ang Cave at the end of our trek. Not for the typical tourist, this was a tough days work, but the caves and the jungle experience made it so enjoyable at the same time.
There are many caves in the Phong Nha National Park, this is just two of the more quieter options... which can only be seen with Jungle Boss.
Dong Hoi
We decided to stay in the city of Dong Hoi, approximately 1 hour from Phong Nha national park. The city seemed quiet, not many tourists around. There's a beach not far from the centre which we had to ourselves (a bit cold this time of year in February). Nice vibes, friendly people, but if we were to do it all again, we would stay in a homestay closer to the park and do several treks / cave tours instead!
That sums up our adventure here in central Vietnam...

Imagine being in a jungle surrounded by the some of the world’s mightiest caves! That’s the kind of bucket list experience you’ll have in the Tu Lan Caves system in Tan Hoa, Vietnam. Exploring this spectacular region is a journey that’ll inspire you in every way.
#thrillingjourneys #realadventure #adrenalinerush
About the caves and tours:
The area of Tu Lan lies 70 km away from Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, next to the minority village of Tan Hoa, just past the fields of grazing buffalo and rapidly growing peanut and cornfields.
Exploring Tu Lan Caves System will see you trekking through remote, untouched jungle; crossing buffalo fields; being surrounded by giant, looming, limestone mountains on all sides; and plunging into deep, cool, underground rivers that wind gracefully through mountains and river valleys alike.
Aside from the beauty though, it’s the adventure of swimming through the river caves that makes this tour unmatchable to anything else around. As you swim through each cave, you’re surrounded by gorgeous limestone formations, seen only by the light of your headtorch, and the fading daylight of the cave entrance!
The rewards for this exploration include watching flurries of butterflies surround camp; sleeping under the stars in a tent, with the breeze floating lazily around you; sitting by a campfire telling stories, singing songs, and drinking rice wine; listening to the beautiful waterfalls gush around you; learning (hopefully) the words to popular Vietnamese songs, singing national anthems, and playing games; eating barbecue pork, fresh fruit, springs rolls, and more; and venturing through areas that are almost completely unexplored, and boast some of the greatest biodiversity in the country.

Backpacking Vietnam Part 7: Peaks and Caves in Da Nang
This was the first day since living on Koh Tao that we rented a motorbike again and I can't put my finger on it, or accurately describe it but being on a motorbike and just going with the wind is the best feeling in the world. If you own a motorized scooter, hog, or anything else that can get past 20 mph then you get it. Since we had a bike, we needed a destination so we hit up Marble Mountain in Da Nang, about a 40 minute drive down the road. We saw signs for Marble mountain and all the statues when we past by via bus from Hue (part 5) but went in completely cold on what we'd see or so there. Not reading a thing on this place turned out to be the best decision we didn't consciously make ever! Hours and hours of caves, view points, and stone carvings - it was like a long forgotten temple and we were the first to re-discover it. We really channeled our inner Laura Croft and Indian Jones here. Vietnam continues to surprise us, each day a new adventure as long as we're together and just go where the wind is blowing.

Just 20KM south of Hio An, lies Marble Mountain, one of five mountains that tower above Non Nuoc Hamlet; a quaint little place that’s jam-packed with marble statue carvings of all shapes and sizes.
We were dwarfed by the statues and stood in awe at their craftsmanship! After a chat with the friendly locals we headed to the stairway of 156 steps that lead up to the summit.
Steps sequence
Shamefully, we read absolutely nothing about marble mountain before we ARRIVED; other than knowing it was a mountain… and IT WAS made of marble.
Once we reached the top we saw a beautiful panoramic view of the China Sea, as well as a temple and we figured that would be it; time to head back down… but then we found a path….
Big Cave sequence
At the center of the mountain and slightly hidden from view is a passage leading to Huyen Khong Cave.
Two mandarin statues guard the entrance to this massive cavern, which was once used as a filed hospital and hiding place by the viet kong during wartime;
(given it’s close proximity to Da Nang proper, the viet cong were quit literally hiding in plane sight, as the city was major base of operations for the South Vietnamese and US forces during the war)
Noah, I must tell you that your beard shines with the light of 1000 moons and Your wife Lynn is the most beautiful thing to step upon this mountain Most importantly, every one should subscribe to your YouTube channel and share your adventures.
This will bring you lucky. Thank you for watching.
