The Uk's Most Photogenic City! | Edinburgh Travel Vlog
Is Edinburgh The UK's most photogenic city? I think it might be.
See my photos of Edinburgh on IG @brendanvanson.
After a really poor night's sleep, Jodie and I pushed north into Scotland and eventually Edinburgh.
The plan was to spend the day in the photogenic city, but we arrived pretty late and I had business meetings all day. So, we didn't eventually get out and explore until early evening.
And, to be honest, both of us were exhausted after the drive and time spent in meetings in Edinburgh. But, going out to shoot photos at sunset in the city totally brought the spirits up.
Edinburgh is likely the most photogenic city in The Uk, or at least of the major cities. It's absolutely beautiful.
We kind of planned on not shooting and instead just enjoying the views and taking it easy, but how can you come to a city that's so photogenic and not shoot a bunch of photos. So, I busted out the gear and we ended up taking quite a few images. And, at the end of it all, I was really happy with the pictures I got of the city. Edinburgh is totally instagrammable.
Of course, we weren't the only people up at the view point taking pictures. The city is busy, especially with fringe festival going on. But, the crowds weren't bad, and the photos that came out of the day totally made the crowds worth shooting through.
I'm really stocked to be back in Scotland. It's a country I've really only spent limited time in. And while Edinburgh is photogenic, I think the country as a whole is as well.
Tomorrow, there's another Scotland vlog as we push towards the Isle of Skye.

With a seriously large amount of travel coming up to some dense urban metropolises such as LA, New York, Toronto and Tokyo; we realised our window of opportunity to visit Scotland was very slim before the days get colder and darker.
Embarrassingly, neither Elly or I had ever been to Scotland. Yet we've been all the way around the other side of the world to the far reaches of New Zealand... We wanted to change that and make the quick hop up from London to experience some of the best nature the UK has to offer.
Our 2-day road trip consisted of a loop from Edinburgh into the Highlands via Loch Lomond, to Loch Ness, Glenfinnan and the Isle of Skye, before journeying back towards Edinburgh. I wanted to make a travel vlog similar to how this channel used to look a couple of years ago, featuring more about the journey and our overall experience rather than a segment of a particular photography day. I really enjoyed making it and look forward to part 2 coming in the next few days!
P.S. A note on the drone footage quality: After reviewing the footage from this trip, I noticed a lot of the watercolour effect happening. I've since adjusted from -1 sharpening to +1 sharpening on my Mavic Pro in an attempt to disable to noise reduction algorithm causing the bad quality picture. Hopefully it's all good for the next time I use my drone!

Edinburgh Photo Walk Vlog - Calton Hill and the Royal Mile
This is my first video on the channel that comes from the east coast of Scotland, as I went through to Edinburgh to record this vlog.
Edinburgh as we all know is one of the most picturesque cities in the world and has plenty of its own landmarks, which make it a great tourist attraction. So, I figured I would make this my last travel vlog of the year, atlhough not necessarily my last video of the year.
The video itself features some video footage and images shot up at Calton Hill, home of the Monument of Scotland, Nelson Monument and other notable sites as well as some footage on the Royal Mile, featuring images of St Giles cathedral and Parliament Square.
Unfortunately I did start the video a little later than I would have liked due to my bus being held up in traffic and I ended up running short on time by the end of the night, so I didn't get as many night shots as I would have liked. However I still think I managed capture some interesting images in the video and I hope enjoy them.

Sunset Photography in Edinburgh - Newhaven Lighthouse
▶ Check out my gear on Kit:
#Coastal #Sunset #Photography - It's that time of year again when the sunsets are blazing and at a time of day that you can head out, take some photographs and return for dinner. For this trip, I stayed local and headed down to Newhaven Harbour where there is a lovely lighthouse perched at the end of the harbour wall. I was hoping for some high clouds to allow the sunset to light up the sky. Stunning evening and a nice couple of shots to take away.
