Patong is the most famous beach resort on Phuket. With its wide variety of activities and nightlife, Patong is an ideal place to party and play. By night the town has a bustling nightlife which includes literally hundreds of restaurants, beer bars, Go Go Bars and of course night clubs. The nightlife is centred around Soi Bangla (Bangla Road) however there are quiet parts of town.

PHUKET TV NEWS: PHUKET TAXI DRIVER RETURNS 3,000 EUROS
A 57-year old French tourist Andre Cellier took a taxi to Patong when he arrived here on January 22nd. He left his bag in the cab -- it contained his passport, mobile phone and 3,300 Euros. So he contacted the Tourist Police and they discovered that taxi driver Chatree Saengon had found the bag and had filed a report about the missing items.
Honarary French Consul Mr. Claude de Crissey was contacted to help arrange a meeting between Mr. Cellier and Mr. Chatree and after a week this took place and MrCellier received back his lost items. MrCellier gratefully thanked the cabbie and the Tourist Police for the help in recovering his belongings.

Getting Around in Phuket
Getting Around in Phuket Thailand is easy! Most of the beach resorts are small enough to walk around and most hotels are located close to the beach, restaurants and shopping areas. However, if you feel like doing a little exploring around the island but your hotel is not on one of the main beaches, there are a number of transport options for you to choose from, including public buses, which are air-conditioned “micro” buses that service the Phuket Town area. And then there’s private bus services, known as “Songthaew”. But these blue pick-up trucks, decked with bench seats and a cover, run along set routes, but will stop anywhere along the way to drop off or pick up passengers. Songthaew buses leave from Ranong Road and serve most of the island with a regular service, travelling between the hub at Phuket Town and the destination.
Typically, but not always, the destination is written in English on a sign on the side of the bus. A number of pink Songthaew buses also run on two routes from Phuket City to Big C and Tesco, and Super Cheap to Chaofa Road. If the bus is moving, it is necessary to wave at the driver to signal him or her to stop and allow new passengers to get on. Payment is made to the driver when disembarking the bus. To get off, signal the driver by ringing the bell. The fare is typically between 15 to 35 thai baht for a designated route depending on the distance travelled.
There are few metered taxis operating on the island, and can generally be found outside of Phuket airport to the right of the main terminal building. Before starting any journey it is suggested to try and insist the fare meter be turned on if it is not switched on already. If this is not possible, it may be necessary to negotiate a fare. For shorter trips in and around Phuket Town, you may want to consider a motorbike taxi – which costs about 20 baht per person, depending on the distance. For those in the mood for a little island hopping, speedboats or long tail boats are also available from Chalong Bay pier or Rawai beach in the south of the island. Individual tickets may be purchased or an entire boat may be chartered. Tickets can be arranged on arrival or as part of a package from a travel agent in Phuket.
There are many car rental services on Phuket. Cars or jeeps can be rented at the airport, in Phuket Town, and at most of the more popular beaches. Do keep in mind that while most international car rental agencies will offer you a full-overage insurance, while some local companies may or may not. Another option would be to rent a bike, but for around 150 to 300 baht per day you can hire your own 100-150cc motorbike, which will typically require you to leave your passport as a deposit.
Be sure to inspect bikes before rental, put on a helmet, and drive with extreme caution as rental motorbikes are not normally insured and accidents are frequent. Regardless, inspect rental vehicles prior to rental and drive with caution, particularly as traffic in Thailand can be quite confusing. Motorcycles can be rented from rental agencies located on Rasada Road or from different operators at various beaches.

Thailand Interviews: Bangkok Taxi Driver
■ THAILAND, BANGKOK: Of all the cab drivers in this world, I'd say by far the funnest and most open are the ones in Bangkok. The taxi drivers of this city are always up for a chat and a laugh regardless of what topic of conversation comes up. There's only one problem though, may don't speak that much english. Luckily I can still converse somewhat ok in Thai despite the fact that it has been a decade since I was really practicing the language on a daily basis.
So when I landed i Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi's airport this morning I made sure to not miss the opportunity to freshen up on my Thai vocabulary plus have a little talk wth the driver about his life a a cab driver. So what does he earn monthly? What does t cost to be a driver and get a taxi license? Watch and find out...
Thailand 2015: Phuket Town to Phi Phi Island
Song: Job 2 Do - Doo Doo Doo
(not my song)
November 2015
Vanessa:
We first landed in Phuket Airport at 06:00, where we were bombarded by taxi drivers trying to give us the best deal to take us to our hostel. When we arrived at our hostel it was literally 2 mattress on the floor and a fan on the wall, but hey, it was cheap, we had our own room and its Thailand.
We stayed there for 2 days to recover from jet lag and to adjust to the weather (coming from The Netherlands to Thailand)
Next we got on a boat to Phi Phi Island, the boat trip was great we got a little tour of the islands. When we arrived we were told to pay a small fee that goes towards helping the people there clean up after tourist. We were then again bombarded with people trying to sell us things and hotels and hostels and boat trips and boat taxis, literally everyone wanted to sell us something. Phi Phi for me was a very overrated place, yes it was beautiful and the beach was very nice but everything was over priced!
Luke:

Uber vs Taxis in Thailand
I took both an Uber and a taxi to compare both services in Bangkok, Thailand. I discovered many positives in taking both transportation services, and very few negatives. Both transportation services offer a very competitive price, good service and great customer service.

How To Get The Best Deal On Taxis In Thailand
I recently visited Phuket, Thailand and while at Patong Beach I was approached by two taxi drivers. I am pretty good at haggling so I decided to try and get a deal on a roundtrip ride from Bangla road to Big Buddha and then to Krabi and back for 1,500 baht (It worked!) Here is how I did it and how you can too.
