2. MORE INFO ABOUT THE VIDEO ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
What do you eat and drink in the Mercado de San Miguel (aka the San Miguel Market)? It’s such a common question. And I understand the confusion! This place has so many options, and can get really busy!
In this video I take you inside the San Miguel Market for a food tour of sorts. We eat and drink at 9 different stops - including vermouth, olives, cheese, bacalao, fried fish, pintxos, paella and gelato. And I give you my honest opinion on each stop.
I also answer the following questions
- Is the Mercado de San Miguel a market?
- Is the Mercado de San Miguel a tourist trap?
- What time is the best time to visit the Mercado de San Miguel?
The places I stopped at to eat were:
1. La Hora del Vermut for vermouth and banderillas and olives
2. Mya Quesos for cheese
3. La Casa del Bacalao for bacalao and smoked sardines
4. Mr Pinkleton for wine
5. El Señor Martín for fried seafood
6. Arzábal for patatas bravas
7. Amaiketako for pintxos
8. Paella Power for paella
9. Rocambolesc for gelato
And I also give you my opinion on the market as a whole. Is it worth visiting? I think if it’s your first time then yes. But go when it’s quieter, and know that sometimes the prices are expensive. But that it’s a fun place to get your tapas sea legs. So it really should be the beginning of your tapas adventure, not the end of it.
And other traditional markets that I recommend you check out are:
1. Mercado de Antón Martín (don’t confuse this with Mercado de San Antón which is in Chueca - I don’t love it… it’s sort of a market, but not really a place where the grannies shop).
2. Mercado de la Paz
3. Mercado San Fernando
4. Mercado de las Maravillas
Enjoy!

Hello hello! Melissa here, back in the US of A but still making my way through the various videos I filmed during our family's summer adventure. Today's video follows me and the girls during an evening out in Madrid complete with tapas and a Spanish dance performance. None of us had ever seen flamenco dance before so we weren't sure what to expect. We left enchanted.
When planning my trip with my 5 and 7 year old girls (my boys being away at a sleep away soccer camp), I deliberated over what to do in Madrid. First off, it was HOT, really hot. Second, Marielle can make it through an hour or two tops at a museum or restaurant so our sightseeing visits had to be limited. Finally, the girls are not soccer aficionados like the boys, whom I took last year to see the Real Madrid stadium.
My girls love dance so I asked the hotel to recommend a Flamenco dancing act. As we entered the black box theatre at 9 p.m. (yes, Mommy relaxed the bedtime hour), the crowd (all my age or older) sipped wine and sangria. You get the picture: this wasn't a kids show.
Take a look at my video to see some of the amazing flamenco dancing we witnessed that night and tell me what you think. Emotional, powerful and raw, this traditional form of dance pairs women with me but also offers many solo performances. You can feel the pain in the faces and movements of these electric Spanish dancers, each of whom tells a singular, unique story.
Thanks so much for watching and see you back soon on CloudMom.
Melissa

[Madrid, Spain] Watching Flamenco Dance in Madrid - Menonton Tari Flamenco di Madrid
This video was taken during my Spring trip in Madrid. My Spanish friend drove me to Madrid's city center. She booked tickets to see a Flamenco dance in a traditional bar of Madrid. The name of the bar is La Taberna de Mister Pinkleton. The ticket fee costed 25 Euro per person, including a glass of Sangria (Spanish red wine) and some little snack. It was really nice performance of Flamenco dancers. They were coming from Andalusia (Southern Spain) and performing their arts in Madrid. I and other visitors were invited to dance in the stage too. The Trip to Spain - Trailer
After jaunts through northern England and Italy, Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon embark on another deliciously deadpan culinary road trip. This time around, the guys head to Spain to sample the best of the country's gastronomic offerings in between rounds of their hilariously off-the-cuff banter. Over plates of pintxos and paella, the pair exchange barbs and their patented celebrity impressions, as well as more serious reflections on what it means to settle into middle age. As always, the locales are breathtaking, the cuisine to die for, and the humor delightfully devilish.
