En el año 2007, el diario británico The Guardian elaboró un listado con sus 10 playas favoritas, y el primer puesto lo ocupaba la Playa de Rodas, localizada en las Islas Cíes, en la Ría de Vigo.

Rodas beach on the Cies Islands of Spain. The beach is an onshore bar which links The Do Faro island to the North island. Behind the beach is a lagoon which is filled by the sea during high tide.

14.CIES ISLANDS: Pure, Natural & Magical
Cíes Islands are one of the most important tourist attractions not only of Galicia but of Spain in general. It is composed of 3 islands (North Island, Middle Island and South Island).
Pure:It is a naturally protected area so only a specific number of people is allowed to go and stay each day in order to protect it and not overcrowd it. Nobody is allowed to build there or even litter. Everyone should keep their trash until they return to the mainland.
Natural:It is full of beautiful greenery, interesting rock formations and numerous walking paths to discover the islands. Also, a big variety of bird species exist in the islands especially seagulls (the world's largest colony around 22,000 pairs).
Magical: Its beauty is hard to capture in all its essence but the view is stunning.
The music of the video isn't random but it reflects the musical tradition of the area of Galicia. The people of the area have Celtic routes and the gaitas (bagpipes) are the main indication of their origins. Spain isn't only paellas and flamenco, it carries different cultures and people. So join me in visiting the pure, natural and magic place of the Cíes Islands.

The Cies Islands are actually legit wholly crap awesome. You can explore on the cheap using public transport or you can hire a private yacht and visit the 'least touristy' of the three islands.

Did you even knew these islands existed?
The Cies islands are right in front of the Vigo bay area in Spain and are a natural reserve and a hidden paradise, you even need a special government authorization to be able to enter the islands. In 2007 the Rodas beach was considered the most beautiful beach in the world by The Guardian. If you like paradisaical islands and to enjoy the calmness and quiet sounds of nature this is a destination for you!

Las Islas Cíes son el mayor tesoro de la ría de Vigo: Un increíble Parque Nacional Marítimo-Terrestre y uno de los lugares más hermosos del país, de ahí que los romanos les pusieran el nombre de las islas de los dioses.
Cíes forma parte del Parque Nacional Illas Atlánticas: un paraíso de playas paradisíacas y aguas cristalinas, con un entorno natural que lo convierten en un observatorio de fauna y flora único.
Una visita a Cíes es ideal tanto para practicar senderismo en familia como para una escapada en busca de playas vírgenes y tranquilas. Se puede hacer una excursión de un día en barco a Cíes o alquilar un yate en Vigo. O, si prefieres, pasar un fin de semana en Cíes de acampada. Además, es un lugar excepcional para bucear en la ría de Vigo y, con suerte, podrás nadar rodeado de arroaces (los delfines autóctonos, de menor tamaño).
Las islas Cíes, en el municipio de Vigo, forman un archipiélago situado en la boca de la ría del mismo nombre, en las Rías Bajas gallegas, en la Provincia de Pontevedra (España), formado por tres islas: Norte o Monteagudo, Del Medio o do Faro y Sur o San Martín. Las dos primeras se encuentran unidas artificialmente por una escollera y naturalmente por el arenal de la Praia de Rodas. Están orientadas según un sistema de fracturas paralelo a la costa en dirección N-S. Distan aproximadamente 14,5 km de la ciudad de Vigo. Fueron declaradas parque natural en 1980, y están incluidas en el Parque Nacional de las Islas Atlánticas de Galicia creado en 2002.
En febrero del año 2007 el periódico británico The Guardian eligió la playa de Rodas como la mejor playa del mundo.
En noviembre del año 2013 el Ayuntamiento de Vigo inició los trámites para que las Islas sean declaradas Patrimonio de la Humanidad, posteriormente en mayo del año 2017 la Junta de Galicia envío su solicitud al Ministerio de Cultura solicitando que todo el conjunto del parque de las Islas Atlánticas sea reconocido por la Unesco.
