In the historic centre of Seville, the Iglesia de El Salvador was constructed on the remains of a mosque that dates back well over 1,000 years. With some remains of the mosque still present, this is a famous church in and around Seville. Highlights include a tall bell tower, a collection of altarpieces dating back to the 18th century, fountains and large, established orange trees.
Open: Monday to Saturday - 08:45 to 10:00 and 18:30 to 21:00 , 10:30 to 14:00 and 19:00 to 20:45 Sunday and holidays.
Visited this Church with a group from Malta with Brittannia Tours guided by Mr. Manuel Grima. Photos by JJP Zammit and music from the CD CRUX FIDELIS by the Laudate Pueri Choir of St. Georges Basilica - Gozo . Hopefully I will be able to upload more videos from this 2011 Easter Visit to Andalucia, as I produce them.

Seville, City Walk in the Center and Old Town - Spain 4K Travel Channel
Seville is the capital of Andalusia. With 700,000 inhabitants, it is the fourth largest city in Spain. We have chosen a simple but good hotel in the Calle de la Alhóndiga in the old city. From here we can easily reach almost every point of the city by foot. The Calle de la Alhóndiga leads through the Calle Corral del Rey and Calle Argote de Molina straight into the center to the Cathedral of Santa María de la Sede of Seville. In the labyrinth of the old town there are so many things to discover, be it a good restaurant, beautiful patios or the Bordados Foronda, a shop for traditional Andalusian clothes and accessories. Bordados Foronda is also a factory where the articles are produced. The friendly lady in the shop allows us some shots. We first visit the Cathedral, which, due to its size and importance, we have devoted an own contribution, just like the Royal Palace Alcazar.
The cathedral is built on the foundations of a mosque of which only the impressive 97 meter high Giralda Tower remained. It was once the minaret. Between Cathedral and Alcazar, we pass the Archivo de Indias, the third UNESCO World Cultural Heritage in Seville. It is the most important collection on Spain's colonial period. The Archivo de Indias is housed in the building of the former stock exchange. In front of the walls of Alcazar, we listen to to Carlos del Rio for a while, whom we owe this beautiful flamenco music.
Through one of the last remaining city gates, the Oil Postigo del Aceite, we go towards Rio Guadalquivir. To our left are the old shipyards, which were connected to the port. They are among the oldest monuments of Seville. To the right you see the post office.
On the riverbanks we pass the Torre del Oro, which we will show in a separate article. We reach the Avenida de la Constitution. Magnificent buildings impress the visitors. Shortly before the city hall we see some flamenco dancers.
On Placa Nueva we make a break while we watch a little boy who simulates to ride on an one of the electric rental bikes.
We enter the old town of Seville, marvel at the architecture and pass by the Iglesia del Salvador. In addition to designer shops we find grocery stores where you can buy everything, as well as exclusive restaurants and traditional bars. Passing the Metropol Parasol we reach our hotel.
