Singapore - 1 Heritage Road and 4 Heritage Trees - Visited 25 Aug & 10 Nov 2012
Joined National Parks (NParks) tours on 2012 August 25th afternoon & November 10th morning to see
A) 1 Heritage Road (Mandai Road near Upper Seletar Reservoir),
B) 4 Heritage Trees:
i) Ordeal Tree (Erythrophleum suaveolens) besides Upper Seletar Reservoir,
ii) several Broad-leafed Mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) at Seletar Air Base,
iii) Rain Tree (Samanea saman) 雨树 at Seletar Air Base,
iv) Tamarind Tree (Tamarindus indica) at Surin Park (10th Nov Tour only)
NParks staff led the tour and handed out several brochures and also passed around a Mahogany brown Sky-fruit or its photo; and Assam fruit samples (on 10th Nov tour). Through their knowledge sharing and enthusiasm, I learned more about these heritage trees and the 10 most common trees (not all are heritage trees).
Big Thanks to them for these public educational tours. Well-done!

Old Beach Road Police Station
Back in the days policemen wore shorts that’s our uniquely Singaporean way of saying that something is outdated; for most of us that's also all we know about old time policing.
Through 'Discovering Singapore's Best Kept Secrets' we found out that police officers and their families were given living quarters at Old Beach Road Police Station and more..... #SLASecretSpaces

Creating dramatic Video Screens in a Museum. Malay Heritage Centre (Singapore)
Creating dramatic video Screens in a Museum. Screen Goo was painted directly on these three walls. Screen Goo Reference White was ideal for this set up which allowed for a controlled light condition. Only two litres of reference white Screen Goo was needed for the creation of these three screens. Malay Heritage Centre (Singapore) - A Pico Art International project.

Predominantly Islamic in atmosphere, the Kampong Glam and Arab Street precinct bristles with Malay, Indonesian, Lebanese, Egyptian, Turkish, and other Middle Eastern eateries. Ethnic restaurants mingle with nondescript hole-in-the-wall outlets, offering a disparate mix of eating experiences. A must-try for visitors is the ‘teh tarik’. This ‘pulled tea’ is made with sweetened condensed milk. A skilled, if not somewhat theatrical tea maker pours tea from on high, thus producing a frothily delightful taste. For local dishes, try the satay or rice with assorted dishes. By night, the shishas or hookas (water pipes filled with aromatic tobacco) together with cushions and carpets make their appearance in some restaurants, producing a laid-back Middle Eastern charm.
