ABOUT US
Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.
We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we're usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we're not RV dealers or full-timers -- we're weekend warriors just like you!
We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

The Pony Express (Fairfield to Ibapah) - Fairfield, UT
Almost 2000 miles of dirt road stretching across the United States from St. Joseph to San Francisco sounds like an overlanders dream come true. Dating back to 1860, The Pony Express was one of the most historic routes in the country. The trail was originally laid out to provide a way for mail to be delivered. Over the course of eight to ten days, riders would traverse mountains and deserts across 8 states (Only two states back then) to deliver main to Sacramento, where it was placed onto a steamer to continue its journey to San Francisco. At its peak, there were believed to be around 190 stations spanning across this historic route. Sadly after only 18 months, the telegraph was brought about and lead to the termination of The Pony Express in October of 1861. Today, much of the track is still available and maintained by the Bureau of Land Management. What took riders eight to ten days to cover at an average speed of seven miles per hour now can be achieved by vehicle in as little as 5 hours depending on speed of travel. Billboards and postings give plenty of information along this trail. Although it may be a maintained route, be sure to pack for desert travel bringing plenty of food, water, and clothing in the colder months.

The Making of National Historic Trails

There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding out there about how national historic trails are designated, administered and managed. This brown-bag talk will review what national historic trails are, how they are studied and designated, how they are administered and managed, and what potential new trails are being considered by Congress.
Mormon Fort Station Genoa - Part 1 The California Trail
The California Trail literally runs right through today's fort. The trek was very difficult for early pioneers as thousands migrated to the west in search of gold and other prospects. This is when some of the earliest settlers came to the region which were Mormons to develop a trading post and station which offered supplies for these pioneers getting ready to traverse the might Sierra Mountains. Genoa is the oldest non native settlement in NV it sparked the growth it needed which would eventually lead to statehood during the Civil War after the Utah War with the Mormons.

Why is Utah the crossroads of the West?
The transcontinental railroad came together 150 years ago in Utah. It happened in the middle of nowhere just north of the Great Salt Lake at Promontory Summit. Utah considers itself the crossroads of the West and its very proud of this moment. So proud they put it on the back of a quarter when state-themed quarters were a thing.
So why is Utah considered the crossroads of the West?

ROBERT HILL - EAGLE MOUNTAIN CITY TV COMMERCIAL
Eagle Mountain City is a master-planned community that captures a neighborhood feel in the midst of Utah's urban corridor.
Eagle Mountain sits just 40 miles southwest of Salt Lake City and 30 miles northwest of Provo, Utah at the western base of the Lake Mountains. The historic Pony Express Trail runs though the city.
Since its incorporation in December 1996, the city's population has grown from 250 residents to more than 20,000, becoming one of the state's fastest growing communities. The population is expected to grow at 10% over the next several years.
Eagle Mountain residents enjoy quiet, safe neighborhoods with plenty of open space where families can play and spend time together. The city's master plan includes more than 30 miles of jogging, bike, and horse trails, connecting Eagle Mountain's residential developments. In a 2007 statistical survey, more than 85% of residents rated their quality of life as good or excellent.
