Kusadasi, Turkey | Ephesus Tour
We had a great visit in Kusadasi, Turkey from our NCL (Norweigian Cruise Line) Arabian Odyssey cruise. We were on the Jade ship. We were able to hire a private taxi using Trip Advisor. The driver met us at the port and did a great job getting us to ancient Ephesus. He was shared some great info about his country along the way. He was very helpful in getting us tickets to enter. He told us where to go and met us at the exit with fresh oranges! We had enough time to do some window shopping and visit a fish market.
Kusadasi Turkey From Port to Ephesus
We get off The Celebrity Silhouette, Cruise ship in Turkey and we find a tour guide and cabbie and he shows us the surrounding areas. When you are crushing around the world and have to hail a cab it helps to haggle and shop around for a good price. Many cab drivers are really pushy in the area of the port exit so it helps to have a little patience, and don't be afraid to walk away. The cab driver we got was parked away from all of the other cab drivers. He was much nicer and spoke better English than the others and the best part he took us to Ephesus and back for the cheapest price. He became our tour guide for the day taking us to many other important historical sites around the area. The area near the port has a lot of tourist type stores. Almost every listed price in the markets is available for negotiation. They have lots of knock off items, and plenty of turkish delight, and hand woven Turkish rugs. The weather here is very similar to southern California, semi arid temperate climate. They grow lots of olives, grapes and citrus trees

Ancient Stadium Hippodrome Ephesus Izmir, Turkey
While Cruising on the Celebrity Silhouette to Kusadasi, Turkey we take a cab ride to one of the oldest most magnificent Geological ruins in al of the world. This huge theater has a seating capacity of over 25,000 people. The price for admission is 25 Turkish Lira (11 Euro) a person to go inside the ancient city to walk through and see the ruins. There are many other attractions that I filmed including, Performers acing out a scene from thousands of years ago when Ephesus was in its heyday. The coolest thing about this city used to have access to the ocean via the road I walk down after I come down from the Stadium. If you look on Google maps Satellite image you can see the access road and where the water Cannel lead right into a little harbor, it has since been full with sand and is more like a marshland.
You have the option of purchasing additional headphones for a audio tour of the city.

Kuşadası
Kuşadası is a resort town on Turkey's Aegean coast and the center of the seaside district of the same name in Aydın Province. Kuşadası lies at a distance of 95 km (59 mi) to the south from the region's largest metropolitan center of İzmir, and 71 km (44 mi) from the provincial seat of Aydın situated inland. Its primary industry is tourism. The district neighbours on the northeast to Germencik district, on the southeast to Söke district, on the west to the Aegean Sea, and on the north to Selçuk district.
The city stands on a bay in the Aegean with the peninsula of Guvercin Ada sticking out into the sea at one end, and the mountain of Pilav Dağı behind.
It is 95 km (59 mi) south of İzmir, the region's largest metropolitan center. It is 71 km (44 mi) from the provincial seat of Aydın situated inland.
Kuşadası has a residential population of 64,359 rising to over half a million during the summer when the large resort fills with tourists (from Turkey itself, northern Europe and the Balkans), plus the hotel staff, bar staff, construction workers, and drivers who are needed to work in the restaurants servicing all these visitors. In addition to the visitors from overseas there is a substantial community of foreigners resident in the area.
Kuşadası caters to tourists, arriving by land, and as the port for cruise ship passengers heading to Ephesus. In a controversial deal in 2003 the previously public-owned port was leased to a private company and renovated to attract luxury cruise liners. The Grand Princess docks here, along with other cruise ships.
There are beaches including the Ladies Beach, the beach at the centrum, the beaches between the Batıhan Hotel and the Nazilli Site, Guzelcamli Town beach and the Dilek Peninsula National Park beach. There are vendors of ice-cream, carpets, leather, and software, and bookshops selling books in English, German, Russian and other languages.
Old houses near the seafront, some of them converted to bars and cafes, are the remnants of old Kuşadası, which has become a modern-European looking town. The hills behind are built up with big hotels and blocks of holiday flats. The building boom in the late 80s and onwards has been continued into the hinterland of Kuşadası.
Transport around the town is by dolmuş (minibus). There are bus and taxi services to the nearest airports, in İzmir and Bodrum. Day trips are available by boat from Kuşadası and Güzelçamlı.
The city is a port of call for cruise ships. The port is linked by a six-lane highway to İzmir's Adnan Menderes Airport
There are daily ferry services to the nearby Greek island of Samos.
Kuşadası's bus station acts as a transport hub. Buses connect to various parts of the country.

Marmaris Introduction Film
Marmaris
Once a sleepy fishing village, Marmaris has ballooned into one of the largest resorts on the Aegean coastof Turkey. Little of its history remains, as the town is now a modern development with tourism at its heart and soul. The population swells to a massive 200,000 in the summer, with most hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and shops catering to low-cost package holidays, although there are facilities for all budgets.
Despite the development which reaches around 10km along the west of the bay, Marmaris is also well-known for its expanse of green, present the whole year round thanks to the pine-covered hills which surround the town. There are many beaches around the bay, and there are ancient cities and seaside villages close by for day trips. The yacht harbour is the biggest and newest in Turkey, and therefore the busiest charter port especially for trips along the Turquoise Coast.
In addition to the climate, beaches and facilities of the town, the transportation infrastructure is a definite plus for attracting visitors. It has easy connections to the nearby airport Dalaman, ferries to Rhodes, and on the road to Datca and Fethiye. The harbour has attracted by private boats from around the world, with yacht maintenance and production in the workshops on the Yalanci Strait. With the climate being comfortable even in winter, and the nearby impressive mountains and pine forests, Marmaris is likely to remain a popular and practical holiday spot for a long time.
History
It is thought that the first settlement in Marmaris, whose history dates back to 3400 BC, began with the arrival of a tribe in to the region, whose leader was called Kar. The area was then called Karla after him, and its location around the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas always made it an appealing region.
Suleyman the Magnificent assembled a force of 200,000 in 1522, whilst launching the siege of the Knights of St John's base in Rhodes (Rodos). Soon afterwards, he made the city more powerful with the rebuilding of the tiny castle overlooking the town. Lord Nelson and his entire fleet sheltered in the harbour in 1798, en route to Egypt to defeat Napoleon's armada at the Battle of Aboukir.
Marmaris therefore became a place where different civilisations reigned over time, and there is architectural and historical evidence of Egyptian, Asdur, Ion, Dor, Persian, Macedonian, Syrian, Roman, Byzantium, Seljuk and Ottoman presence.
Climate
Summers are extremely hot and dry, with daytime temperature reachs up to 35 degrees, and the winters are warm and wet, plunging to 5 degrees at night. The area is quite typical of a Mediterranean climate.
