Por eso no es casual que haya nacido en la ciudad el museo de arte efímero Puerto Street Art:
.- Uno de los más importantes del mundo por la calidad de sus artistas de primera línea.
.- Emplazado en el casco histórico de la ciudad, lo que une a la plasticidad de las obras el valor histórico y urbanístico-cultural de la zona.
.- Presenta murales con diferentes estilos, que abarcan diversas técnicas e incorporan temáticas de todo tipo.
.- Permite hacer el recorrido completo en un paseo de hora y media.
La visita a estos murales impresiona por la majestuosidad de sus volúmenes y por la habilidad de los artistas para plasmar sus obras en grandes paredes. Unas paredes que pertenecen a La Ranilla, una zona histórica de Puerto de la Cruz donde además de disfrutar del arte urbano podrás callejear y mezclarte con la vida bulliciosa de la ciudad, entre comercios y pequeños restaurantes.

Sebas Velasco y su ayudante Alain Theröck estuvieron en Puerto de la Cruz en octubre de 2016 (durante el Festival Periplo) y nos dejaron el magnífico mural Rebellion der Träumer.

Working on a unusually shaped facade in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife on Canary Islands, Sebas Velasco wanted to use this opportunity to create a wide angle urban night view. With a portrait as the central figure, the image includes typical Canarian architecture and local church on the left, along with big skyscraper, neon lights and award winning star shaped gas station designed in the '60 on the right.
The difference between this cityscape and the recent ones Velasco has been painting around eastern Europe, is that these skyscrapers are not residential buildings but hotels and tourist apartments. Following the tourist boom, many of the buildings were erected in the 50's, changing the natural environment and creating an unique setting as a monument to these changes and rapid urbanization.
The central portrait is depicting a young man, a dreamer, who placed within an plain cityscape has a wide open perspective. By composing the image in such way, the mural has a positive, optimistic feel to it, despite the dark and sterile images of night time city. Finally, the title Rebellion der Träumer (taken from the album name of german musical duo Kollektiv Turmstrasse), addresses the influence of foreign tourists on the development and traditions of Canary Islands.

I went to Tenerife in the Summer of 2019, mainly to do the hiking and go to the beach. I think Tenerife is good for digital nomads and there’s lots of good places to eat. This video is a combination of a street walking video and a random Vlog. I like to give an honest impression of what a place is like, and I do that by making street walking type videos. This might be useful to you if you’re looking for things to do in Tenerife, or if you’re a digital nomad looking for motivation.
