Willemstad, Curaçao - Drive over the Queen Juliana Bridge HD (2016)
Queen Juliana Bridge is a four lane road bridge across St. Anna Bay in Willemstad, the capital of Curaçao and formerly, the Netherlands Antilles. The bridge is named after Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. The original bridge collapsed in 1967 killing fifteen workers, and got replaced. The current bridge opened on Queen’s Day, April 30, 1974.
Reaching a height of 56.4 m (185 feet) above the water at its apex (to accommodate ships entering the narrow harbour), it weighs 3,400 tons.
The view from the apex includes the entire panorama of Punda, Otrobanda, and the Schottegat and is one of the highest vantage points on the island.

Xin Guang Hua passes Queen Juliana bridge (Curaçao) successfully
Damen Shiprepair Curaçao (DSCu) proudly informs that the heavy-lift ship Xin Guang Hua with the two docks on board has a safe passage through St. Anna Bay at 6.00 am today. This passage and passage under the Queen Juliana bridge towards the Schottegat went smoothly.
DSCu is extremely proud of the professionalism and precision work of Curaçao Port Authorities and KTK. In good cooperation they have safely moored the ship on the quays of the Isla. There the Xin Guang Hua is now anchored, in preparation for the float-off, in the morning of April 30, 2018.
When the docks are unloaded they will be towed to the final destination: Damen Shiprepair Curaçao.
DSCu thanks everyone for their contribution and presence during this historic moment.

The Queen Emma Bridge is a pontoon bridge across St. Anna Bay in Curaçao. It connects the Punda and Otrobanda quarters of the capital city, Willemstad. The bridge is hinged and opens regularly to enable the passage of oceangoing vessels.
On the opposite end from the hinge is a small shelter where an operator controls two diesel engines turning propellers.
Queen Emma Floating Pontoon Bridge in Willemstad, Curacao
The Queen Emma Floating Pontoon Bridge connects the Punda and Otrobanda districts of Willemstad, the capital of Curacao in the Netherlands Antilles in the southern Caribbean. Built in 1888 and named after Queen Emma (1890-1898), it is one of the oldest and longest floating bridges still in operation for non-military use. Also known as the Swinging Old Lady, the bridge swings open using two powerful ship motors, allowing ships to access the port and inner harbor. When the bridge is open to let ships from the harbor pass, pedestrians are transported free of charge by the ponchi, a small ferry. How it works - Queen Emma Bridge Curacao
The Queen Emma #PontoonBridgePunda rests atop of a set of pontoons. The final pontoon, connecting the bridge to the #Punda side, has a motor and a driver. And when a ship arrives, the entire bridge opens on a hinge, just like a door. For small ships, the bridge only needs to open a crack, but for larger vessels like oil tankers, it will swing all the way over to the Otrobanda side.
