Hiking Quiet Walkways (Great Smoky Mountains)
My husband and I decided to do a couple of short quiet walkways in the Great Smoky Mountains yesterday. We did see a graveyard and a small waterfall. Took a drive through Cades Cove in the pouring rain, but had a little fun at the Ice Cream shop in Townsend afterwards.
Be sure to check out the end of the video for some fun laughs! ;-)

Smokemont Campground July 2016
In 1976 my parents purchased a 17' travel trailer after being invited to go camping with several families from our church. The first campground we visited was Smokemont Campground in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and from that point we were hooked on camping. After growing up camping at Smokemont for all those years, it is still my favorite place to camp.
Smokemont campground is located five miles north of Cherokee on US 441, just inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Smokemont Campground is situated along side the Oconaluftee River. Smokemont offers group camping and 138 campsites for primitive camping with no water, power, or sewer hookups.
Smokemont Riding Stable is adjacent to the campground. They offer trail rides for ages five years and up and they welcome groups. They have a one hour, two and a half hour, and a four hour ride. Also available for any age are wagon rides. Call 828-497-2373 for rates and availability.
Things you should know:
All food, drinks, and equipment used to prepare and store food must be kept sealed in a vehicle or in a camping unit constructed of solid, non-pliable material or as otherwise directed at all times when not in use.
Only heat treated firewood which is in its original packaging and bears a certification from the USDA or a state agency may be brought into the park.
Campfires are permitted only in fire grates.
Pets are allowed in the campground but must be confined or on a six foot leash. Pets are not allowed on trails and should not be left unattended.
RV sewage must be drained at a dump station. Showers and utility hook ups are not available in the park.
Quiet hours are in effect from 10 PM to 6 AM and generator use is prohibited from 8 PM to 8 AM.
Generator use and battery charging by engine idling is prohibited in generator free areas. Generator use is prohibited in loops A, B, and C from May 15 through October 31.
Tents must be pitched on the tent pads where provided.
Bicycles are allowed and bicycle riders must comply with all traffic regulations including helmet laws and are restricted to public roads, parking areas and designated routes. The use of in-line skates, skateboards or scooters is prohibited.

The Best Road Cycling Aventures in Knoxville Tennesse | Meet VeloGuide Gary
First off all a I am truly fortunate for my family putting up with my love for cycling- my wife, Kelley of 23 years and my teenage son, A.J. They have nurtured my passion for this amazing sport. I'm a longtime cyclist in the East Tennessee area with 27 years of road and off-road experience. As well I'm one of the co-owners of an amazing local bicycle store called The Bike Zoo and quite simply, I love to ride bikes! All types of bicycles and rides are great as long as I'm outside having fun! One of the coolest things is getting to show someone around this great area in which I live whether it be on a trail, a road, or even a bike path. We are so fortunate to have amazingly fun and quiet back roads very near to town and we have also have a super fun and quite large network of mountain bike trails quite literally in town. In the surrounding area of course the options continue for both road and mountain and of course we are only around a 35 mile ride to the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Knoxville as a city has an unbelievable selection of dining opportunities, as well as many local craft breweries and fun hang out spots. Book with me
A Rainy Hike to Laurel Falls - Smoky Mountains National Park Tennessee
One of the shorter, easier hiking trails in the Smokies and close to all the touristy fun in Gatlinburg, pick a weekday to go if a quieter hike is what you prefer. It can get pretty crowded. No bears, birds or other critters spotted, but plenty of wildflowers in warm mid-May.

Smoky Mountain National Park Walkway
This is a recording made along the road through the Smoky Mountain National Park. The park is part of a so called protected Biosphere. Only around 350 protected Biospheres exist in the world. Certainly, the area is vitally important, but I question that it is protected with the amount of unregulated overuse and extreme noise pollution in the park. Few restrooms means that human waste can be found around nearly every parking lot and it is directly entering the creeks and waterways. Noise pollution is very high. Illegally loud motorcycles regularly cruise the roadways unchecked. So, someone tell me, where is the protection, and who really wants to hear loud Harley Davidson motorcycles in a protected environment? Needless to say I found the area very low in wildlife numbers.
Calm Down! Rural peace at Caney Fork River, Tennessee.
A quiet morning at the Caney Fork River in DeKalb County, Tennessee close to the Edgar Evins State Park and Center Hill Dam.
There is a nice campground in the area.
The state park has some nice picnic spots and there is also a campground and plenty of hiking trails.
You can also go canoeing from a location nearby:
Backpacking in the Smokey Mountains
Documenting a 38 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail starting at Nantahala Outdoor Center in North Carolina heading southbound to Albert Mountain fire tower.
I am new to backpacking so most of my narration is discussing my experiences with new equipment and weather. Also I have never produced a video like this before so I am learning to improve content and video production.

Spruce Flats Falls: An Early Spring Hike
Spruce Flats Falls is a multi-level cascade which drops a total of 125 feet. This beautiful waterfall is reached by a 1.9-mile moderate hike, one which becomes progressively narrow, rocky and steep along the way. Viewing the falls at the end of the trail is a worthy reward, and on this overcast spring day, we were delighted to see wildflowers in bloom or just ready to burst, including star chickweed, yellow trillium, hepatica, trailing arbutus, rue-anemone, bloodroot, toothwort, pennywort, stonecrop and violets of purple and yellow varieties. Listen to the quiet of the forest and the power of the waterfall in this short video. For information about waterfalls or wildflowers in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, get a copy of Waterfalls of the Smokies or Wildflowers of the Smokies, both available in park bookstores and at smokiesinformation.org (please be patient as our webstore is undergoing maintenance and will be back up as soon as possible.)

Solo Backpacking on Rough Fork Trail (Great Smoky Mountains)
I did a solo backpacking overnight trip in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on August 4 - 5, 2018. I hiked the trails of Rough Fork and Caldwell Fork and stayed at Campsite 41. Other than a brief period of rain it was a great weekend.
