Museum, Bazaar, Theater and Top Floor Bar in Tashkent - Uzbekistan 4K Travel Channel
After a short drive, we arrive at the Museum of applied arts in the Rakatboshi street. It is a beautiful old grand building with an inner courtyard. The impressive building belonged to the Russian diplomat Aleksandr Polovcev once. Precious mosaics adorn at the outer walls here.
Inside, you can discover the entire range of Uzbek craftsmanship. Clothes, headgear, carpets, porcelain, paintings, decorative objects, metal cans and carving in the form of furniture and doors show skills that are hard to find in the USA or Europe.
The women wear the jewelry during their lifetime because they could be rejected at any time and then would have had no more time to take this along.
Of course, Tashkent also has some bazaars, of which the Chorsu Bazaar is the biggest. Its huge dome is already visible from afar.
Inside, you find mainly perishable meat and cheese products. Presumably, the hall is cooled by air conditioning.
Besides that, there is an open fruit and vegetable hall.
The dealers offer candy, eggs, jam, honey and household goods in further smaller halls.
Also, fresh bread may not be missing. Since the next day is a holiday, the bakers have their hands full with work.
The market is well-sorted, structured and clearly arranged.
On the way to the Uzbekistan hotel, our driver drives a lap around the Navoi Theater. It was built in 1942 - 1947. As of 1945 substantially Japanese prisoners of war were involved in forced labor. In 1966 it received the status of Bolshoi Theater.
The theater is named after Alisher Navoiy, an Uzbek poet, and politician who lived in the court of the Timurids in the 15th century. He is celebrated as the greatest Turk-language poet of all time and significantly influenced the Chagatai language, a Turkic language.

Nach einer kurzen Fahrt treffen wir im Museum für angewandte Kunst in der Rakatboshi Straße ein. Es ist ein schönes altes herrschaftliches Gebäude mit einem Innenhof. Das beeindruckende Gebäude gehörte einst dem russischen Diplomaten Aleksandr Polovcev.
Bereits an den Außenwänden sind kostbare Mosaike angebracht.
Im Inneren wird die gesamte Palette der handwerklichen Kunst Usbekistans gezeigt. Kleidung, Kopfbedeckungen, Teppiche, Porzellan, Bilder, Dekorationsgegenstände, Metallkannen und Schnitzereien in Form von Möbeln und Türen zeigen Fertigkeiten, die in USA oder Europa kaum noch zu finden sind.
Der Schmuck wurde von den Besitzerinnen zu ihren Lebzeiten ständig getragen, da sie jederzeit verstoßen werden konnten und dann keine Zeit mehr gehabt hätten diesen mitzunehmen.
Natürlich verfügt auch Taschkent über einige Basare, von denen der Chorsu Basar der Größte ist. Seine riesige Kuppel ist bereits weithin sichtbar.
Im Inneren gibt es hauptsächlich leicht verderbliche Fleisch- und Käseprodukte. Vermutlich ist die Halle mittels Klimaanlage gekühlt.
Daneben gibt es eine offene Obst- und Gemüsehalle.
In weiteren kleineren Hallen bieten die Händler Süßigkeiten, Eier, Marmelade, Honig und Haushaltswaren an.
Auch frisches Brot darf nicht fehlen. Da am nächsten Tag Feiertag ist, haben die Bäcker alle Hände voll zu tun.
Der Markt ist gut sortiert, strukturiert und übersichtlich gestaltet.
Auf dem Weg zum Uzbekistan Hotel fährt unser Fahrer extra eine Runde um das Navoi Theater. Es wurde von 1942 – 1947 errichtet. Ab 1945 waren maßgeblich japanische Kriegsgefangenen unter Zwangsarbeit beteiligt. 1966 erhielt es den Status des Bolschoi Theaters.
Es ist benannt nach Alisher Navoiy, einem usbekischen Dichter und Politiker, der im 15 Jahrhundert am Hof der Timuriden lebte. Er wird als größter turksprachiger Dichter aller Zeiten gefeiert und prägte maßgeblich die tschagataische Sprache, eine Turksprache.

The main city of Uzbekistan is a huge metropolis with a population of over 3 million people. The city is lined with a grid of straight and wide streets and avenues, decorated with emerald green parks, gardens, fountains imbued with crystal strands...
This wonderful city is a real embodiment of the modern elegance that is inherent in many world capitals. At the same time it remains to be an oriental city. Tashkent has its own unique flavor. It combines medieval buildings as if descended from the pages of old oriental tales, elegant European architecture from the period of the Turkestan governor-generalship, standard concrete boxes of the Soviet era and, finally, glittering skyscrapers of glass and concrete (modern business centers and banks).

Not many know Uzbekistan is a country located in Central Asia, its new to the world of the tourism.
Originally I am Uzbek myself and I know that tourism just started to develop and now there are more and more tourists arriving for visit.
If you are visiting Uzbekistan for the first time, then my advice is to book everything through travel agency. Airport, transfers, tours with guides. Uzbekistan is not yet English friendly country and its a little bit complicated to travel on your own if you don't know Russian.
Not many places have English signs (very few). Not everyone speaks Russian.
To travel comfortably by cab download Yandex Taxi application, we do not have Uber.
If you still decided to visit Uzbekistan, especially Tashkent city (that's what video is about) on your own then this video with main city attractions is for you.
So far most popular tourist spots in Tashkent city are:
- City Center which starts with Amir Temur Square, Uzbekistan Hotel, Quranti, Broadway, Amir Temur Museum. All places are located near each other. And you can walk from one to another.
- Independence Square, Mourning Mother Monument, Eternal Fire
- Courage Monument
- Drujba Narodov or Friendship Square with Friendship Monument
- Old Town which has Khast Imam and Khazrati Imam complex, Kukeldash mosque
- Chorsu bazaar is one of the biggest bazaars in part of Old Town.

Arrival in Tashkent - Uzbekistan 4K Travel Channel
At 7 o'clock in the morning, we landed in Tashkent. We have started our journey in Bishkek at 5.45 hours. Uzbekistan is now the third country on our journey through Central Asia. After the adventurous journey through Tajikistan and the breathtaking nature of Kyrgyzstan, we would like to get to know the culture of the Silk Road.
Sirojiddin Hujamuratov from Registran Travel and the driver Shamil pick us up at the airport. We met Sirojiddin already in Berlin at the ITB in spring and he made us a very attractive offer, so we decided to travel to Uzbekistan as well.
At first, we go to the hotel to drop our luggage. We stay at the Hotel Arien Plaza. A comfortable hotel that offers everything you need.
On the last day of our stay in Uzbekistan, we stay here once again. We can only say that everything is very clean and the staff very friendly.
But first, we need money. We drive via Usman Nasir Street, Shota Rustaveli Street, and Shakhrisabz Street to the center of Tashkent. The Uzbekistan Hotel has a cash machine (ATM). Unfortunately, it is empty. Via Amir Temur Avenue we drive to the Radisson Blu Hotel, Tashkent. Here we find an ATM and can withdraw dollars. We still have no Uzbek so'm.
Sirojiddin informs us. At the time of our stay (September 2017), the official rate is around 4000 so'm for € 1.-. On the black market, you get about 7000 so'm, which of course is not allowed. Since the inflation rate is around 70%, it is not advisable to exchange a lot of money directly. So he suggests we always exchange $ 100 with him. As soon as the money is used up we change the next € 100.-. Every time we get a big bundle of bank notes. Later, we saw women in a restaurant carrying a bundle of about 5cm thick. This is normal here. You usually do not keep money in a purse but in a plastic bag.
After that's done, we drive back to the Uzbekistan Hotel, where we pick up our guide Nargiz, who accompanies us for the rest of the day. Various tours on this day will be shown in another two more videos.

Morgens um 7 Uhr landen wir in Taschkent. Wir sind um 5.45 Uhr in Bischkek gestartet.
Usbekistan ist nun das dritte Land, auf unserer Reise durch Zentralasien. Nach der abenteuerlichen Reise durch Tadschikistan und der atemberaubenden Natur von Kirgisistan möchten wir nun die Kultur der Seidenstraße kennenlernen.
Sirojiddin Hujamuratov von Registon Travel und der Fahrer Shamil holen uns vom Flughafen ab. Wir haben Sirojiddin im Frühjahr in Berlin auf der ITB getroffen und er hat uns ein sehr attraktives Angebot gemacht, so dass wir uns entschlossen haben, auch nach Usbekistan zu reisen.
Zunächst fahren wir ins Hotel um unser Gepäck abzustellen. Wir sind im Hotel Arien Plaza untergebracht. Ein komfortables Hotel, das alles bietet, was man benötigt.
Am letzten Tag unseres Aufenthalts in Usbekistan übernachten wir noch einmal hier. Es bereitete auch kein Problem um 3 Uhr morgens einen Kaffee zu bekommen, da wir einen sehr frühen Flug gebucht haben. Wir können nur bestätigen, dass alles sehr sauber ist und das Personal sehr freundlich.
Zunächst haben wir aber das Problem, dass wir Geld benötigen. Wir fahren über die Usman Nasir Street, die Shota Rustaveli Street und die Shakhrisabz Street ins Zentrum von Taschkent.
Im Uzbekistan Hotel gibt es einen Geldautomat (ATM). Leider ist er leer. Über die Amir Temur Avenue geht es weiter zum Radisson Blu Hotel, Taschkent. Hier werden wir fündig und können Dollar abheben. Damit haben wir noch immer keine usbekischen So`m.
Nun klärt uns Sirojiddin auf. Zum Zeitpunkt unseres Aufenthaltes ( September 2017 ) liegt der offizielle Kurs ungefähr bei 4000 So`m für € 1.-. Auf dem Schwarzmarkt erhält man ca. 7000 So'm, was natürlich nicht erlaubt ist. Da die Inflationsrate ungefähr bei 70% liegt, ist es nicht ratsam direkt sehr viel Geld umzutauschen. Also schlägt er uns vor, immer nur $ 100.- bei ihm einzuwechseln. Sobald das Geld aufgebraucht ist, wechseln wir die nächsten € 100.-. Jedes Mal bekommt man ein dickes Bündel an Scheinen. Wir haben später Frauen in einem Restaurant beobachtet, die ein ungefähr 5cm dickes Geldbündel bei sich hatten. Dies ist hier normal. Geld bewahrt man üblicherweise auch nicht in einer Geldbörse auf, sondern in einer Plastiktüte.
Als das erledigt ist, fahren wir wieder zurück zum Uzbekistan Hotel, wo wir unsere Fremdenführerin Nargiz abholen, die uns den Rest des Tages begleiten wird. Diverse Führungen an diesem Tag werden in zwei weiteren Videos gezeigt.

Here, we are going to visit Kosmonavtlar which is a space-programme-themed station of the Tashkent Metro on Oʻzbekiston Line which was opened on 8 December 1984 partly in honour of cosmonaut Vladimir Dzhanibekov. The architectural decoration of the station on the theme of space. The interior is decorated with blue ceramic medallions with images of Ulugbek, Icarus, Valentina Tereshkova, Yuri Gagarin, Vyacheslav Volkov and Vladimir Dzhanibekov. The ceiling resembles the Milky Way, which shone glass stars. Travel wall platform floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the length of the platform is gradually moving from azure to dark blue, recalling the atmosphere of the Earth. Uzbekistan is a Central Asian nation and former Soviet republic. Samarkand, a major city on the route, contains a landmark of Islamic architecture: the Registan, a plaza bordered by 3 ornate, mosaic-covered religious schools dating to the 15th and 17th centuries.
