Moscow's Railway Stations:
In Moscow there are nine railway stations which are named after the main destination they serve (or historically served). Most of the stations are terminal stations and Moscow is the end of the line. Only two stations are transit stations: Belorussky and Kursky. Long distance trains and suburban trains (elektrichki) leave from all the stations, with the exception of Savyolovsky Railway Station which only has suburban trains. From Moscow you can get to practically every city in Russia by train and even to cities in China, Belarus, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Switzerland, Ukraine, and some other countries in Europe and Asia. For more information about Russian trains in general, including information on buying tickets, see our special section on Russian trains.
GENERAL INFORMATION
All nine stations are located next to metro stations. Therefore if you need to go from one station to another, it is best to use the metro as it is cheaper and will avoid any traffic jams. However if you still prefer to take a taxi you can easily find them outside the station - all official taxis are yellow and have a meter. It is not recommended to use private taxis at stations as the price for foreigners will be especially high (usually double the standard rate).
THREE STATIONS SQUARE
Leningradsky, Yaroslavsky and Kazansky Railway Stations are all located together on Komsomolskaya Ploschad which is served by Komsomolskaya metro station. People often call this square Ploschad Tryok Vokzalov (Three Stations Square). You should always give yourself plenty of time to find your train as it can sometimes be difficult, and this is especially true if you are leaving from one of the three stations on Komsomolskaya Ploschad. You can usually get on your train 30 minutes before it is due to leave.
Yaroslavsky Railway Station - Ярославский вокзал:
Moscow's Yaroslavsky Railway Station is another of the three railway stations located on Komsomolskaya Ploschad. It is next to the Komsomolskaya metro station on the brown circle line and the red line. Out of all of Moscow's railway stations, Yaroslavsky Railway Station serves the most destinations. Tickets for trains arriving or leaving from Yaroslavsky Railway Station state the name of the station as 'МОСКВА ЯР' ('Moskva Yar'). Yaroslavsky Railway Station connects Moscow with northern Russia, the Urals, Siberia, the Far East and the capitals of China and Mongolia. Suburban trains from Yaroslavsky Railway Station head towards Aleksandrov.

Hidden in Siberia: 7 Facts about Krasnoyarsk Krai

More information about the video content bellow:
1. Krasnoyarsk Krai is a federal subject of Russia. Krasnoyarsk Krai is the largest krai in the Russian Federation, the second largest federal subject (after the neighboring Sakha Republic) and the third largest subnational governing body by area in the world, after Sakha and the Australian state of Western Australia. The krai covers an area of 2,339,700 square kilometers, which is nearly one quarter the size of the entire country of Canada (the next-largest country in the world after Russia), constituting roughly 13% of the Russian Federation's total area and containing a population of 2,828,187, or just under 2% of its population, per the 2010 Census.
2. According to archaeologists, the first people reached Siberia circa 40,000 BCE. Russian settlement of the area (mostly by Cossacks) began in the 17th century. After the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway the Russian colonization of the area strongly increased. During both the Tsarist and the Bolsheviks' times the territory of Krasnoyarsk Krai was used as a place of exile of political enemies. The first leaders of the Soviet state, Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin were exiled to what is now the krai in 1897–1900 and 1903, respectively. In Stalin's era numerous Gulag camps were located in the region. Over 95% of the cities, a majority of the industrial enterprises, and all of the agriculture are concentrated in the south of the krai.
3. Krasnoyarsk is a city and the administrative center of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, located on the Yenisei River. It is the third-largest city in Siberia after Novosibirsk and Omsk, with a population of 1,035,528 as of the 2010 Census.
4. The krai lies in the middle of Siberia, and occupies nearly half of the Siberian Federal District. The climate is strongly continental with large temperature variations during the year. For the central and southern regions where most of the krai's population lives, long winters and short, hot summers are characteristic. The territory of Krasnoyarsk Krai experiences conditions of three climate belts: Arctic, Subarctic, and moderate. In the north there are less than 40 days with temperature above 10 °C. The average temperature in January is −36 °C (−33 °F) in the north and −18 °C (0 °F) in the south.
5. On June 30, 1908, in the basin of the Podkamennaya Tunguska River, there occurred a powerful explosion most likely to have been caused by the air burst of a large meteoroid or comet fragment at an altitude of 5–10 kilometers (3–6 miles) above Earth's surface. The force of the explosion is estimated to be about 10–15 megatons. It flattened more than 2,000 square kilometers (500,000 acres) of pine forest and killed thousands of reindeer.
6. The most popular place of attraction for tourists visiting Krasnoyarsk is the huge national nature reserve Stolby (pillars), which covers an area of 470 square kilometers (180 sq mi) with numerous giant granite rocks formations up to 100 meters high, many of very extraordinary shapes. Stolby is also a major rock climbing location.
7. The Krasnoyarsk Dam is a 124-metre high concrete gravity dam located on the Yenisey River Beginning with the opening of the 10th turbine in April 1971, the powerhouse was the world's single largest power plant.

Russia/Trans Siberia Express (Moscow to Yekaterinburg - Екатеринбург) Part 17

The Trans-Siberian Railway:
The Trans-Siberian Railway (TSR, Russian: Транссиби́рская магистра́ль, tr. Transsibirskaya Magistral; IPA: is a network of railways connecting Moscow with the Russian Far East. With a length of 9,289 kilometres (5,772 miles), it is the longest railway line in the world. There are connecting branch lines into Mongolia, China and North Korea. It has connected Moscow with Vladivostok since 1916, and is still being expanded.
It was built between 1891 and 1916 under the supervision of Russian government ministers personally appointed by Tsar Alexander III and his son, the Tsarevich Nicholas (later Tsar Nicholas II). Even before it had been completed, it attracted travellers who wrote of their adventures.
The Trans-Siberian line remains the most important transport link within Russia; around 30% of Russian exports travel on the line. While it attracts many foreign tourists, it gets most of its use from domestic passengers.
Today the Trans-Siberian Railway carries about 200,000 containers per year to Europe. Russian Railways intends to at least double the volume of container traffic on the Trans-Siberian and is developing a fleet of specialised cars and increasing terminal capacity at the ports by a factor of 3 to 4. By 2010, the volume of traffic between Russia and China could reach 60 million tons (54 million tonnes), most of which will go by the Trans-Siberian.
With perfect coordination of the participating countries' railway authorities, a trainload of containers can be taken from Beijing to Hamburg, via the Trans-Mongolian and Trans-Siberian lines in as little as 15 days, but typical cargo transit times are usually significantly longer and typical cargo transit time from Japan to major destinations in European Russia was reported as around 25 days.
According to a 2009 report, the best travel times for cargo block trains from Russia's Pacific ports to the western border (of Russia, or perhaps of Belarus) were around 12 days, with trains making around 900 km (559 mi) per day, at a maximum operating speed of 80 km/h (50 mph). However, in early 2009, Russian Railways announced an ambitious Trans-Siberian in Seven Days programme; according to this plan, $11 billion will be invested over the next five years to make it possible for goods traffic to cover the same 9,000 km (5,592 mi) distance in just seven days. The plan will involve increasing the cargo trains' speed to 90 km/h (56 mph) in 2010–12, and, at least on some sections, to 100 km/h (62 mph) by 2015. At these speeds, goods trains will be able to cover 1,500 km (932 mi) per day.

Becoming a Russian Walrus in KAZAN | Trans-Siberian Railway
In this episode of our Russia travel vlog series riding the Trans Siberian Railway, we arrive in the Capital of Tartarstan, Kazan!
scuba
On this leg of our great trip across Russia, we stop at The Blue Lake, a freezing pit of freshwater. Here, we learn about the famous Russian Walrus, or морж. These legendary beasts are brave men (or women) who polar dip in freezing water. While there is no snow this time of year, this lake is fed from ground water deep in the earth, and is a constant 5C.
After unthawing, we explore Kazan, and try traditional Tartarstan cuisine. This includes Chak-Chak, a famous dessert (so famous that there is a museum... we went.)
We end the day at the Kazan Kremlin, a beautiful complex featuring one of the nicest mosques I've ever seen.

24 HOURS WITH REMOTE SIBERIAN TRIBE in Buryatia, Russia
We've finally made it to Siberia on the Trans-Siberian Railway!
Our first adventure was arriving in Ulan-Ude, near Lake Baikal, and driving hundreds of kilometres into the wilderness to meet a remote Siberian tribe in Buryatia, Russia.
Buryatia is one of Russia's most unique republics. It has a mongol heritage, and the people who live here are descendants of the Golden Horde. The landscape is called The Steppe, a vast sweeping grassland that covers central Asia. Tribes who live here have traditionally been nomadic, making small camps like the one we stay in. This is our documentary of 24 hours with this tribe.
This experience put us outside our comfort zones. We ate some interesting Russian food like raw sheep liver, rode horses, wrestled, and had the time of our lives. While this experience isn't for everyone, it's definitely for me. This was one of my favourite days on the Trans-Siberian Railway. The people we met in this small village made it especially memorable. You can tell by their faces, that they are kind and generous. We felt right at home in this remote part of Russia.
