ABOUT RAINBOW BRIDGE NATIONAL MONUMENT NEAR PAGE ARIZONA
The monument is a rainbow-shaped natural bridge of pink sandstone spanning a canyon above a creek that winds toward man-made Lake Powell in southern Utah, U.S., near the Utah-Arizona boundary. The monument is located in the Navajo Reservation, where it lies on the northwestern flank of Navajo Mountain; it is within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
The monument, established in 1910, occupies 160 acres (65 hectares). . It is 290 feet high (the Statue of Liberty could fit underneath) and 275 feet wide. The top is 42 feet thick and is probably the largest natural bridge in the world.
Embedded among canyons carved by streams, the monument is situated on a remote desert plateau and can be reached only on foot, by horseback, or by boat from Lake Powell. The peak of Navajo Mountain, which reaches an elevation of 10,388 feet (3,166 metres), is 5 miles (8 km) southeast. Plants, fed by water seeping from the canyon walls, grow in profusion nearby and include wild orchids and maidenhair ferns.
The bridge has long been a religious site for the region’s Native Americans. Its existence was not documented until 1909, when it was reached by explorers making the difficult overland journey to Navajo Mountain. Access to the area improved dramatically in the early 1970s after the Glen Canyon Dam had impounded the waters of the Colorado River to form Lake Powell.
That’s just a small part of the adventure and beauty you’ll find here!

Lake Powell & Rainbow Bridge Travel Guide
Travel video about destination Lake Powell & Rainbow Bridge in The USA.
Wahweap Marina on Lake Powell is the second largest artificial water reservoir in the United States and the starting point of numerous boat trips.Lake Powell was created due to the construction of the Glen Canyon Reservoir. Beyond the two hundred and sixteen metre high concrete dam a unique labyrinth of deep canyons whose beauty has been compared to that of the Grand Canyon, now lies underwater. However, it was not only the landscape and the environment that was affected by the construction of the damn: early Native Indian settlements were also lost. Most of the three thousand-kilometre shoreline of Lake Powell consists of rock walls that are in bright contrast to the deep blue water of the lake. More than ninety neighbouring canyons and smaller ravines have also been covered by the waters of the damn. For many years Rainbow Bridge was only known to the local Indians and for the Navajo the natural monument located above the waters of Bridge Creek is a sacred place. Due to its incredible height of ninety-four metres and its span of eighty-eight metres, the majestic arch resembles a petrified rainbow. At dusk the spectacular colours of the landscape are one of the most memorable experiences at Lake Powell until the water and surrounding scenery become covered by the dark of night.

Kyle and I got to explore Page, AZ thanks to Copper Sky in Maricopa! It was a whirlwind trip and we loved every part of it! Everyone in our group was super friendly and it was fun getting to know other people in our community.
We were lucky enough to see the Glen Canyon Dam Overlook (though it's not shown in the video because I was just totally in awe of this place and forgot lol) and Upper Antelope Canyon. We finally got to check that one off the bucket list!
This trip included a one night stay at Lake Powell Resort (with a beautiful Lake View room I might add) and a boat tour to Rainbow Bridge National Monument. Of course, Kyle and I also made time to see the famous Horseshoe Bend! (Another check off our bucket list!)
Enjoy seeing this part of AZ through my eyes of our trip.
