More about Rajinder Da Dhaba and its Chicken Curry:
Beginning as a small roadside dhaba 50 years ago, Rajinder Da Dhaba is now a legendary street food joint in Delhi. Its rags to riches story is well known and despite its popularity, its food quality hasn’t gone down.
Rajinder Da Dhaba is divided into 3 parts – Rajinder Xpress, a casual dining restaurant which has a little bit of seating but majorly people stand outside in the parking lot to enjoy the food. They specialize in tandoori dishes. Next to it is the main Rajinder Da Dhaba, which serves curry items like Chicken Curry and Butter Chicken with naans. The last outlet is called RDX, which is the only Rajinder space that serves alcohol.
Besides its famous Chicken Curry, it is also known for its Butter Chicken, Tangdi Kabab, Afghani Chicken, Mutton Tikka, Tawa Chicken Tikka, Kathi Rolls, and even its vegetarian dishes like Dal Makhani.

Sukhna Lake | Garden of Silence | Chandigarh VLOG | part-3 | Shikha Sehrawat
Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, India, is a reservoir at the foothills (Shivalik hills) of the Himalayas. This 3 km² rainfed lake was created in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe, a seasonal stream coming down from the Shivalik Hills. Originally the seasonal flow entered the lake directly causing heavy siltation. To check the inflow of silt, 25.42 km² of land was acquired in the catchment area and put under vegetation. In 1974, the Choe was diverted and made to bypass the lake completely, the lake being fed by three siltation pots, minimising the entry of silt into the lake itself.
Rajinder Da Dhaba - Legendary Delhi Street Food
Rajinder Da Dhaba is a legendary restaurant in Delhi, India. For more details about eating here click here
Rajinder Da Dhaba began as a small roadside street food stall serving North Indian food. But its popularity due to the outstanding food they served gained fame and eventually moved to occupy basically an entire stip mall at Safdarjung Enclave. Now, the small roadside dhaba restaurants has a couple of dining rooms and an entire parking lot where they serve hundreds of happy customers each evening. Though they mostly specialize in cooking grilled tandoori meats at Rajinder Da Dhaba, my friend who eats vegetarian assures that they cook some of the best vegetarian food in Delhi as well!
So one evening we headed to Rajinder Da Dhaba for dinner at about 7 pm and chose to initially sit in the nice dining room area where we could relax away from the major crowds. We ordered two vegetarian side dishes, the mixed vegetable aloo gobi and dal makhani. Both were excellent. The mixed vegetables were in a thick spice filled tomatoey sauce and it was extremely flavorful. The dal makhani, a dish made from mostly black lentils was also divine. The lentils were slow stewed until soft in a rich creamy sauce, which I'm sure contained plenty of ghee, and also the perfect amount of spice. Along with a stack of tandoori roti, both vegetarian side dishes were outstanding!
But on to one of the most amazing pieces of chicken I've ever had: Afghani chicken. First in the indoor section of Rajinder Da Dhaba we ordered the Afghani chicken and it was so incredibly good that after eating it indoors we then headed outside (where this video was made) to eat another plate of the same amazing chicken. Marinated in yogurt cream and lots of spices, the chicken was then roasted in the tandoor to make it outrageously juicy and flavorful. If you're in Delhi and looking for amazing North Indian barbecue and vegetarian food, you've got to eat at Rajinder Da Dhaba.
Oh, and in case you're wondering who the guy in the video was, it's the friend of mine who took us there!
How to get there: It's located in the Safdarjung Enclave strip mall. The closest Metro station is either AIIMS or Green Park, and from there you'll have to take an auto rickshaw which should cost 30 - 50 INR.
Word of Warning: The outdoor parking lot section is very male dominated, so it's not the best environment for females, my wife felt much more comfortable at the indoor section.

Green Meadows Park, Gurugram, India - Residents'Lifeline
An estimated 6,000 families in the C block of Sushant Lok 1, Gurgaon are fighting with their back to the wall to save Green Meadows Park, a 1.2 acre park, with 100 trees, including 20-plus year old peepuls, silver oaks and neems, children’s playground & jogging track. The park is surrounded by two dozen homes, ironically branded and sold by the coloniser as “Green Meadows” and highrise apartment complexes. The park has been used for years by children, senior citizens, yoga enthusiasts and fitness enthusiasts among all age groups. The colonizer, claiming that the land was meant for a “dispensary”, is set to hand over the park for commercial development as a multi-specialty hospital.
There is already a functioning “dispensary” 200 metres away and the surrounding area has at least six large multispecialty hospitals – each a stone’s throw away from the park. These are the Fortis, Max, Paras, Artemis, Uma Sanjeevani and Umkal hospitals.
Embattled residents are seeking enforcement of their right to clean air and neighbourhood greens.
The struggle to save the park began in earnest in 2004 when residents found that boards proclaiming “Site for Dispensary” had come up overnight in the area, developed and maintained as a park by the builder. In April 2005, residents were taken by surprise when JCB bulldozers came rolling into the park to uproot the fixtures and dig the land in the park. The excavators belonged to the coloniser and were accompanied by an entrepreneur-doctor who claimed that he had been sold the land for building a multi-specialty hospital.
The residents put up impromptu resistance, with women and children standing in front of the JCBs and daring them to roll over them. In the face of the spirited resistance put up by slogan-shouting residents, the marauders beat a hasty retreat.
In a bid to save the park, the residents had already taken the matter to court in 2004, marshalling fact and argument to make the case that the builder had sold them homes around a green lung. In fact, the coloniser had built and maintained a full-fledged park on the open space. The park was complete with children’s swings, slides, etc., lawns, trees, flower shrubs and water supply using underground pipes, with a full-time mali to maintain the place.
However, in court, the coloniser maintained that the open space was always earmarked for a dispensary and produced old layout plans in corroboration. Residents allege that the maps appeared to have been tampered with and belonged to dates closer to the sale of land. The original site maps could not be found. These should have been stored in safekeeping in the office of Town & Country Planning Department, Govt of Haryana, Chandigarh. But the concerned officials could not produce these when the aggrieved residents went looking for them.
The Court Commissioner, appointed in 2005, confirmed the existence of the green lung and acknowledged that it was a park complete with playground for small children.
It was also pointed out that the Supreme Court specifically prohibited change of land use in the case of public parks.
The case in the civil court in Gurgaon came to an end on January 29, 2018, when the court rejected the aggrieved residents’ plea on technical grounds. And in no time, the excavators and other earth moving equipment were back to destroy the park. This was on February 10, 2018. In a re-run of 2004, the residents raised a hue and cry and called the police. Once again, the coloniser’s bouncers withdrew.
The residents have now filed an appeal in the additional district judge’s court. The matter came up for hearing on February 17. The judge gave temporary relief to the residents and will hold the next hearing on February 23, 2018.
