Rapu - Rapu is made out of two major islands, to be specific, Batan and Rapu - Rapu. Before it turned into a district in 1901, it was a baRrio of Prieto Diaz, Sorsogon. The Visita (Chapel) here and the otherworldly and peaceful needs of the individuals were dealt with by the Parish Priest of Prieto Diaz. Records show that Rev. Fr. Santiago Nepomuceno was in control here in the early piece of 1891, at that point Rev. Fr. Juan Brusola dominated. It was during his term that the Parish of Sta. Florentina was established.
At some point after the year 1891, Rapu - Rapu and Batan Islands turned out to be a piece of the region of Bacon, Sorsogon for the most part because of their topographical area, closer to Bacon than to Prieto Diaz. In light of the developing populace in the two islands, Governor Arlington Betts, Civil Governor for the Province of Albay, made the municipality of Rapu - Rapu in 1901. A plebiscite was held. Majestic Guinanayan Island
Albay is a fascinating province of Bicol region with majestic hill shapes, beautiful beaches, luxuriant forests, wildlife, handicrafts etc. rich cultural heritage and bestowed with bounties of nature.
Located in the municipality of Rapu- Rapu, it comprises with three islands. Rapu-Rapu, Batan and Guinanayan Island. Guinanayan is in the mouth of Cagraray Pass, it sits next to Pacific Ocean.
How to get in there!
1. Embarcadero Port Legazpi City by private boat 2 to 3 hours travel time.
2. San Roque Port Tabaco City- Passengers Boat 1 1/2 to 2 hours travel time from 10 AM to 12 Noon only. ( daily trip )
3. Bacacay Port- Private boat 1 1/2 to 2 hours travel time
4. Misibis Port or Cawayan Port - Private Boat 15 to 20 minutes travel time.

Ang Mga Katutubong Kaalaman ng Rapu-Rapu is a video documentary produced through the Strengthening Resilience of Coastal and Small Island Communities towards Hydro-Meteorological Hazards and Climate Change Impacts (StResCom) Project. It narrates some of the most common local and indigenous knowledge or LINKs related to disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in the Municipality of Rapu-Rapu in the Province of Albay. These LINKs were identified and gathered from the locals themselves. The LINKs were also validated with the help of a larger number of people from the community and then by scientists who were invited to validate and assess the LINKs in terms of the scientific explanations, appropriateness and effectiveness.

'Glenda' makes landfall, ravages Albay island
Typhoon Glenda (international name Rammasun) made landfall twice over Albay on Tuesday afternoon, according to state weather bureau PAGASA. The tropical cyclone Glenda slammed into Rapu-Rapu Island in Albay Gulf before making a second landfall in Tabaco, Albay.
