Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas (Desde 1891)
El Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas situado en la isla de Gran Canaria es el club más antiguo de España, con más de cien años de historia, fundado en 1891 y diseñado por el prestigioso arquitecto inglés Mackenzie Ross.
Se encuentra a tan sólo 15 minutos de la ciudad y a 25 minutos del aeropuerto, a una altura de 400m, ubicado al borde de la caldera de Bandama, un cráter de desprendimiento de un antiguo volcán de 800 metros de diámetro y 200 de profundidad, testimonio del origen volcánico de la Isla, hace 14 millones de años, en un espacio natural protegido, que le atribuyen una situación privilegiada y con unas vistas inmejorables que junto a su diseño y cuidado reflejado en la calidad de sus greenes y en las estupendas condiciones de sus calles, y del campo en general, lo convierten en un lugar maravilloso para disfrutar de este deporte.
Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas
Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas located on the island of Gran Canaria is the oldest club in Spain, with over one hundred years of history, founded in 1891 and designed by the renowned Scottish architect Mackenzie Ross. Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas is located in the Bandama Natural Park, on the Atlantic island of Gran Canaria. This location is unusual and results from several geographical peculiarities, including its altitude above sea level, benign wind patterns and volcanic drainage. We place special emphasis on the fact that this 18 holes golf course, a European pioneer, is located in a place that is not normally associated with the practice of golf. This area of land evolved over thousands of years through successive volcanic eruptions into now dormant mountains and craters, which are juxtaposed with the club building, erected some decade ago. Keeping in mind the above circumstances, we refer to the three hundred and ninety one thousand m² of the club, located on a plateau of five hundred meter above sea level on the north east side of Gran Canaria Island. To ease the course conception, golfers should visualize the course through accumulated volcanic material subsequently tempered by erosion processes during the last nine millions years. The most recent volcanic deposits are from eruptions dating between six and three thousand years ago. A geo-morphological peculiarity that has created a unique location.
Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas possesses one of the most important collections of trophies in Europe. In fact seven of the trophies in their display cabinets are over 100 years old and are of extraordinary historical and sporting significance.
The crown jewel being the Palmer Cup (1894), as it is the oldest trophy in Spain in any sport and the second oldest in Europe. Therefore it is regarded by golfers to be a great honor to win this prestigious trophy and have your name inscribed alongside the many illustrious previous winners. The Robinson Cup was instituted in 1896 and with the Palmer Cup were the only official tournaments to be completed for in the 19th century. There are five more trophies with over one hundred years standing, these being the Kennedy, Erskine, Medrington, Pagan and Cragg Cups, Mr Pagan and Colonel Cragg were two prominent members who went on respectively to take up the presidency of the then called Las Palmas Golf Club. In 1919, twelve years after the institution of the Cragg Cup, a Mrs James Miller donated the Victory Cup for ladies. In 1935 the then president of the club, Carlos Mauricio Blandy donated his cup to be competed for in a scratch matchplay format. The winner of this trophy was then regarded as the absolute champion of Gran Canaria.

EL COLOR DE LA VIDA
La semilla de los MASSIEU sigue germinando por la geografía canaria y floreciendo en todos los lugares donde se sitúa su asentamiento; ALICIA MORILLA MASSIEU y su hijo TOMÁS MORILLA MASSIEU, herederos de este antecedente artístico, que ha marcado la infancia de estos autores, con antecedentes familiares como Manuel Ponce de León, Nicolás Massieu Falcón, Nicolás Massieu y Matos y Lola Massieu, ALICIA y TOMÁS son descendientes directos de tan ilustres pintores, premiados ambos en Italia por su pintura impresionista, por su poesía y por su fotografía que han influido de forma notable, bajo los recuerdos de aquella infancia donde veían a sus antecesores dedicar largas horas a la creación de obras de arte, que han sido reconocidas en el mundo entero. A la Saga Artística y Familiar, se une la escritora Carolina Quevedo Morilla, hija de Alicia Morilla Massieu y hermana de Tomás Morilla Massieu, irrumpiendo con fuerza a través de lo que escribe, donde su corazón habla... de sentimientos, amores, desamores, pensamientos... del ser humano, donde la belleza, la hermosura anida en cada escrito.
ALICIA MORILLA MASSIEU y TOMÁS MORILLA MASSIEU, madre e hijo nacen bajo el signo del arte en toda su faceta, como poetas han publicado más de cincuenta obras con notables éxitos y reconocimientos a nivel internacional, transmitiendo a través del mensaje poético los más puros y bellos mensajes de amor.
Ambos han querido transmitir sentimientos y sensaciones, mensajes que en sus obras literarias han sido captados por aquellos que han estado abiertos al lenguaje de los sentimientos, la nobleza y del amor.
ALICIA Y TOMÁS madre e hijo, con esa timidez que les caracteriza sin ánimo de protagonismo, pero con ferviente deseo de transmitir paz, lo logran a través de la pintura, pues los paisajes, el colorido y la pincelada que les caracteriza, es capaz de emocionar y transportar a quien la contempla, a los propios lugares a los que los autores han plasmado.
El estilo impresionista de sus obras, nos recuerda a los grandes maestros del Romanticismo, que siguieron las escuelas de Pont-Aven o Provenzal. Sus paisajes, son siempre elementos que dan fuerza a sus cuadros, donde los valles en las faldas de las montañas, mar en calma, océano bravío o palmeras que mecen el elixir del relax, son sueños que se suceden en la Creación, dando una perspectiva diferente, que sobrecoge con emoción y sentimiento a quien los contempla.
