Reiman Gardens at Iowa State University
Reiman Gardens in Ames is part of Iowa State's mission to educate students in horticulture. In addition to extensive garden areas, the popular butterfly wing displays as many as 800 live butterflies at a time. And this year's theme connects outer space, aliens and science fiction with horticulture.

Reiman Garden, Iowa State University - A walk through
Reiman Gardens is a Iowa State University-owned public garden. It is located just south of Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa. It has a wide range of plants and flower, the worlds largest cement Gnome, and a butterfly garden. While competing at the 2019 USATF Master Outdoor Championships, I took a break to walk the grounds.

Reiman Gardens is a public garden located on the lovely Iowa State University campus in Ames, Iowa. We have many opportunities for folks to get involved with the gardens by volunteering. From helping with horticulture needs such as planting and transplanting to volunteering as a tour guide or in our beautiful butterfly wing; there's plenty for all to do! All training for volunteer positions will be offered through Reiman Gardens on site.

Reiman Gardens' Prisma in action
It took 15 weeks, 460 structural bolts, 2,700 feet of cable and 1,413 decorative spinning iridescent panels, but together, 77 students taking Iowa State University’s Architecture 202 course over the last semester created “Prisma,” a 70-foot-long wooden structure complete with hammocks for relaxing and climbing, now at home in the northeast corner of Reiman Gardens.
Constructing the Reiman Gardens Holiday Train
Every year Reiman Gardens in Ames builds and displays a garden-size Holiday Express Train. Created by Applied Imagination, the display features replicas of buildings related to Iowa State University history. All the structures are constructed using natural materials.
This is a time-lapse video of the five-day construction of the Reiman Gardens Holiday Train, which is on display from Nov. 17 to Jan. 6. There is no video jerkiness or pixilation in my final copy despite how it might appear here.
