Joe Shebl, winemaker at Renwood, manages 60 to 80 winegrape growing partners whose fruit is vinified for more than 60,000 cases a year spread out over 20 to 30 labels in the brand. Additionally, a large number of French and U.S. tonnelleries provide many new barrels of different designs, forests, toasts, and oak varieties. A frenetic testing of wines and barrels determines which wines, in which shares, go into a particular label in a vintage. Joe is always exhilarated by the experience.
