Mustang Gal - California Range Riders/WSSA - Cowboy Mounted Shooting - a Video by Paul Ennis
***
On Saturday, August 20, 2011, the California Range Riders/WSSA held the Open Range VIII Cowboy Mounted Shooting Competition at the John Hogan Horseman's Arena in Novato, CA.
Paul and Diane Ennis were there to film some of the action including these three runs by their good friend - Mustang Gal and her horse Apache.
Cowboy mounted shooting is an exciting equestrian sport in which competitors wearing two single action .45 caliber revolvers, race against the clock through a gymkhana-type course while firing at balloon targets. This sport requires the ability to control the horse through many turns and speed changes while cocking and firing the revolvers, holstering one when it's empty, and then drawing the other to complete the course of fire.
You can learn more about the CRR's activities through their website here:
or via their Facebook page here:
Paul and Diane Ennis are photographer/videographers from Sebastopol, CA
