Some more about Madrid:
Madrid Madrid's Prado museum is one of the top art galleries in the world, and the premier international showplace for Spanish art.
Conceived by Charles III as a center for the study of natural sciences, the neoclassical building was completed in 1785 by Juan de Villanueva. It was restored by Fernando VII and opened as a museum in 1819 after suffering damage at the hands of Napoleon's troops.
Like an 18th-century multiplex, the Prado is big and cannot be enjoyed on a single visit. New rooms have opened recently, and there's more expansion on the way. This picture palace houses about 7,000 paintings, of which an estimated 1,500 are on display at any one time. Museum highlights abound, but several of the paintings are must-sees.
Although he didn't hail from Madrid, the city has claimed Goya as one of its own, and he is represented in the Prado in a variety of moods. His great antiwar combination The 2nd and 3rd of May 1808 stands out, as do his enigmatic, Giaconda-like Maja Vestida and Maja Desnuda. His darker-themed paintings, such as Saturn Devouring his Son, are grotesque, disturbing masterpieces. The same could be said of Hieronymous Bosch's complex, surreal religious allegory The Garden of Earthly Delights. The Prado has a surprisingly large Bosch holding
In a more sober vein is Velazquez's masterpiece, Las Meninas, whose dizzying games with perspective make it one of the most technically accomplished paintings in history.
Trivia addicts might be interested to know that in 1996, an amateur nailed one of his own paintings to the wall alongside the greats, and no one noticed for two days. And, in 1922, Tony Leblanc, the '60s and '70s Spanish thesp who made a comeback in Santiago Segura's 1998 feature Torrente, el brazo tonto de la ley, was born inside the museum. At that time, Leblanc's mother was a housekeeper at the Prado.
The Prado forms part of a triangle of art galleries, all within walking distance, which includes the Reina Sofia, dedicated to modern art and home to Picasso's antiwar masterpiece Guernica, and the smaller but well-designed Thyssen Museum, opened in 1992.
Madrid is a city with a permanent hangover. If you begin business over dinner, you're likely to finish it at a bar or club over a cubata (coke and eight double whiskies, all in one shot).
Some tips: Write down your hotel address before clubbing; if a drink costs more than $12, you're not just paying for the drink; it is perfectly respectable to go up to people you don't know. Madrid is fast, young, if not particularly modern. But at least for Southern Europe, it's a step forward. The city's hot spots include:
Plaza de Colon, palacia real, Gran Via, Museo del Prado, Círculo de Bellas Artes, Basílica de San Francisco el Grande,Madrid Zoo, Madrid Arena, Casa de Campo, El Retiro, Paseo de la Castellana, Plaza Mayor, Puerta de Alcalá, Catedral de la Almudena, el rastro, san gines, El Oso y el Madroño

DIGICON TV presents MOVIE NIGHT: NIOFAR
NIOFAR tells the story of a French girl who went to settle in Senegal and meet its inhabitants. In Wolof, Niofiar means to be together.
This personal film is a metaphor of the amazing and unique experience lived by Hugo’s brother. He lived for one year at Grand Mbao, a small village of Senegal. There, he shared the day to day life of the villagers, and settled completely. learning the local language, giving himself and investing himself totally to them. Over there we called him the « Sénégaulois a mix between the words Senegal and the Gauls.
Thanks to Colin, the rushes taken in Grand Mbao have a powerful strength of truth has they have been taken from the closest point you can get of the community. The characters are not disturbed by a foreign presence et forget the camera. The portraits the film depicts are fixed in authentic moments of life.

10 Athletes Who Pooped Their Pants During Competition
Try out ThePremium Network for free:
The human stomach is known to do some weird things. While we learn at a young age how to hold yourselves and wait to go to the bathroom, sometimes things get a little out of control. This is especially true in the world of sports. When competing in professional sports, athletes put their bodies through grueling workouts and tests of endurance. Unfortunately for some, this can lead to major blow-outs and we’re not talking about the scores.
Multiple NFL players have had the unfortunate case of pooping while out on the field. One player did it during his first NFL game while another did it while playing center underneath the quarterback. There have been numerous wrestlers that have crapped themselves while competing in the ring. The massive former WWE champion Yokozuna is one of them. Yokozuna crapped himself while actually hovering his butt over the face of Bret Hart. One of WWE’s most popular stars, John Cena, has also dealt with some potty problems. Dealing with a bout of food poisoning, Cena once puked and pooped at the same exact time. Another wrestling and poop situation occurred at the main event of WrestleMania 13. The Undertaker was taking on Sycho Sid when apparently Sid crapped his pants. Not only that, but he lost the match. The WWE isn’t the only combat organization where these incidents have occurred. Multiple UFC fighters like Tim Sylvia have had accidents in the middle of a match. There was no mistaking the incident. Other athletes include soccer players, marathon runners, and cheerleaders.

Delaware Arts Summit 2013 - Richard Blanco - America
Keynote speaker Richard Blanco recites his poem, America. Blanco was made in Cuba, assembled in Spain, and imported to the United States—meaning his mother, seven months pregnant, and the rest of the family arrived as exiles from Cuba to Madrid where he was born. Only forty-five days later, the family emigrated once more and settled in New York City, then eventually in Miami where he was raised and educated.
In January 2013, Blanco was selected by President Obama to be the inaugural poet, joining the ranks of Robert Frost and Maya Angelou. President Obama said in a statement, It is an honor to have Richard Blanco in our second inauguration. His contributions to the fields of poetry and art have paved the way for future generations of writers. Richard's work is well-suited for an opening that will celebrate the strength and diversity of our great country.
Blanco has three acclaimed books of poetry, and his poems have appeared in top literary journals including, The Nation, the New Republic, Ploughshares, Michigan Quarterly Review, and TriQuarterly Review. He has been featured on National Public Radio's All Things Considered. Blanco is recipient of two Florida Artist Fellowships, a Residency Fellowship from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and is a John Ciardi Fellow of the Bread Loaf Writers Conference.
A builder of cities as well as poems, he holds a bachelors of science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master in Fine Arts in Creative Writing.

18 most beautiful Christmas trees in the world
List about 18 most beautiful Christmas trees in the world
'Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, your leaves are so immutable ...' Or at least they are if you opt for a fake tree. A real tree tends to sit in the corner of the room, slowly turning brown and throwing pine needles all over the floor as the family discusses who has to drag it outside. The tradition of the Christmas tree is long and rich, and has given rise to some modern trees that span the gamut of breathtaking beauty, encapsulating everything that Christmas represents, simply strange. Let's take a tour of the world to enjoy the Christmas trees that are truly trees-mendous (sorry for the play on words). 18 Most Beautiful Christmas Trees Around The World
In this list about 18 most beautiful Christmas trees in the world you can find:
17. Dortmund Christmas Market, Dortmund, Germany
16. Rio de Janeiro Brazil
15. Galeries Lafayette, Paris, France
14. National Christmas Tree, Washington DC, United States
13. Lego Christmas Tree, London, United Kingdom
12. Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
11. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, United States
10. Brandenburg Gate, Berlin, Germany
9. Trafalgar Square, London, United Kingdom
8. Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
7. Puerta del Sol, Madrid, Spain
6. Siam Square, Bangkok, Thailanda
5. Federation Square, Melbourne, Australia
4. Comercio Square, Lisbon, Portugal
3. Mount Ingino, Gubbio, Italy
2. St. Peter's Square, Vatican City
1. Floating Christmas Tree, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
18. Murano Christmas Tree, Venice, Italy
Murano glassware has been appreciated for centuries, and the Venetian island has been home to fine glass since 1291. So, of course, why not make it all a Christmas tree? The final result is surprising, but maybe a little too strange to be truly festive.
17. Dortmund Christmas Market, Dortmund, Germany
We have saved the best and the best for the end. This tree uses an idea similar to the Lego tree mentioned above, and is made up of several smaller parts. This huge 'tree' is made of 1700 smaller pines, which extend about 45 meters into the winter sky.
16. Rio de Janeiro Brazil
The floating 85-meter-high Christmas tree in the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was surrounded by fireworks during its inauguration on November 29, 2014. But even without the fireworks, it is a striking one.
15. Galeries Lafayette, Paris, France
It would seem that the French prefer their Christmas trees to be more traditional, like the four-story monster located inside the luxurious Galeries Lafayette Department Store each year, which you can see above. However, in 2014, the American artist Paul McCarthy was responsible for the massive inflatable installation of 'Christmas trees' in the center of Paris, which was criticized for its great resemblance to a sex toy, and then was destroyed by vandals.
14. National Christmas Tree, Washington DC, United States
The President of the United States has many stressful duties to perform, so the official lighting of the National Christmas Tree is probably a welcome relief. Every president of Franklin D. Roosevelt has officiated at the lighting ceremony.
13. Lego Christmas Tree, London, United Kingdom
Perhaps the latest in plastic Christmas trees, this gigantic Lego construction was placed at London's St Pancras International Station, where the Eurostar departs for Paris. You may complain about having to remove your Christmas tree and package the decorations, but pity the poor people who had to dismantle this thing.
12. Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
If you lose a Christmas ornament, it's no big deal. If you lose any decoration of the tree of the Emirate Palace Hotel, whoever is responsible could face the time in jail. It is decorated with more than $ 11 million in jewelry and precious stones.
11. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, United States
Perhaps the most environmentally friendly Christmas tree is one that...

A beach is a repository of sediments unconsolidated ranging from sand and gravel, excluding the mud as it is not an alluvial plain or coast mangrove, which extends from the base of the dune or the limit where the vegetation ends to a depth where sediments no longer move. This depth varies between beach and beach depending on bathymetry, geomorphology and waves.
The Barceloneta beach is the oldest and most famous beaches of the city of Barcelona ( Spain or Catalonia ). It was renovated just before the 1992 Olympics. It is located in the district of La Barceloneta ( Ciutat Vella ). Along with the beach of San Sebastián and Playa de la Victoria, it is one of the longest with a length of 1,100 meters. The Battle for Madrid, 1936 (filmed/animated on location)
This Spanish Civil War mini history documentary was filmed & animated in Madrid. The Spanish Civil War is fascinatingly complex. That’s why I’ve decided to explain the Battle/Siege of Madrid between 1936 & 1939 using animation and original footage I shot in Madrid. To understand the two sides during the Spanish Civil War (the Nationalists and the Republicans), it helps to reduce the conflict down to the city level. I hope having it explained this way is helpful for you! Feedback welcome as always.

Souvenirs that reimagine the world around us | Jorge Mañes | TEDxMadrid
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. From a supermarket parking lot in London to abandoned cities in China, Rubio’s work takes us on a journey where nothing is what it seems to be. Through an exhaustive research and the subsequent reinterpretation of these locations, the artist suggests that any place can be of great value when seen from a different perspective. Through his souvenirs, photographs and interventions, Rubio carefully weaves his very own narrative. He deliberately mixes fictional elements together with reality, using this unconventional attitude as a vehicle to convey the social message that lays behind his artworks in a most effective way.
Jorge Mañes Rubio is the founder and director of Seethisway, a research-oriented studio interested in alternative and experimental production processes, but inspired by everyday experiences. He graduated from Royal College of Art London in 2010, where he confirmed his tireless eager to travel beyond the usual scopes of design. In 2014 he became a TED fellow. His work explores unseen or forgotten places, creating artworks that reimagine and revive these sites as attention-worthy destinations. His practice revolves around political-social interventions, creating small objects, fictional narratives and immersive installations. During his exhibitions and lectures, Rubio invites the audience to experience these stories as if they were their own. His recent work includes traveling along the Yangtze River looking for the remains of the cities flooded by the Three Gorges Dam Project, or recreating the story of a little-known Pacific island paradise destroyed by mining... When he’s not illegally producing unique souvenirs at the top of the Eiffel Tower, he’s creating a fictional micro-nation for a troubled multicultural neighbourhood in Amsterdam.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
