Rishabhadeo is situated 65 kilometres (40 mi) from Udaipur and is on Udaipur-Ahmedabad Road. The name of the town is also Dhulev, however it is better known as Rishabhadeo. It is a well-known pilgrim site for the temple Kesariyaji Tirth (a. k. a. the Main Temple).Local Bhils also worship the deity. Lord Rishabhadeo is also Kesariaji because a large offering of saffron (keshar, a common ingredient) is made to the deity.
This temple was considered to be one of the four main religious institutions of Mewar, ruled by the Sisodia Maharanas of Udaipur, as stated by Chatur Singhji Bavji:

On the second day of the trip, Delhi Brothers visited Fateh Sagar lake and kesariya mandir.
Fateh Sagar lake: It is one of the four lakes of the Udaipur city; the other three being: the Lake Pichola (within the Udaipur town), Udai Sagar Lake, 13 kilometers (8.1 mi) to the east of Udaipur, and Dhebar Lake or Jaisamand Lake, 52 km (32 mi) south-east of Udaipur.

History of this shrine commences with Shri Aadeeshwar Bhagwan. The area was a suburb of Ayodhya, capital city of Koshal Janapad (one of the 52 Janapada into which Bharat was divided). In olden times, the area was known as Purimtal and Prayag. In ancient books, the area has been referred to as Purimtal Pada.
The first Tirthankar of Jains Shree Aadeeshwar Bhagwan, practicing intense meditation here under banyan tree in the garden known as Shaktamukh had attained Keval Gyan on Phalgun Krishna Paksh 11 during the rule of Uttarashadha constellation. The banayan tree under which Bhagwan attained Keval Gyan was called thereafter the ever growing eternal banayan tree and since that time the city came to be known as Prayag.
Several Tirthankars after Bhagwan Aadeeshwar have visited this place. Even 24th Tirthankar Bhagwan Mahaveer had practiced meditation in the Shakatmukh garden here when the ruling king was Raja Mahabal. His Samosaran also was erected here.
In “Vividh Tirthkalpa” composed byAcharya Shree Jinaprabhasurishvarji in 14th Century, it is stated that here there was also a temple of Sri Sheetalnath Bhagwan. This place may have been named “Allahabad” during the period of King Akbar.
In the fort near the confluence of three rivers - the Ganga, the Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati there is a banayan tree and it is believed that this is the same ever growing banayan tree under which Bhagwan Adeeshwar attained Keval Gyan.
This place has the unique honour of being one where the first Keval Gyan was attained in the cycle of time. Gods led by their chief Indra erected the first Samosaran here. Mata Marudevi attained Moksha on this land and by doing so she opened the door for the first time for Moksha in this period of time called “Avasarpini”.
Aadeeshwar Bhagwan gave his first discourse here, he organized the four-faceted community here and the first ever conferment of discipleship took place here. The composition of twelve Angas and the formulation of the religion of Jainism vows, observances, reflections etc., first began in this holy land. In this way, as the Teerth was established here, the Guardian God “Gomukh” and Goddess Pratichakra who always lived near Tirthankar became “Adhishtayak” (Establisher) and “Shashandevi” (Ruling Goddess) respectively of Jain order. The Goddess is also known by the name of Mata Chakreshwari Devi.
