A 17 km stretch from Shivpuri to Lakshman Jhula in Rishikesh, India takes you through 9 rapids which range from grade 1 to grade 4. An awesome combination of chilled water at 5 degrees, beautiful white sand river beaches, a jaw dropping lineup of Kumaon mountains and the feeling of dipping in the holy waters of Ganga!
River Rafting Rishikesh | Thrilling adventure 16 km Rafting
White water rafting in Rishikesh is an amazing experience for people of all age groups. There are 4 starting points for rafting.
You may want to support this channel:
Brahmpuri - 9 kms with 3 rapids - 2 hours to complete
Shivpuri - 16 kms with 9 rapids - 3 hours to complete
Marine drive- 26 km with 13 rapids - 4 hours to complete
Kodiyala - 32 kms with 16 rapids. - 5 hours to complete
You may travel single and share rafting with others or if you are a group of 8 then you may book your own raft.
Tips on Rafting at Rishikesh, basis my experience:
Wear shorts and T shirt- avoid jeans.
Keep your purse and mobile in hotel.
Raft has a plastic bag with zip that prevents water from getting in.
Have food before you start rafting.
Ideal time to start rafting is 11 am or 12 noon.
Follow the instructions of Guide to prevent any accident, Jackets
prevent fatal accident but i fell into Double trouble rapid and despite knowing swimming i had a tough time.
Rafting closes from end june to July as water pressure is high.
You can ask you rafting service provider to help you with Go pro camera clips, for which he will charge extra but with that it will be a memory.
Best time to go for rafting is between March to June.
Modes of travel:
Railhead: Rishikesh, but i will suggest you travel through Haridwar.
Nearest airport: Jollygrant.
Distance between Rishikesh and Haridwar is 25 kms.
Book for rafting in advance if you are travelling during week ends, otherwise you may have to face disappointment.

This video shows the adventures we did on the day 1 of our 4 Day trip to Uttarakhand state of India. After waking up in a train at Haridwar Train station, we took a bus to Rishikesh as we planned to do famous Rishikesh River Rafting there. It took approx. 45 mins to reach Rishikesh but due to bright sunlight, we decided to do Shivpuri river rafting(16Km) during the sunset time. And then you know what happened.....we enjoyed so much :)
