Maria Luisa Park is a public park that stretches along the Guadalquivir River in Seville, Spain. Most of the grounds being used for Maria Luisa Park were previously the gardens of the Palace of San Telmo and were donated to the City of Seville in 1893. There is a half mile of tiled fountains, pavilions, ponds, benches, artistic walls and monuments. There are palms and orange trees as well as Mediterranean pines and beautiful flower beds with an amazing number of birds. The music we used for our video was La Gitana De Seville by Armik.

Sevilla [seˈβiʎa] ist die Hauptstadt der Autonomen Region Andalusien und der Provinz Sevilla von Spanien. Mit über 700.000 Einwohnern ist Sevilla viertgrößte Stadt Spaniens. Nach einer späten Legende wurde die Stadt von dem griechischen Helden Herakles gegründet. Die Einwohner werden als Sevillanos bezeichnet.
Die Stadt ist ein wichtiger Industrie- und Handelsplatz und Touristenzentrum. Sevilla liegt zu beiden Seiten des bis hierhin auch für Seeschiffe befahrbaren Guadalquivir, in einer weiten und fruchtbaren Ebene. Mit ihren zahlreichen Türmen bietet Sevilla von allen Seiten einen imposanten Anblick. Die eigentliche Stadt nimmt das östliche Ufer des Guadalquivir ein und ist von den Vorstädten Los Humeros, Cesteria, Baratillo, Carreteria, Resolana mit dem großen Hospital La Caridad, San Bernardo, San Roque y la Calzada und Macarena mit dem Hospital de la Sangre umgeben. Von der alten, mit 66 Türmen versehenen Ringmauer, welche die innere Stadt umgab, sind nur noch Reste vorhanden. Am rechten Ufer des Flusses breitet sich die große Vorstadt Triana aus.

The Torre del Oro (English: Tower of Gold) is a dodecagonal military watchtower in Seville, southern Spain. It was erected by the Almohad Caliphate in order to control access to Seville via the Guadalquivir river.Constructed in the first third of the 13th century, the tower served as a prison during the Middle Ages. The Tower of Gold was built 1220–1221, by order of the Almohad governor of Seville, Abu l-Ulà, with a twelve-sided base. It barred the way to the Arenal district with a section of wall joining it to the Tower of Silver, a part of the city walls that defended the Alcazar. Its name comes from the golden shine it projected on the river, due to its building materials.The tower is divided into three levels, the first level, dodecagonal, was built in 1220 by order of the Almohad governor of Seville, Abù l-Ulà; As for the second level, of only 8 meters, also dodecagonal, was built by Peter of Castile in the fourteenth century, a hypothesis that has been confirmed by archaeological studies; The third and uppermost being circular in shape was added after the previous third level, Almohad, was damaged by the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. Rebuilding of the third level was made by Brusselian military engineer Sebastian Van der Borcht in 1760.
The Torre de la Plata, an octagonal tower, is located nearby, and is believed to have been constructed during the same era.
Military function: It is one of two anchor points for a large chain that would have been able to block the river. The other anchor-point has since been demolished or disappeared, possibly collapsing during the 1755 Lisbon earthquake. The chain was used in the city's defense against the Castilian fleet under Ramón de Bonifaz in the 1248 Reconquista. Bonifaz broke the river defenses and isolated Seville from Triana.

The Guadalquivir (Spanish pronunciation: [ɡwaðalkiˈβir]) is the fifth longest river in the Iberian peninsula and the second longest river with its entire length in Spain. The Guadalquivir is 657 kilometers long and drains an area of about 58,000 square kilometers. It begins at Cañada de las Fuentes (village of Quesada) in the Cazorla mountain range (Jaén), passes through Córdoba and Seville and ends at the fishing village of Bonanza, in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, flowing into the Gulf of Cádiz, in the Atlantic Ocean. The marshy lowlands at the river's end are known as Las Marismas. It borders Doñana National Park reserve.

The botanical garden boasts exotic trees and numerous plants as well as a variety of bird species. There are also ponds, fountains, many monuments and historic buildings in the park. Some of the sites were constructed for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929 and then were used as the offices. Take your time to enjoy the atmosphere of the park and take a nice long walk. You will love it!

The Seville harbour, located about 80 kilometres (50 miles) from the Atlantic Ocean, is the only river port in Spain. Seville is also the hottest major metropolitan area in the geographical Southwestern Europe, with summer average high temperatures of above 35 °C (95 °F).
Seville was founded as the Roman city of Hispalis. It became known as Ishbiliyya after the Muslim conquest in 712. During the Muslim rule in Spain, Seville came under the jurisdiction of the Caliphate of Córdoba before becoming the independent Taifa of Seville; later it was ruled by the Muslim Almoravids and the Almohadsuntil finally being incorporated into the Christian Kingdom of Castile under Ferdinand III in 1248.[3] After the discovery of the Americas, Seville became one of the economic centres of the Spanish Empire as its port monopolised the trans-oceanic trade and the Casa de Contratación (House of Trade) wielded its power, opening a Golden Age of arts and literature. In 1519, Ferdinand Magellan departed from Seville for the first circumnavigation of the Earth. Coinciding with the Baroque period of European history, the 17th century in Seville represented the most brilliant flowering of the city's culture; then began a gradual economic and demographic decline as silting in the Guadalquivir forced the trade monopoly to relocate to the nearby port of Cádiz.
The 20th century in Seville saw the tribulations of the Spanish Civil War, decisive cultural milestones such as the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929 and Expo '92, and the city's election as the capital of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.

If you are going to Spain, I highly recommend that you go to Seville. I consider one of my favorite cities in Spain, it is absolutely beautiful. There is a lot to see, great gastronomy, interesting history and cultural heritages and friendly people.

Seville has a rich Moorish heritage, and used to be a prosperous port that carried out trade with the Americas. The streets and squares in the historic quarter of the capital of Andalusia are lively and busy. They treasure many constructions that have the World Heritage designation, and many districts are full of traditional culture, like Triana and La Macarena. Seville is a prominent business and service centre in the south of Spain and has many hotels distributed all over the city which enable visitors to discover endless attractions. Museums and art centres, theme parks, cinemas, theatres and clubs are some of the many leisure options that a great city like Seville holds. Without forgetting, of course, the numerous terraces, inns and bars where visitors can practise one of the most deeply-rooted and tasty traditions in the city: Going out for tapas.

Seville Aquarium - Acuario de Sevilla, Seville, Spain
This is a great little aquarium set on the river in Seville, Spain. Our kids really enjoyed this the most about Seville, no surprise there, there were some great exhibits with a few that you can touch. Great opportunity to learn about sealife and take a break from the heat. A must if you are travelling with kids.
