This is the Walking Tour Video around Rocky Creek Bridge on the Big Sur Coast in California.
About Rocky Creek Bridge:
Rocky Creek Bridge is a reinforced concrete open-spandrel arch bridge on the Big Sur coast of California, built in 1932. It is located in Monterey County, on the State Route 1 (Cabrillo Highway) about 12 miles (19 km) south of the city of Carmel, and about a mile north of the more famous Bixby Creek Bridge. As its name implies, it spans the Rocky Creek. A turnout with limited parking space exists to the northwest of the bridge, for tourist use.
The vicinity ecology is noteworthy in that the marine waters at the mouth of Rocky Creek are a habitat for the endangered southern sea otter, E. l. nereis. Additionally, on a ridge above Rocky Creek is one of the few known habitats of Yadon's piperia, a North American rare and endangered species of orchid.

Big Sur Historic Bridges
Between 1921 and 1937 the Carmel-San Simeon Highway was constructed. Included in the construction were 29 bridges. Seven of the original bridges are recognized by the state of California as Historic Bridges.
From south to north, beginning with mileage marker 28.09 in Monterey County, ending at mileage marker 69.02, the historic concrete, arch span bridges are: Big Creek, Bixby Creek, Rocky Creek, Garrapata Creek, Granite Canyon, Malpaso Creek, Wildcat Creek.

Rocky Creek Bridge HWY 1 Falls into the Ocean Breaking News
A stretch of California's coastal highway is closed to traffic indefinitely after a chunk of the road fell into the Pacific Ocean.
State transportation workers are scrambling to repair Highway 1 in Monterey County near Rocky Creek Bridge.
A 40-foot section of the two-lane highway crumbled just after 5 p.m. Wednesday following several days of rainy weather. All of the southbound lane is gone, and the soil under the northbound lane also is giving way.
The California Highway Patrol says no one was injured in the slide.
It's not immediately clear what caused the slide or how long the highway will be closed.

The Most Iconic Bridge Used In Countless Car Commercials
Bixby Creek Bridge, also known as Bixby Bridge, is a reinforced concrete open-spandrel arch bridge in Big Sur, California. The bridge is located 120 miles (190 km) south of San Francisco and 13 miles (21 km) south of Carmel in Monterey County along State Route 1. Prior to the opening of the bridge in 1932, residents of the Big Sur area were virtually cut off during winter due to the often impassable Old Coast Road that led 11 miles (18 km) inland. At its completion, the bridge was built under budget for $199,861 and was the longest concrete arch span at 320 feet (98 m) on the California State Highway System. It is one of the tallest single-span concrete bridges in the world and one of the most photographed bridges along the Pacific Coast due to its aesthetic design and location.

Driving the Pacific Coast Highway at Big Sur 1
I'm from London, England and my favourite drive in the world is the PCH1 from Los Angeles to San Francisco. I've driven it many times, mostly on my own, in both directions (I prefer going north).
For about 90 miles (140 km) from the San Carpoforo Creek to the Carmel River, the road winds and hugs the cliffs of Big Sur, passing various coastal parks in the area. The road is so windy there are a number of sections where the speed limit is 15mph. This is the most spectacular section of an incredibly scenic drive.
This segment of the highway, built between 1919 and 1937, also crosses several historic bridges, including the scenic Bixby Creek Bridge, a reinforced concrete arch with a 320-foot (98 m) span that passes over the Bixby Creek gorge, and the Rocky Creek Bridge.

THE EWOLDSEN TRAIL One of Big Sur's best day hikes
THE EWOLDSEN TRAIL / Ewoldsen Canyon Loop Trail
Length 5.1 mi • Climbing 1450 ft
Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park: Trail Open
The Ewoldsen Trail is the quintessential Big Sur hike. In a mere 5 miles, this remarkable loop manages to pack in a bit of everything that makes the area's backcountry great. There are lush redwood groves, crystal-clear streams, a challenging climb up a picturesque and forbiddingly steep canyon, and spectacular ocean and mountain views. A quarter-mile stroll on the nearby Waterfall Trail adds a view of a rocky cove and an iconic waterfall. This trail/ route is definitely more challenging than the average trail, with steep gradients, and small amounts of poison oak.
The route is almost entirely wooded and has a plenty of redwoods. The trail is well maintained. There's a $10 parking fee unless you park on Highway 1 outside the park entrance. Its safe.
Hike description
________________________________________
The Ewoldsen Trail starts at the top of the Julia Pfeiffer Burns parking lot. It immediately enters the most impressive redwood grove of the hike. There are a few picnic tables, and a creek flows through the grove.
After the Canyon Trail spur the trail begins climbing rising up the side of the canyon and briefly leaving the redwoods behind. Take this part slow. The climb is very steep at first, but then it settles down to a more comfortable grade.
Important NOTE* The loop is somewhat easier in the clockwise direction, so turn left and cross the footbridge. The trail climbs steeply out of the gorge.(Take this part slow)
At one point there's a sign that says Steep Cliff / Stay Back , the trail used to be dangerously close to the drop-off, but it now a comfortable distance away. The trail itself hasn't moved; it's just that the right-hand side of the trail used to be covered with brush dotted with poison oak. You can still walk out along the drop off, but be mindful and extremely careful.
