Roluos group Temples in Cambodia ( Preah Ko, Bakong and Lolei )
Roluos is a Cambodian small town and an archeological site about 13 km east of Siem Reap. Once it was the seat of Hariharalaya, first capital of Khmer Empire. These were the earliest permanent structures built by Khmer and mark the beginning of classical period of Khmer civilization, dating from the late 9th century. Some were totally built with bricks, others partially with laterite or sandstone
Preah Ko (The Sacred Bull) was the first temple to be under the Khmer King Indravarman I in 879 to honor members of the king's family, whom it places in relation with the Hindu deity Shiva.
Bakong is the first temple mountain of sandstone constructed by rulers of the Khmer empire In the final decades of the 9th century AD, it served as the official state temple of King Indravarman I.
Lolei is the northernmost temple of the Roluos group of three late 9th century Hindu temples. Lolei was the last of the three temples to be built in 893 as part of the city of Hariharalaya that once flourished at Roluos, the Khmer king Yasovarman I dedicated it to Shiva and to members of the royal family. Bakong Temple in Cambodia | Attraction in Siem Reap Province
Travel on National Hightway 6 from Phnom Penh city to Siem Reap province for about 4 hours, we will get to the entrance of Bakong Temple. We need to turn left and travel on a small paved road for another 45min to be at Bakong Temple. It's about 308.10 kilometers from Phnom Penh to Bakong Temple. The temple is located at Roluos district, in Siem Reap province. From the entrance, we will reach Preah Ko temple first then Bakong temple next. So Bakong temple is at south of Preah Ko temple. It's a beautiful and amazing temple registered as Angkor World Heritage in 1992. It's one of the temple in Rolous temple group at Siem Reap. We got there around 11:50am, while it's so hot and we had lunch after a visit of the temple. It's a great trip.

Cambodia Vlog: Beng Mealea, Floating Village, Roluos Group!
instagram.com/timandglo
November 10, 2014
We spent most of day two about an hour outside of Siem Reap. Our guesthouse arranged for us to visit Beng Mealea, Kampong Phluk, and the Roluos Group of Angkor Wat temples with a private car and driver for $60.
We felt like real explorers at Beng Mealea, where we climbed over ruins and piles of rubble. Because Beng Mealea is not part of Angkor Wat, we had to pay a separate admissions fee of $5 per person. It's possible to take a tuk tuk to Beng Mealea, which will be cheaper than a car but the ride will take longer and it's not nearly as comfortable given all the rocky dirt roads in the area.
Based on the underwhelming results of our online research for the floating village of Kampong Phluk, we decided before arriving in Cambodia that we would give it a skip. But because it's on the way back to Siem Reap from Beng Mealea, we decided to give it a try. Although it was a pricey tourist activity for Cambodian standards, we were happy with the overall experience. The cost of the boat ride to the floating village is $20 per person. Once you're at the village, you have the option to transfer to a canoe for a more intimate paddle through the village as well as a gorgeous mangrove forest. We were charged $10 per person for the canoe ride, but we later learned that the price is not set and other tourists negotiated to pay just $4 or $5 per person.
Our last stop was two of of the three Roluos Group of temples. Because they are part of Angkor Wat, we were able to use our three-day passes to see Lolei and Bakong. Because of time constraints (the temples close at 5:00 pm) and low light, we had to skip the third Roluos Group temple, Preah Ko.
Thank you for watching!!

Lets Visit Bakong Temple In Siem Reap Angkor Wat Cambodia | Best place To See For Your Next Vacation
Siem Reap Angkor Wat Cambodia Has many things to do and may places to see , it is the Best place To See For Your Next Vacation. Now Lets Visit Bakong Temple In Siem Reap Angkor Wat Cambodia together !
Siem Reap (Khmer: ក្រុងសៀមរាប, pronounced [siəm riəp]; Thai: เสียมราฐ) is the capital city of Siem Reap Province in northwestern Cambodia, and a popular resort town as the gateway to Angkor region.
Siem Reap has colonial and Chinese-style architecture in the Old French Quarter, and around the Old Market. In the city, there are museums, traditional Apsara dance performances, a Cambodian cultural village, souvenir and handycraft shops, silk farms, rice-paddies in the countryside, fishing villages and a bird sanctuary near the Tonle Sap Lake.
Siem Reap today—being a popular tourist destination—has a large number of hotels, resorts, restaurants and businesses closely related to tourism. This is much owed to its proximity to the Angkor temples, the most popular tourist attraction in Cambodia. More Info:
Bakong (Khmer: ប្រាសាទបាគង) is the first temple mountain of sandstone constructed by rulers of the Khmer empire at Angkor near modern Siem Reap in Cambodia. In the final decades of the 9th century AD, it served as the official state temple of King Indravarman I in the ancient city of Hariharalaya, located in an area that today is called Roluos.
The structure of Bakong took shape of stepped pyramid, popularly identified as temple mountain of early Khmer temple architecture. The striking similarity of the Bakong and Borobudur temple in Java, going into architectural details such as the gateways and stairs to the upper terraces, suggests strongly that Borobudur was served as the prototype of Bakong. There must have been exchanges of travelers, if not mission, between Khmer kingdom and the Sailendras in Java. Transmitting to Cambodia not only ideas, but also technical and architectural details of Borobudur, including arched gateways in corbelling method. More Info :

Travel from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap Province | Visit Preah Ko Temple and Skin Art Workshop
We traveled from Phnom Penh city to Siem Reap province on 22nd April 2017 to visit Preah Ko temple. We had breakfast at Ktor Pagoda at Prek Leap and lunch at a food stall in front of Preah Ko temple in Siem Reap province. After lunch, we walked around the temple taking some pictures and videos. Prasat Preah Ko is is a great architectural style of the Khmer Empire. It was hot after lunch but it's fun to walk around the great temple. We had a break after that for some coconut and buying some clothes by the temple. We then also visited the Skin Art workshop where the owner help the orphans, instructed them to carve on cow or buffalo skin, made them some income and knowledge. The Skin art workshop is across from Preah Ko temple in Siem Reap. You can visit and help buy their skin arts.

Beng Mealea On The Road Less Traveled (HD)
Approximately 70km from Siem Reap lies a remote, lost temple in the jungle - Beng Mealea. Much less-visited than those at Angkor Wat, this site will give you the chnce to play Indiana Jones in a way the more popular places can't. It's thought to predate the temples by Angkor Wat, and nobody really knows why it ended up in ruins, swallowed by the surrounding jungle.

Pre Rup Temple | Siem Reap | Cambodia | 20th November 2015 |
Pre Rup is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built as the state temple of Khmer king Rajendravarman and dedicated in 961 or early 962. It is a temple mountain of combined brick, laterite and sandstone construction. The temple’s name is a comparatively modern one meaning turn the body. This reflects the common belief among Cambodians that funerals were conducted at the temple, with the ashes of the body being ritually rotated in different directions as the service progressed. This video recorded 20 November 2015.Thank you for visiting my channel.

In the city, there are museums, traditional Apsara dance performances, a Cambodian cultural village, souvenir and handicraft shops, silk farms, rice-paddies in the countryside, fishing villages and a bird sanctuary near the Tonle Sap Lake, and a vibrant, cosmopolitan drinking and dining scene.
Siem Reap today—being a popular tourist destination—has a large number of hotels, resorts, restaurants and businesses closely related to tourism. This is much owed to its proximity to the Angkor temples, the most popular tourist attraction in Cambodia.
Angkor Wat (Wat temple) is the central feature of the Angkor UNESCO World Heritage Site containing the magnificent remains of the Khmer civilization. Angkor Wat's rising series of five towers culminates in an impressive central tower that symbolizes mythical Mount Meru. Thousands of feet of wall space are covered with intricate carving depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. The most important are the Carved Bas reliefs of the Hindu narratives. They tell a story about gods fighting demons in order to reclaim order which can only be achieved by recovering the elixir of life known as amrita. The gods and demons must work together to release it and then battle to attain it.
Angkor Thom is an inner royal city built by Jayavarman VII, the Empire's famed 'Warrior King', at the end of the 12th century and is renowned for its temples, in particular the Bayon. Other notable sites are Baphuon, Phimeanakas, The Terrace of the Elephants and The Terrace of the Leper King. The city can be accessed through 5 city gates, one on each cardinal point and the Victory Gate on the eastern wall.
A number of significant temples are dotted around Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom within the Angkor Archaeological Park, including Ta Prohm, Preah Khan, Banteay Kdei, Phnom Bakheng, Ta Keo, Ta Som, East Mebon, Pre Rup and Neak Pean. These temples may be visited along the grand circuit or the small circuit routes. Other sites are the Roluos group of temples located to the east of Siem Reap.
