Walled City of Lahore also known as Androon Shehar has 13 gates, these were the only major entry points to get in and out of the city. And it also safe guarded the residents of old city form outside invaders. There was huge wall (faseel) which goes along outside the boundary of walled city and just outside that wall there was gardens and green areas, you can also see and experience some patches of left green areas after atrocities and encrochments over serverl years. Local Goverment and Walled City Authority of Lahore have plans to reviive the glory of old city which is pride of our Lahore city and gives you marvelous residential architecture and mughal era historical buildings.

Walled city of Lahore Authority has started a guided tour Badshahi Mosque, Hazoori Bagh, Baradari, Mughal era Roshnai Gate, Alamgiri Gate, Lahore Fort, Samadhi of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh, Picture Wall Lahore Fort, Sheesh Mahal and Summer Palace. The entire area is illuminated and open to public first time by night.

Fort Road Food Street (Urdu: سڑک خوراک - روشنائی دروازہ, Sarak-e-Khorak - Roshnai Darwaza) is a food street located between Fort Road and Roshnai Gate of the Walled City in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. The street was reconstructed and opened in 2012 as a tourist attraction, by offering Lahori cuisine and views of Badshahi Mosque. The street was inaugurated on 21 January 2012, by Hamza Shahbaz Sharif to replace Gawalmandi Food Street.

The Wazir Khan Mosque is 17th century mosque located in the city of Lahore, capital of the Pakistani province of Punjab. The mosque was commissioned during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as part of an ensemble of buildings that also included the nearby Shahi Hammam baths.

The street was reconstructed and opened in 2012 as a tourist attraction, by offering Lahori cuisine and views of Badshahi Mosque.

The Lahore Fort
The fort is located in the northern part of Lahore's old walled city. The fort's Alamgiri gate is part of an ensemble of buildings, which along with the Badshahi Mosque, Roshnai Gate, and Samadhi of Ranjit Singh, form a quadrangle around the Hazuri Bagh. The Minar-e-Pakistan and Iqbal Park are adjacent to the northern boundary of the fort.
Excavations in 1959 in front of Diwan-i-Am led to the discovery of a gold coin dated 1025 CE belonging to Mahmud Ghaznavi. The coin was unearthed at the depth of 25 feet (7.6 m) from the lawn. The cultural layers were continuous to the depth of 15 feet (4.6 m) indicating that the fort was inhabited by people even before his conquest.
While relaying the deteriorated floor of Akbari Gate in April 2007, three floors in the fort were unearthed belonging to the British, Sikh and Mughal period. The floor of the British, Sikh and Mughal periods were constructed with bricks, burnt bricks and pebbles respectively. The latter either built during Jahangir's or Shah Jahan's era was the hallmark of Mughals.[27]

The Alamgiri Gate is an imposing gateway of the Lahore Fort facing the Badshahi Mosque. and was constructed by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir in the late 17th century. It is a national heritage site.

Many cities around the world have their own past but as the city enters the contemporary world, the story of the past becomes history. The inhabitants of the city are well aware of the past but choose to forget it instead.
The ancient Lahore still exists in the city which is now referred to as The Walled City or as the locals call it Androon Shehr. The gates of the city of the past still reside in this era but what is the history of these gates and how the people of this contemporary world for access to the ancient city still use these Ancient Doorways?

This documentary is an academic project produced as a final project for a course of Mass Communication for MPhil students of Kinnaird College University.

The Lohari or Lahori Gate is located within Walled City of Lahore in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Lahori and the bazaar behind it comprises the oldest arterial route in the Walled City built by Akbar the great. Qutbuddin Aibak, the first Muslim ruler of the Subcontinent is buried just outside this gate. Caravans & travellers coming from Multan used to enter the city from this gate. Behind Lohari Gate also, once stood a brick fort called Kacha Kot probably the first fortified city of Lahore founded by Malik Ayyaz. Among the few city gates which British Government cared to reconstruct, only Lohari Gate retained its original form. During Mughal period, the two famous divisions of the Walled City, namely Guzar Bahar Khan and Guzar Machhi Hatta, were served by this Gate. During the anarchaic rule of the 18th century, all the city gates, except Lohari Gate & two others were walled up.

Lohari Gate, Lahore - Justujoo
Lahori Gate is one of the oldest gates of Lahore. It is also known as Lohari Gate. This name 'Lohari', traces back its roots to the language of Urdu, in which, “Lohar” means Blacksmith. This can be a reason why it is known as Lohari Gate; however, it is not evident that blacksmiths ever lived or worked here. Inside the gate, there is a market known as Lohari Mandi or Lohari Market which is one of the oldest markets of South Asia. This gate has its historical significance and still tells many stories about its origin and historical traces.
