Australia is considered a young country but as a nation it is older than most others. It is also rare in that no great war or revolution has destroyed its earliest town plans and architecture. So Australia retains its origins in its major public buildings and streets. Origins that are very much written in the esoteric, a tradition that continues up to the present day.
Two hours drive north of the Sydney the city of Newcastle is a centre for mutual aid groups (so called secret societies) such as the Druids, Oddfellows, Temperance and Freemasons.
It is also a city rich in sacred architecture and artworks which use symbolism as well as measures to encode an ancient stream of knowledge. The Hermetic Code. Using astronomy, geometry, arithmetic and music (The Quadrivium) at its core.

Evelyn Kenny's parents were told by staff at Randwick she couldn't be transferred to Westmead for lifesaving surgery because it didn't have the resources available, a claim the Children's hospital at Westmead denies.

Meet Tom Stodulka. Ex-navy, mediator and Australian Poet. In this interview hear Tom talk about his life, his poetry and how it came to life.
Life, love and work intertwine with nature in a unique series of poems. No matter what the day to day challenges are, as life unfolds from youth to almost three score & 10, Tom Stodulka tries to face each day with positivity. Journey with Tom through tales of Australian life, discover local flora and fauna and learn from his experiences in his work as a mediator. Tom shares his deep appreciation of nature, his passion for his work and takes the reader on a journey through life.
Tom was born in Bathurst, NSW in 1951, in one of Australia’s post WWII refugee camps, a huge improvement on the UN Displaced Person’s Camp in Naples where his brother Andrea was born.
After some intense cross border encounters in Germany, Switzerland and Holland, his parents Zdeny and Philomena had fled Czechoslovakia in 1947 and were ordered to travel by train to Naples, where life was no picnic to say the least.
Tom’s early formative years were spent in Parramatta and after being educated at the King’s School and North Sydney Boys High he studied law at Sydney University, where he won an Australia Britain Society scholarship, which took him on an overseas study tour.
In 1976 he joined the Royal Australian Navy as a naval legal officer and served in most Australian States and in the United States during the 1990-91 Gulf War, after a short stint in Pakistan and the Khyber Pass. After 20 years in the Australian Military he established a full time career as a mediator and facilitator, practicing throughout Australia, including the Northern Territory before settling in Brisbane in 2002. An early pioneer of mediation and alternative dispute resolution and mentored by Sir Laurence Street, he has promoted its benefits both here in Australia and overseas. Tom is accredited internationally and in particular, in India, PNG and Hong Kong and has promoted mediation across Vietnam in recent years.
Tom has been fortunate to have enormous support from his parents and his loving wife Janet and three children, Louisa, Katherine and William. This, along with the great support from many friends and colleagues across the country has played a major role in shaping him every step of the way.
Growing up in a refugee household, where English was a second language to German, had its challenges and benefits. Assimilation was the order of the day and resilience and unimaginable strength and sacrifice shown by his parents and his grandmother created a unique background and environment. At prep school he struggled with his English essays and often his mother stepped in to help, despite her own challenges learning a new language. Being a contemporary of the author John Marsden helped to inspire Tom, years later, to try his hand at writing.
Tom was always a happy child, able to keep up a positive disposition, despite the many home pressures and stresses of day to day life. His father was a successful Sydney artist and Tom played a major role in the management and promotion of the cottage industry which contributed to helping pay the prohibitive school fees. The early exposure to the arts and artistic endeavour provided a strong and enduring legacy. Finally, in 1976 whilst at sea in the Pacific Ocean with the Navy he wrote his first poem and found a way to express his own artistic creativity.
Tom is optimistic about his next book of poems and has commenced writing a series of short stories.

Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales and the most populous city in Australia. It is on Australia's south-east coast, on the Tasman Sea. In June 2010 the greater metropolitan area had an approximate population of 4.6 million people. Inhabitants of Sydney are called Sydneysiders, comprising a cosmopolitan and international population.
The site of the first British colony in Australia, Sydney was established in 1788 at Sydney Cove by Captain Arthur Phillip, of the First Fleet, as a penal colony. The city is built on hills surrounding Port Jackson, which is commonly known as Sydney Harbour, where the iconic Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge are prominent structures. The hinterland of the metropolitan area is surrounded by national parks, and the coastal regions feature many bays, rivers, inlets and beaches, including the famous Bondi and Manly beaches. Within the city are many parklands, including Hyde Park and the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Sydney is a consistently high-ranking world city for quality of life. It has hosted multiple major international sporting events, including the 1938 British Empire Games, the 2000 Summer Olympics and the final of the 2003 Rugby World Cup. The main airport serving Sydney is Sydney Airport and its main port is Port Botany.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a steel through arch bridge across Sydney Harbour that carries rail, vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic between the Sydney central business district (CBD) and the North Shore. The dramatic view of the bridge, the harbour, and the nearby Sydney Opera House is an iconic image of Sydney, New South Wales, and Australia. The bridge is nicknamed The Coathanger because of its arch-based design.
Under the directions of Dr J.J.C. Bradfield of the NSW Department of Public Works, the bridge was designed and built by British firm Dorman Long and Co Ltd of Middlesbrough and opened in 1932. The bridge's design was influenced by the Hell Gate Bridge in New York. It is also the sixth longest spanning-arch bridge in the world, and it is the tallest steel arch bridge, measuring 134 metres from top to water level. It was also the world's widest long-span bridge, at 48.8 meters wide, until construction of the new Port Mann Bridge in Vancouver.

Perched on the East Coast of Australia, Sydney, is the vibrant capital of New South Wales.
The Sydney Tower is the perfect way to get acquainted with the city. From Circular Quay it's possible to get almost anywhere else in the city. Nearby is Sydney Harbour Bridge. Just across it is Luna Park, renowned for its vintage fairground rides.
A short ferry ride from Luna Park is Darling Harbour, home to the National Maritime Museum. A few blocks away is the Powerhouse Museum.
Sydney Opera House is Sydney's most iconic sight. Behind it are the Royal Botanic
Gardens and the Sydney Domain, containing Government House, and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Across the Pyrmont Bridge is the Sydney Sea Life Aquarium. More creatures can be found at the Wild Life Sydney and Taronga Zoo.
Bondi Beach is famed for its sands. The seaside suburb of Manly provides a quieter beach experience. The coastal paths to North Head offer stunning views of Sydney from afar.

2. August 2019 Larissa arrives in Sydney, Harbour, Art Gallery & Botanical Garden
Finally the day of Larissas arrival in Sydney has come. We met up at Cricular Quay train station and went straight to the harbour for breakfast with an amazing view of the Opera house and the Harbour Bridge. Later we went to Anzac Memorial and walked to the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Then we enjoyed the nature at the Royal Botanic Garden. For dinner we went out and had a burger.

Across the Pyrmont Bridge is the Sydney Sea Life Aquarium. More creatures can be found at the Wild Life Sydney and Taronga Zoo.
Bondi Beach is famed for its sands. The seaside suburb of Manly provides a quieter beach experience. The coastal paths to North Head offer stunning views of Sydney from afar.
