The Sukiennice Underground Museum, which opened in the summer 2005, is one of Krakow's most remarkable historic exhibitions. Located in the heart of the Old Town, underneath the Rynek Glowny Main Square it shows the importance of Middle Age Cracow within Medieval Europe.

Krakow is a large city in southern Poland close to the border of Czech Republic.
It's best known for its well-preserved medieval Old Town, Jewish quarter, and the Wawel Castle complex.
Some of the best things to do in Krakow include exploring the Krakow main square, wandering around Kazimierz, or heading underground at the Wieliczka Salt mine.

500 Years Ago and 12 Feet Beneath Kraków's Main Market Square
One of many great new museums in Kraków is the excellent Rynek Underground Museum. When the Main Market Square was renovated, they found so much of archaeological value that they opened a major museum right on the site. In this video clip, my guide explains that even though we're 12 feet underground, this was the street level of medieval Kraków.

This week we’re back in Poland, in the amazing city of Kraków checking out what might be one of the best Christmas Markets in Europe. This is actually our very first European Christmas market which makes it extra exciting for us!
Krakow’s Christmas Market takes place in the Main Market Square, which also happens to be one of the biggest squares in Europe.
While visiting the Christmas Market we try mulled wine (hot spiced wine also called Grzaniec Galicyjski in Polish), oscypek which is smoked sheep cheese from the south of Poland, Polish Pierogi, and potato pancakes.
While here we also check out the Christmas tree in the square, as well as the different stalls to see what types of things you can buy at the Krakow Christmas Market.

Kraków, a southern Poland city near the border of the Czech Republic, is known for its well-preserved medieval core and Jewish quarter. Its old town – ringed by Planty Park and remnants of the city’s medieval walls – is centered on the stately, expansive Rynek Glówny (market square). This plaza is the site of the Cloth Hall, a Renaissance-era trading outpost, and St. Mary’s Basilica, a 14th-century Gothic church.
