Shanghai SNH48 group is the biggest girls group in Asia with more than 300 members in five cities in China; Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenyang and Chongqing.
Established as an official sister group of Japanese girls group AKB48 (Akihabara 48) in 2012 however became independent in Jun 2016 because of franchise contract issues.
After Standing on their feet, SNH48 created four sister groups, more than 200 original songs and several original stages that consist of 16 songs and are played every week end at their own theater called Star Dream Theater in each city.
While Korean girls group members make a debut after finishing professional training, SNH48 members are developed after entering the groups. Their fans enjoy supporting the development process of their favorite members just like leveling up a game character.

There are two things during this stay in Japan that really left an impression. One is seeing 70,000 fans with my own eyes. Another is hearing the 15th generation trainees sing when we went to watch the theater performance. I was astonished by the audience of 70,000 and was moved by seeing our senpai perform with such confidence on stage. I hope we can show a great performance like that some day in front of lots of fans. When I heard the singing voices of the 15th generation trainees, I strongly realized that the theater is the foundation of the 48 group. I heard the voices of the trainees before I actually saw them, but just by hearing them i could easily envision them dancing their best. I've always thought about how we should communicate with fans when the SNH48 Theater is built. Now that I've seen the theater performance, I realize that the answer is to put our all into the performance. I learned so much during this trip to Japan. It's difficult to express with words, but I was able to securely set a focus for my goals ahead! I am deeply grateful to all staff members who accompanied us on this trip and took care of us in Japan.

SNH48 isn't just a group of young, pretty girls, and the group's concept is not just about being idols either. Instead, by means of exclusive theater performances, handshake events, annual general elections, etc., they let their fans witness and be involved in each member's growth as a singer to the utmost.
