Gymnastics Tragedy - The Story Of Elena Mukhina
This is probably the LONGEST video I will ever make. I know many won't watch it mainly due to the length of it, but I HAD to just explain basically everything because the point of this video, for me at least, is that maybe a coach will see it and the tragey won't repeat, normal people will see it and remember her name. In general it's just historical video of one of the greatest gymnasts to ever be born. It is such a sad story so not recommended for the weak of hearts. Gymnastics is a cruel sport at times albeit a gorgeous one that your whole heart will love.
I will start off by saying that I didn't even know which song to use because there are hardly ANY that honor her. I didn't want to use a stupid song in the background, it HAD to be meaningful. In the end, after a long search, I returned to my initial options and narrowed the choices down to ¢ση¢яєтє αηgєℓ, мα∂ ωσяℓ∂ ωιтн му нєαят ωιℓℓ gσ ση & ℓιѕтєη тσ уσυя нєαят being the two being the main songs I'd choose from while the other two due to soothing melody in the cover versions of other languages. ιмρσѕѕιвℓє was also an option at one point, but I finally decided on the song you hear in the video, мα∂ ωσяℓ∂ and I'd say the lyrics and tune do the justice. Sorry for rambling, next video should be happier!! :D ..Probably...

Kazan Travel Guide - A Russian Fantastic Experience
Kazan Travel Guide - A Russian Fantastic Experience
Kazan is the capital of Russia's republic of Tatarstan and the center of the world Tatar culture. With a population of about 1.3 million, a rich history, deep culture and strong economic influence, thus taking the title from Nizhny Novgorod. By many measures, Kazan has one of the highest standards of living in Russia, following after Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Kazan has long been a focal point of higher education in Russia. It remains a university city, with some of Russia's top universities including Kazan Federal University (KFU - formerly Kazan State University, TGGPU and the Kazan Finance Institute), Kazan State Technological University (KGTU), Kazan State Technical University (KAI), and KazanState Power Engineering University. Many foreign students study in Kazan, adding diversity to the city's tolerant.
Kazan peacefully blends Muslim and Christian cultures. There are also many other religions represented in Kazan. For example, in the city center there are synagogue and new catholic church. This vibrant city with over 1000 years of history is an excellent travel destination, and the number of tourists visiting is rapidly increasing every year.
Much of the city center is walkable, and the main attractions for tourists (the Kremlin and Bauman Street) are only for pedestrian traffic. Public buses are abundant and cheap, but one must have some knowledge of Russian to read the signs or ask where the buses are headed. Bus system maps are apparently hard to come by. Taxis are available and operate mostly an on-call service, rather than plying the streets for fares. They also congregate at a few taxi stands in predictable places such as the train station.
Kazan celebrated its 1000-year anniversary in 2005, for which the city got a major facelift. Visitors today will be able to see many of the reconstructed or newly-constructed sites from the anniversary celebration. Kazan offers a lot of various events you can visit during your stay here - international opera and ballet festival, different types of music festivals, popular singers concerts and many other interesting things to do.Cirque du Soleil regurlary brings its shows to Kazan. And a must-see event in Tatarstan is a national holiday Sabantuy - tatar summer festival, which is celebrated in the beginning of June.
Baumana Street has the largest collection of restaurants, cafes, and bars in the city. They range from acceptable to tourist traps. The city has a citadel (Russian: кремль, tr. kreml', or sometimes Tatar: kirman), which was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000. Major monuments in the Kremlin are the five-domed, six-columned Annunciation Cathedral (1561–62) and the mysterious, formerly leaning Söyembikä Tower, named after the last queen of Kazan and regarded as the city's most conspicuous landmark.
Also of interest are the towers and walls, erected in the 16th and 17th centuries but later reconstructed; the Qol-Şarif Mosque, which has been rebuilt inside the citadel; remains of the Saviour Monastery (a 16th-century cathedral demolished by the Bolsheviks) with the Spasskaya Tower; and the Governor's House (1843–53), designed by Konstantin Thon, now the Palace of the President of Tatarstan. Next door, the ornate baroque Sts-Peter-and-Paul's Cathedral on Qawi Nacmi Street and Marcani Mosque on Qayum Nasiri Street date back to the 18th century.

Eduard Panov artist
Eduard Panov artist
Music, Pavel Panin
Eduard Panov – a famous Russian painter, a member of the Union of Moscow artists since 1985. He was born in Chelyabinsk in the South Ural. His father was an artist-restaurateur Porfiry Panov, a pupil of famous artists Meshkov and Grabar. He showed his artistic talent since a very young age. Since his childhood he could hear such names as Leonardo da Vinchi, Rubens, Rembrandt, Levitan and others and he couldn’t help inheriting the love for art and painting. E. Panov got an artistic education, he finished school and college of arts where he has been studying realistic manner of painting. Later in 1972 he graduated from the artistic department of Moscow Technological University.
The artist paints “pure” nature and with the help of his works he proves the value of ordinary nature around us.
E. Panov works much painting different landscapes. He enjoys painting still lifes, sometimes portraits. You can feel a gaily expectation of a day in the morning and a light sadness of saying good-bye to it in the evening. These two different states of nature are shown not only with the help of light and colors but also by the manner of execution. The painter analyses a lot both in his landscapes and still lifes, he can create an emotional image by means of colors. He’s got a surprisingly clear and plastic artistic language. The painter never deforms an object, he’s never casual with details, he hasn’t got any “unworked” places on a canvas. The main idea of his creation is a considered composition and the accuracy and neatness of his paintings. The artist is so keen on his creation that he can always find an inspiration and picture motives even if a place is boring at the first sight.
The painter travels a lot, he exhibits his pictures at Moscow, Russian and international exhibitions. His personal exhibitions were held in: Moscow (1983), Poland 1984 (Warsaw, Gdansk, Zelena Gura), Czech Republic 1985 (Prague, Brno, Bratislava), Germany 1987 (Berlin), India 1989 (Deli, Calcutta, Madras), Finland 1990 (Helsinki), Poland 1993 (Warsaw), Marocco 1994 (Rabat, Casablanca), Moscow 1998, Luxemburg 2000 and 2001, 2004. Germanyn 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, Cyprus 2002, 2003.
In 1994 his exhibition was entirely bought by Polish museum of art. A lot of foreign exhibitions were organized by Russian Center for International Scientific and Cultural Cooperation which the painter has been dealing with for a long time.
In May 2002 Russian President`s spouse L.Putina and the minister of culture Shvidkoi have attended Eduard Panov`s personal exhibition in Berlin. One of his pictures the artist has presented as a gift to missis L.Putina.
His works are presented in museums of Russia, Poland, in many foreign private collections.
Following the tradition Eduard gave all his knowledge and skills to his sons: Eduard junior who has graduated from the Russian Academy of Art in Moscow and Michael who is already a talented painter.
Lots of interesting articles and researches of his work can be found in Russian and foreign press.

Beslan. Remember (english & español subs)
- когда-то государство допустило ошибки, которые привели к беде;

Russian combat robotic soldier
A prototype track-mounted combat platform tailored to use Russian weapons has been unveiled at an arms show in Moscow. Producers say it beats the similar American bot widely used in Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns.
The bot, called MRK-27-BT, was produced by the robotics lab of the Moscow Bauman Technical University. It was shown to the public at the Interpolitex-2009 arms exhibition.
MRK-27-BTs standard armament includes two Shmel rocket launchers, two grenade launchers, a Pecheneg machine gun with a 100 round ammunition belt, and six smoke grenades. It is operated with a couple of joysticks and has a maximum range of 500 meters. All the weapons are standard issue used by human soldiers and can be detached in the field.
The project is similar to SWORDS, a weaponized version of Foster-Millers TALON platform. While the platform is extensively used by US military for disposing of explosives and other tasks, the real weapon-wielding bot was never used in actual combat.
Russian developers say their project beats the American counterpart in mobility and speed thanks to a superior track design. Its weapon mount is more flexible and can extend over a foxhole edge. It also has a built-in recoil suppressor. At the same time the Russian robot is larger, standing 1.5 meters tall with its mount raised, while SWORDS is barely knee high.
Designers hope that Russian Defense Ministry will order a trial series of the platform. However, according to RIA Novostis sources, top brass want a developed doctrine about the use of combat robots before committing.

Russian Olympic team arrive back after finishing 4th in medal table
(23 Aug 2016) Russian Olympic team arrived back in Moscow after Rio Games and were warmly greeted by their compatriots.
President of the national Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov congratulated the athletes on excellent performance at the Olympics in Brazil, said Russian team was the cleanest at the games.
Olympians also reacted with sadness and compassion to CAS decision to uphold the ban from Rio for Russian Paralympic team.
Russia is banned from the Paralympic Games as punishment for a state-backed doping program, after losing an appeal at sport's highest court.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport announced its urgent verdict Tuesday to dismiss the Russian Paralympic Committee's appeal against exclusion from the Sept. 7-18 games in Rio de Janeiro. A hearing was held in Rio on Monday.
An appeal by Russia's Paralympic committee to Switzerland's federal court is possible though unlikely before the games open, Alexei Karpenko, an attorney representing the Russian athletes, said in televised remarks.

Lilia Shevtsova: Russia After Crimea: A Global Challenge (Livestream)
Seminar in Ukrainian Studies
RUSSIA AFTER CRIMEA: A NEW GLOBAL CHALLENGE
Lilia Shevtsova
Russia’s Crimea annexation became a benchmark that opened a new chapter in the Russian personalized power system search for survival. The annexation and war with Ukraine helped the Kremlin to consolidate a new support for the System. However, the temporary tactical successes in attempts to return Ukraine in the role of a satellite brought new strategic problems for the Kremlin. The “Ukrainian Gambit” has undermined the Kremlin ability to use the Western resources for its power reproduction. Today the Kremlin is trying to find the exit solution from the “Ukrainian Trap” but without losing its face. However, it could hardly solve this problem without change of the political regime and restructuring the basis of the personalized power System.
Lilia Shevtsova is a Russian political analyst, an Associate Fellow at the Russia and Eurasia Program at the Chatham House (London), a Davis Center Senior Scholar, an Honorary Doctor of the St.Gallen University (Switzerland), and the founding chair of the Davos World Economic Forum Council on Russia’s Future. Her publications include Yeltsin’s Russia: Myths and Reality; Putin’s Russia; Russia –Lost in Transition: The Yeltsin and Putin Legacies; Lonely Power (Why Russia Has Failed to Become the West and Why the West Is Weary of Russia).
